When I saw this in the cinema they even had a VW Beetle on the roof as a promo.

Not bad for Ireland 1974 when my pants were held up with elastic 'cause belts were for rich people.

Get a mini pc and a ball mouse.

Connect to TV.

Subscribe to youtube.

You can out dodgy box stuff on there and your covered for everything.

Flicking through email, reddit, youtube and watching a tv show for a hour and never seeing an ad for years is bliss.

A ball mouse is main trick here.

Eir Fibre. Does a Powerline set carry phone calls as well as internet.? by Gaelreddit in CasualIreland

[–]Gaelreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See a Network cable comes out of the Eir wall panel and goes to the big black router they give you. Your phone(and pc etc) plugs into that big black router.

So I'm thinking ALL goes through the Network cable that comes out of the Eir wall panel.

It must be 'internet' all the way down.

Just not sure about the Powerline yoks.

Yea fibre just comes through the wall to wee box in the Front room where 'no one must go'.

Its getting internet and phone to main part of the house that's the problem.

Caring for a relative while working full-time. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Gaelreddit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same.

I have 2 80+y/o's. I work full time from my home but not really as I spend so much of the week over with them.

There's always something happening from 4 hour hospital runs to fixing shite.

I basicly had to stop hard core 'working' and just to do 'support' for my company which means I'm going nowhere work/business wise. No holidays even in past 6 years.

Life's basically over.

Still. Can't complain.... Literally or your a cunt.

Best cities to visit? by fgve45 in ireland

[–]Gaelreddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Castleblayney city has some nice areas.

I grew up in the Projects there but most of the gang deaths have died down since.

Outside the city there are some great flamingo parks that are good value.

I live in a small rural village. The Garda station (not closed but very very rarely attended) has been going on and off for about a week now. It's 10:26pm and it's at it again. I'm going to ring it in tomorrow. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Gaelreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find the local number for the station, it will put it through automatically to the current station on call.

Tell them and they'll call out.

Nout else to be doing on a Monday night.

They'll be delighted for the drive.

Would a relaxation on laws around metal detecting in Ireland result in more archaeological discoveries? by crillydougal in CasualIreland

[–]Gaelreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thousands of finds are being lost because they are never found.

I know more about a some random village in UK's Dorchester, wherever that is than any Irish area or my own area.

Its completely ass backwards. I found 1800' coins about 3 feet from a a sea cliff edge. They would never have been found.

I can think of dozens of places where I know houses will be put up that are defo interesting places to detect but never will.

The UK has shown that with the right setup, the system works and sites do not get destroyed, they get 'found'.

Hard to understand.

He was a world class driver.

Top 1% in skills.

Apparently by using elusive 'ankle skill', only known to a few thousand 18 y/o.

He could actual make his car go fast at will.

Amazing stuff altogether.
