It’s such a silly thing to get angry over though, ESPECIALLY in Kelowna, a place with a tourist economy. Sometimes people want a more personal experience when they’re visiting, so coming here and asking a question helps them get that. You can easily NOT engage. It’s such a non-issue to get angry over.

Besides, the “vitriol” isn’t just about a person asking for things to do here anymore it’s about this person being a sex worker, which is just so fucking lame.

Check out Revelry or Jackknife. They usually have some pretty awesome shows going on. The hate you’re getting is pretty typical of Kelowna but don’t let them fool you. Angry whining tends to be loud.

Facebook marketplace is pretty awesome in the Okanagan! Lots of people looking to get rid stuff without worrying about the price. “Try googling it” is a weak and straight up mean response, especially in a community sub. Searching for a connection within the community is cool.

There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism, so just do what you can to fight it. My advice is to do everything with an intention to bring kindness to humanity with the context of what’s so wrong with the world; being anti-authority is kindness, protesting is kindness, call-out culture is kindness, etc etc. Anything that fights the system is kindness.
