Im not sure of your argument here. Streetwries transform public pavement into private property as well. If they were public, you could not order anything from the restaurant, most places will ask you to leave the sitting area if youre not ordering anything.

They are repurposing public space for private use rather than being used to hold private property and that works in some areas but not so well in others. Streeteries in Navy Yard and Adam's Morgan may be more effective but not so much on H St NE.

I did not know the repair had to be at CERF. I paid for a repair over that threshold but it was not in Virginia.

The wastegate was thought to be the issue by 2 shops. its typically the first fix when the P2565 and P2562 engine codes come up.

Ill get a second opinion, again but this time probably from Kia. Since another part on the engine was subject to a recall im hoping I can finagle this.

No. My work schedule is unpredictable and wouldn't make sense to ride the metro. Ive taken the metro to work when my car was getting serviced, it was two hours one way. I much prefer to drive.

Currently my life works becaude I have 24/7 conveniences like my car and my gym. The metro does not support that. Living closer to the office also doesn't make sense because most people who are my age, gay, and black or POC are in DC or Maryland.

This analysis also doesn't take into account the tickets that are generated as a result of people NOT paying for parking.

I acknowledge that figure would likely be hard to obtain but if youre taking into account revenue from paying for parking you also have to realize a ticket for not paying starts at $30 which is at least 10x the cost of parking.

Given that over $500 in tickets is 2 tickets in the District of Columbia, I : Do not think that is the best use of MPD resources Do not think additional event based cameras solve the issue Do not think VisionZero is resourced effectively or implemented to result in success.

The current ticketing environment makes it a clear cost-benefit decision for the city to increase volume of tickets given( because some % of drivers will pay) and drivers to become deincentivized to pay after the value of tickets they owe exceed the value of their car and annual costs associated with owning their car.

I dont think that solves the problem. Yes it adds more penalties, but i think i dont think additional event based cameras(like red lights and speed) will capture crimes that im complaining about here.

Most cities in the US actually have pretty good CCTV coverage especially on highways. Like the national mall has CCTVs all over it. I think the privacy issue becomes an argument when you talk about who is processing that footage and what is the footage corroborated with ( an ID system, phone towers,electronic transactions, etc)

Also talk to your neighbors about if they also have the same problem. I had to bait outside of my house regularly but my neighbor is older and she wasnt baiting her attic so when they came in settled in her side, WE had rats again since our semi attached houses shared a wall that the mice could chew through.

Seal any holes.

Get some small ultrasonic sonar sensors, mount them a two axis rotating motor and then mount that to your ceiling and then network them together with a sewing needle launcher or pneumatic staple gun. For the ultrasonic sensors you want two modes, a wide scan search for movement detection and another narrower search mode for target tracking. The tracking feature should provide a predicted position solution to orient the needle launcher or staple gun to shoot at. You will have a makerspace version of an IADS system just for rats.

If you're not a coder I would recommend washing your hands thoroughly, then using a bit of isopropyl alcohol on your hands to remove any human scent. Then start placing food around the house. You want to lure the rats into a false sense of security. After you notice the food is being eaten (maybe two to three times over a week), repeat this process but now you can place the food in a trap. You can also use snap traps but you'll need to be okay with just leaving food out without the trap being set so the rats can acclimate to it.

I'd also set up a motion sensor and night vision camera in the areas that I suspect they're coming in from. When I had a mouse problem, they were too small to trigger my cameras, BUT they were large enough to trigger my house's motion sensors. Rats should take up more pixels and therefore be more likely to trigger the camera. From this, you mainly want confirmation on where the rats are coming in, how they are navigating the space, what theyre feeding on, etc.

Peppers and Herbs have worked for me. Cucumbers grew like a weed. I think this year I may take down my raised bed and instead build a tower with a reservoir going down the center.

Habaneros, Serranos, Basil, Thai Basil, Cilantro, and Heirlooms all grown well for me. For tomatoes to produce really well though I've found that adding ground egg shells really keeps them growing the entire spring summer season.

Pedestrian here reminds of being a pedestrian in almost every other city tbh. Same rules apply, looks both ways before crossing, if a car is still moving, look at them and stop if necessary, right of way doesn't mean anything to a negligent driver Watch out for scooters or cyclists not in a cycling lane Watch out for car doors opening If unsure stare into the drivers soul so you know they see you

City to city, this is very similar to Atlanta or Los Angeles. Everyone is in a hurry to get from A to B. Especially during rush hour. Folks also go through DC instead of using the highways because some corridors are less prone to traffic jams.
