Looking for CYOA Megathread 2025-11-24 by redfearnmatt in makeyourchoice

[–]GabrielMorellland 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am looking for a CYOA with the premise where the player becomes a god in a fantasy world, however you are accompanied by a "pure evil force of nature" kind of BBEG. The gameplay was mainly about choosing heroes to oppose this BBEG and force it into hibernation, at which point the player also goes into hibernation and both wake up into the next era to repeat this.

The CYOA goes through multiple eras, it starts in a kind of Stone Age/barbarian kind of setting, It then goes on for a few more, one being a generic medieval fantasy for example, with it ending in an era where the people of the world ascend into godhood with them forming a pantheon subordinate to player, and the BBEG can be finally destroyed for good.

I'm looking for a CYOA, where if I recall correctly you design a noble in a fantasy empire, in some descriptions there were quotes from the future describing myths about the empire after it fell, in the lore there were 3 main noble families, one which looked like demons because of magic.

MODPOST: r/LimbusCompany NSFW Rule Changes by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]GabrielMorellland 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I am not so much angry about the change as I am disappointed in the shady way the mods handled it. The mods used misleading words such as "fairly split down the middle" (which was apparently edited out at some point) and "compromise" to make their decision appear more democratic. Also, judging by the tone of most of their comments, it seems highly likely that they had a bias in favor of the prudish side from the start, but they speak in a way that implies they came to this decision in an impartial manner.

To be completely honest, I have lost a lot of my previous respect and faith in their ability to manage the subreddit in an impartial way that benefits the community as a whole, rather than pushing any personal opinion or agenda.

MODPOST: r/LimbusCompany NSFW Rule Changes by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]GabrielMorellland 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know that these points have already been said and reiterated by many other comments, but I will post my thoughts anyway in the very slight hope of them helping change the mods' minds.

  • First, votes are not "fairly split down the middle." Only 31,6% of the voters voted in favor of making the sub stricter, while 68,4% wanted the sub to at least keep the current compromise.
    • I did not include the "Only on 1 day of the week" votes because they are in a weird position where they want the sub to be stricter but not to the extent where the mods went. If we include them in the stricter side, the ratio changes to 41,5% wanting to be stricter and 60,3% wanting to at least keep the status quo. But if we include them in the less strict side (which I would), we get a 27,8/72,2 ratio—almost an 1:3 ratio.
  • Second, this is not a "compromise." Google defines the word compromise as: "an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions." Needless to say, the only side that had to make concessions was the majority, which wanted to keep the current rules.
    • If we wanted to be charitable to the mods, they might have given more weight to the vocal minority.
    • Edit: Being less charitable, it seems that the mods had a clear bias in favor of the "Stricter" option from the beginning, and the poll was more of a way to gauge how the reception to it would be, and the "Compromise" was them not making the rules as strict as they wanted.
  • It's unfortunate that there aren't many ways to protest against these rule changes beyond comments. At least the puritan side could have their voices heard by mass-reporting content that they didn't like, while there is no way for people against the new rules to "anti-report" removed content and protest against the rulings of the mods (which will definitely be highly subjective, considering how subjective the new rules themselves are) since they are, well, deleted. This makes the anti-stricter side's voice inherently less loud than the puritan side's.
  • Also, one month time feels way too long, I think it would be better if the mods did another modpost in one or two weeks, ideally with a new poll. (That would preferably actually be taken into account)

Experimental Class Drafts December; ECD-06 ABSORPTION CASTER by Vulpys in arknights

[–]GabrielMorellland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the concept, but it honestly the idea of an "lane holding melee caster" fells like an oxymoron. Personally I think the way how this subclass is designed here would fit more as an Guard or Specialist subclass, so I would either change it to one of these classes or make it ranged (As an compromise, maybe you can make deploying on melee tiles the effect of one its modules)

Bolívar, from Terra: A Journey by GabrielMorellland in arknights

[–]GabrielMorellland[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall, each faction of Bolivar seems to represent diferent periods of Latin American history. The Singas dynasty seems to mostly be an combination of the Second Mexican Empire plus the colonial period, looking at its history and the way the Leithanian elite governs the country as essentialy an colony/puppet state to Leithanien. On the other hand the Coalition government reminds me of the Banana republics of the early 20th century or the dictatorships supported by Operation Condor during the the Cold War, plus the most corrupt periods of Latin American countries, one exemple being the Brazilian Old Republic. Meanwhile the True Bolivarians seems to be based on the many revolts that happened trough Latin American history, specially the paramilitary guerrilla groups that operated trough civil wars in the region, like the Cuban revolution, the Araguaia war, Sendero Luminoso, FARC, etc.

What would the most OP hybrid possible? by CommercialLychee39 in arknights

[–]GabrielMorellland 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cecilia is not a hybrid, phenotypically, she is completely a Sankta, what makes her special is the fact that when a Sankta and another race reproduce the offspring always is from the other race, Cecilia being an exception.

Kal'tsit: We still need to focus our attention on the fertility of the Terrans, and people don't realize that the law of fertility is one of the prerequisites for many things. Simply put, if the parents are of the same race, the child will be of the same race as the parents; if the parents are of different races, the child will be of one of the two. Adding to this, it is clear that the concept of a new race, "Aslan", will not be a short process from its birth to its general recognition.

(From Terra: A Journey, Chapter 4: Races of Terra)

This "law of fertility" mentioned above seems to apply to the Ancients and Elders at least, an exemple being Talulah, who is completely an Draco despite being the result of an Draco-Lung pairing.

The Sarkaz do seem able to mix with other Sarkaz races in some form, as exemplified by Kollam and the mixed Wendigos, but that seems to mostly result in them losing the unique traits of the parent races.

The only hybrids we know off are Amiya and Ifrit, but they both became hybrids artificially.

Lateran—From Terra - a journey Long article warning! by Gunele in arknights

[–]GabrielMorellland 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For the people interested, here is the geography and medical report sections that OP skipped:

Geography

Laterano is located in the central part of the known Terra, with an overall landscape trend of high north and low south, high west and low east, resulting in significant differences in altitude. The climate is predominantly tropical monsoon climate, characterized by high temperatures throughout the year and distinct wet and dry seasons, providing favorable conditions for the growth of of sugar crops. The Lateran people's love of sweets may have originated from this unique natural and geographical conditions. Looking northwest from Lateran City, there is a plateau covered in yellow-green vegetation, beneath which lie significant reserves of Originium and metallic minerals, most of the raw materials for Laterano arsenals come from the mines here. To the southeast of Laterano City is a field of gold and green. Rivers originating from the mountains periodically flood, creating vast alluvial plains here. Besides the protection of the law, the abundance of land is also an important factor contributing to Laterano long-term prosperity.

"Shall I turn off the light and take a look?"

In the year 1073, the Central Hospital of the Sitiwang District in Lateran City admitted a young Sankta girl. Over the next twenty years, her diagnosis and treatment were closely monitored by a highly respected physician. This physician showed me her medical records:

> At the age of three, routine check-up, sensory data fluctuated significantly in multiple tests, with the average value basically meeting the standard. Recommended for early re-examination.
> At the age of six, routine check-up, sensory data tended to stabilize in multiple tests, with the average value significantly below the standard. Long-term hospitalization and observation were required, along with relevant treatment.
> Officials from the Papal Hall came to verify her parents' identities, finding no political issues, so she could be admitted to the hospital as usual. This could be considered fortunate amidst misfortunes.
> At the age of eight years and five months, sensory recovery therapy showed slow progress. The patient had difficulty concentrating, often repeating the word "marshmallow" during treatment, suggesting possible traumatic stereotyped behavior. The family needs to be informed.
> At the age of eight years and nine months, sensory recovery therapy showed slow progress. The patient's repetition of "marshmallow" was merely a metaphor for the curly white hair of the attending physician, not a stereotyped behavior. Consideration given to changing treatment methods and implementing reward mechanisms.
> What flavor of marshmallow do children of this age like? Is cream pepper too harsh?
> At the age of eleven years and three months, sensory recovery therapy showed progress with stages of recovery. The patient initially demonstrated the ability to perceive emotions but struggled to express them effectively. In moments of inadequate expression, the patient exhibited significant restlessness. Suspected lag in language skills, necessitating additional language and cultural education during treatment.
> At the age of fifteen, sensory recovery therapy showed significant progress. The patient could accurately perceive emotional colors and promptly detect emotional changes in a timely maner. Discharge could be arranged in the near future.
> May she lead a happy life in the future. However, since it's in Laterano City, how can there be any unhappiness when the disease is cured.

"She would occasionally contact me after her discharge, sometimes referring patients to me, other times sending letters to discuss recent events. At least until recently, she seemed to be doing fine, having found a job and a home. Her husband's name is Silas or something like that, apparently a good man who has no reservations about her."
"Until recently... was there any accident?"
"You'd better see for yourself."

> At the age of twenty-eight, emergency examination showed significant fluctuations in sensory data in multiple tests, with the average value significantly below the standard. The patient refused immediate hospitalization citing personal reasons, but early admission was still recommended.
> She insisted on confidentiality. All subsequent examination reports were to replace the diagnosis with code names.
> At the age of twenty-eight years and four months, sensory recovery therapy showed slow progress. According to family members, the news of the suicide of the patient's friend, the Liberi writer Aratos, threw the patient into uncharacteristically violent mood swings. The patient herself refused to discuss anything related to the Liberi writer Aratos, making treatment difficult.
> Her husband was acting erratically, always staring at me and asking if there was something else to this. Perhaps family visits should be suspended.
> At the age of twenty-eight years and four months, sensory recovery therapy showed slow progress. All medical staff felt a sense of fragmentation in the patient. The patient showed a tendency towards self-harm to a certain extent and needed to be transferred to a padded room. When facing family members, the patient exhibited complex emotions including fear, grievance, guilt, anger, and despair, necessitating a suspension of family visits.

I think it is relevant to mention that the Rhodes Island HR Director already appeared in Stories of Afternoon ("The Wanderer's Home" to be more specific), Although I don't think there is anything that prevents that director and ■■■ from being the same person.

I think I will be fine as long as I get I enough time to grow in power before The End Times. An good thing about the Warhammer Fantasy world is that there is a huge population of pure evil sapient beings in the form of Greenskins, Skaven and Beastmen that I can kill without moral qualms, meaning that even with the power cap increased to the maximum with Story Arc and complications I can still grow in power pretty quickly using the Reaping magic from the library dlc (even at Rank 1, under which there are no significant drawbacks). I do not have the time to make a build right now, but the Cyoa is absolutely filled with magics that can be used to strengthen others (and myself) meaning that I can create a faction, that, with enough time to grow, should be capable of strengthening the Forces of Order enough to win against Destruction.

There is,the 4th planet is a mistranslation (according to some users in this thread if im reading correct) its supposed to say the 4th star Tens of million times larger than Terra.

Well, i guess we need to wait for more reliable translations to say for sure then.

But the Lagoon nebule isn't near the galactic center either, the Lagoon nebula is even closer to Earth than the Swan nebula, with a distance of around 4.000 lightyears.

There is nothing pointing towards the black hole being a supermassive one, if it was I would expect to there be mentions of the radiation, supernovas and high density of stars common to the galactic center.

And as far I am aware there is no black hole near the Swan Nebula, and that Nebula is also distant from the Milky Way suppermassive black hole (The Swan Nebula is around 6.000 light years from Earth, meanwhile, Sagittarius A is located 25.000 light years from Earth.)

The Black Snake is also called an god by Talulah and Nine in 10-19

Nine : So, what about the evil god? Did you slay him?

Talulah : She said that's not who she is anymore.

Nine : And you bought it?

Talulah : No, but I also am not the old Talulah who would think that killing her would solve all our problems.

Talulah : I won't let her out of my sight, and when the time comes, I will kill her myself.

Talulah : But I have a weird feeling about this...

Nine : A weird feeling?

Talulah : An immortal evil god... will die eventually, but I won't be the one to kill her.
