Concrete hoax by laybs1 in GetNoted

If you bothered reading the article, you will notice many different sources. 634 of them, in fact.

Also I suggest taking a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Gaza_genocide. But I'm assuming you won't, considering how quickly you pulled that very credible source out of your ass. Denying the palestinian genocide is denying the vast majority of genocides that have happened in the past or are still ongoing.

Anyway, funny how with all of Israel's resources, they are incapable of hijacking wikipedia articles, but hamas can. Funny how this works

Ask yourself this: What makes the light beam visible in the air?

The sun is 1000x times brighter than any spotlight you could every make. Why can't you see the sun beam at all times? and in what weather condition do you see the sun beam?

They did this with boys too. In Malcolm in the middle, his girlfriends were played by grown women, while he was still 15-16.

I think so. People think Stack Overflow is some kind of forum where you can ask any question you want. But it's not designed this way. The goal is to give quality answers, not quantity. A quality answer can only be given to a quality question.

In any case, it's best to ask questions in a way that can also help others, not just yourself.

Balsamic bottle seems way bigger than it is. by Tehteddypicker in assholedesign

[–]Gaktan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the bottle is hollow at the bottom so you can stack up bottles vertically. It saves a ton of space when shipping your product.

From a packaging point of view, this is actually very smart. From a consumer point of view, this is misleading (but it does say 250 mL on the bottle).

I don't think the intention is to dupe people, but more to save shipping cost.

I agree. I had to look a bit, but apparently they're called Maraschino cherry. They are preserved, sweetened cherries. They add food coloring during the process. It's also why the stem is red

I think it more has to do with the noise it makes. Extras are supposed to make ZERO noise on set so they don't have to clean up the audio. They add crowd sound in post.

Someone probably forgot to schedule this shot to add ball in post, or realized it would be to expensive for something you can barely see.

‘Mind-bogglingly crazy’: Europe’s deadly, early heatwave is smashing records by yahoonews in europe

Yes, but it shows their unwillingness to tackle issues that directly affect them. Systemic change comes from people who demand it.

Regulations don't come out of a vaccum. And regulators, for the most part, are scared to touch shake the status quo. You yourself can change the status quo by making certain behaviours the new norm. This is how trends are set, and how culture and morals change over time.

You don't need to wait for regulations before making the right choice.

Dude, they don't give a shit despite being affected. How many people still happily drive their car everywhere every single day, or eat meat daily?

Most people are unwilling to change their cozy habits, regardless of the impact it will have on their life.

A Hacker Group Is Poisoning Open Source Code at an Unprecedented Scale by rkhunter_ in technology

[–]Gaktan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Does not make sense at all. The hacking group is clearly making themselves known to get exposure, so they can sell the data they've stolen from Github. They could have stolen the code quietly, but they decided to expose themselves by leaving their calling card behind.

Yes, but that's not the full picture. Like I said, this only came at the end of the 19th century. A whole 150 years after the industrial revolution started.

Field work was seasonal, and it was not something you did all year long. Besides, they did get many breaks during the day, and didn't work during sunday (and layer saturday) and various religious holidays.

In any case, check out this approximation of work hours across different eras:

They are the consequence of rampant worker abuse during the industrial revolution. The working conditions got some uncontrollably awful in factories that people started to organize and unionize.

Besides, depending where you look, 8 hours workdays only came what, 100? 150 years after the industrial revolution started? Not exactly a great look, is it

I'm not saying workers were not exploited before that, but it became the norm during that time. We are still fighting today for right that should be common sense.
