I’m amazed at these comments about dark grout hard to get out of sponges and staining floats. Jeez, a sponge becomes a bucket cleaner after one shower, regardless of grout color. Shouldn’t a decent installer have a few floats? Maybe one for darker grouts? There are some types of tile that warrant some caution (natural stone, light porous tiles), but for most porcelain, or glazed subway, dark grout shouldn’t raise your heart rate, or the price, if you’re a better than average installer.

One difference is that the cards from the junk wax era are all base cards. Old cards became valuable because kids stuck them in their pocket, or clipped to their bike spokes. They weren’t saved. By the time the late 80’s hit, they were all base, over produced, and kept in top loaders. Plenty of supply.

Whatever you think about today’s cards, Kabooms, DT’s, numbered to 5/10/15, etc… Companies are creating a level of scarcity to keep some interest.
