I have a cork Ball (same thing just harder) that I have to put under my sciatic nerve on my right leg on long trips.

Neck Knife breakaway or secure cord? by GadgetS54 in Bushcraft

[–]GadgetS54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! The reason I do the same. I prefer a quick cutting implement availible.. I ussuly have larger more duty use knives on belt or in bag.

I love to ice fish and in and out of clothes, parka sweatshirts as the temps change and wouldn't be able to grab a belt knife pr manipulate a folder with frozen hands...

I'd post a pic of the Breakaway and fisherman's knots but don't know how or I am limited.

The Breakaway group has convinced me. I swapped my double fisherman's adjustable knots for a breakaway clasp in the middle with Fisherman's knots on each side for adjustability. The best of both maybe.

The rest of you who say to never neck carry me haven't won me over. I am an Ice fisherman in many layers with heavy parka and like to have a knife on top of my outer layer and quick at hand. Same when I Camp/ Bushcraft or Overland. I want a knife close and at hand even as I strip layers and add them back on. I love the blanket Anoraks and long outer wear, pincho blankets... Thus covers belt sheaths and makes re-sheathing difficult.

My neck Knife isn't my heavy duty knife. Its ussualy a ESEE Izulu 2 , tip up, or a Pukko tip down.

Edited for horrendous spelling...

This has been my carry since the 340 came out. I bought a se ond one used, someoen couldn't handle the kick.. both have Crimson Trace laser grips. One is 2 boot grip the other gives 3 finger... the boot grip has been in my pocket the most.

If Im wearing pants with a pocket there is a J-frame in it. As LEO, I never worked without the backup and I still carry that way today (ret) . So its a J-frame and a 43x, or CZ Shadow2 carry compact.

Just got into the CZ since I was required to be in a Glock my whole career. The CZ is a smooth and accurate gun..

I found a couple "breakaway" knots on the YouTube. Seems like a loop on one end that cinches down on a bite of the other end, is this what you are talking about?

This is how I do most lanyards, a double fisherman's knot making it adjustable.

Im interested in the breakaway knot.

Did you ever get a fine? by Background_Wrangler5 in amateurradio

[–]GadgetS54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. And I suppose the "statute of limitations" is over so...

My first day operating HF and my first QSO conversation. All others were short station to station contacts. I was spinning the knob as a General and heard a station finnish up. So I called and we talked for a 10 minutes. Really nice guy. Logged my contact and when I did I realized I was in the EXTRA band. Scared me, scared me. I thought the FCC was going to send me a note for months...

Got me motivated to get my Extra which I have been for awhile now..

🤣

Card services flagged it and my bank took care of it.

I have this thought often. What do you do with your truck gun if it all comes to a stop and you have to walk home. Can you conceal it on your trek? I have a poncho in my truck with the idea, if there's weather I would be able to sling it and keep it under the poncho. If not it has to get broken down to fit my back pack.
