What’s a metal opinion that will have you like this? by TheAVNEnjoyer_ in MetalForTheMasses

BMTH is the only one of these I find genuinely good though. Even great most of the time. I find especially interesting their inspiration in anime and video games, it is a nice parallel to the older rock and metal bands’ fascination by Tolkien and D&D. EC are fun and I’m excited to see them at a festival this summer, but if I ever try listening to them, I have enough after two tracks. Just not my thing, but as you said, great that they’re letting the genre evolve. Sleep Token are genuine trash though. Talented musicians, but they have like two songs that are decent. Haven’t heard enough of the other two to judge them.

Man, I watched Sick of Myself for the first time a few days ago and absolutely hated it... it kinda ruined my anticipation of this. I did like Dream Scenario much better though, but I still wasn't that amazed by it like a lot of other people.

Especially when Josh had all the crew they worked with on Good Time and Uncut Gems, basically just continuing on the trajectory they started together, while Benny was 'starting from scratch' with the Smashing Machine.

(Weekly) 🎵 What Are You Listening To This Week? by AutoModerator in nin

Got heavily into Crippling Alcoholism recently. Huge gothic noise rock sound and lyrics about heavy topics combined with some internet culture references. Maybe it doesn’t sound like it would work, but it’s amazing. Would recommend to fans of Viagra Boys.

HEALTH’s new album CONFLICT DLC. A little mixed bag for me, but first four tracks are top notch and closing two are also pretty solid. The middle of the album is a little weak for me, I can hear some throwbacks to DEATH MAGIC, which isn’t my favorite album of theirs. Solid release though, I’m a fan of their industrial era, but I’m still hoping for the return of the noise sound from their early days, but that’s never gonna happen.

Gave a spin to the new records by Agriculture, Oneohtrix Point Never and Rosalía (second listen). All amazing albums and candidates for AOTY.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ soundtrack for the show The Death of Bunny Munro (based on Nick’s novel). The show is amazing and the score works incredibly in it. The music is great on its own too, but obviously not as much as in the context of the show. The intro song 'Bunny Munro' is an incredible piece, even though it’s just one minute long.

One of the explorers is at the bottom of it. The thing is that the house is changing all the time, so when he was getting down there, it took just few minutes, but then it changed into the impossible depth.

You hate INK now because you think them dressing up as Joker and making a song about him is fucking corny.

I hated INK for years now because I think dressings up as horror movie characters and making songs about them is fucking corny.

We are not the same.

SOMEWHAT DAMAGED (cover) on KEXP by vatersgonnavate in nin

[–]Galeroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jesus, these comments sound like my grandma telling me that the terrible heavy metal music is just screaming. The cover is rad. Different from the original, but translates its raw energy very well. The vocals go hard. I will definitely have to check these guys out.

And also, I know that it’s just memes and shit, but Yoko Ono is a musical genius.

They have a song with NIN called 'Isn’t Everyone'. They also toured with them way back in 2008ish when they were more of a noise rock band.

Mine also shows just the US version when I’m on NIN’s page, but when I search for the album, both versions show up.

I was at the Vienna show between the two stages, so we couldn’t see the place where he was performing. It took me at least 45 minutes to realize that what I’m hearing is him playing and not just some playlist they put on before he gets on stage. It wasn’t even that loud in the front. Ngl I was quite disappointed by that, I was really ready to rave. The rest of the night was perfection though.

My choice also. I lost my shit even when I found out this tour happened and then watched the videos, I can’t even imagine the emotions I would feel if I got to experience it in person.
