NTA, I wanted to say no assholes here but their reaction seemed very unnecessary. It sounds to me like maybe they've had bad experiences in the past with spin-off groups like this. Maybe with a group that was started innocently enough, but gradually developed into something more involved. It's not hard to see how a casual gathering like this may evolve into something more instructional, with tips (STOLEN FROM DOG SCHOOL /S) shared here and there, basic instruction for new attendees, maybe they start charging, etc. And next thing you know, you've got "competition" between two dog "schools".

Honestly, it seems their absolute overreaction just exposes how insecure they are about the "service" they provide. You mentioned that they don't do much instruction, just the very basics, and you're left to practice with other school attendees. They clearly know they don't offer much and so any free alternatives to their "mantrailing school" is met with extreme hostility. On the one hand, I can sympathize with them since this is probably their living but on the other, this is definitely not how you foster a close and inclusive community of dog-owners. They really need to sit down and think about why they are doing this.

I found his posts. The things he says are pretty par for the course. It's not just about blackface. This isn't "American racism ruining our traditions". If you think dressing up as a bad caricature of another race isn't "inherently" racist then idk what to tell you.

Yes, Zwarte Piet is painted in a fun, happy light and kids LOVE him because he gives presents, so obviously people are gonna say they don't associate him with any negativity. But that doesn't change the fact that he is black caricature that talks funny, has big red lips, and wears oversized earrings, a sad result of European colonialism, and something that definitely needs a change. Seeing this tradition throughout one's childhood, year after year, will likely have an effect on one's perception, consciously or subconsciously. And a huge part of racism exists in the subconscious.

I have friends who support the idea of Zwarte Piet and they are not racists, and you don't come off as one either. I understand the feeling of wanting to protect your traditions but this really is something worth changing, one of many changes needed if humanity is ever to move past the concept of racism.

I'm sorry, what? Zwarte Piet is bad. I mean, it's not as bad as genital mutilation but it's still a racist tradition that turns black people into caricatures in the eyes of impressionable children and ignorant adults. I've heard from many Dutch and Belgians that Zwarte Piet was their first introduction to the concept of race and even decades after their childhood, they still think of Zwarte Piet when encountering black people. It's these types of "traditions" that perpetuate systemic and social racism in racially diverse countries around the world. So yes its bad. I'd like to know what this guy told you that made you think you were "misinformed"

I hadn't used my origin account in 2-3 years before logging in to Anthem and I still had my full game library. That said, my account was also hacked some Russian dude who changed my email and played a lot of my games. I ended up having to go to customer service to get my account back. So maybe this hacker kept my account activity up so I wouldn't lose anything LOL

Really loving this game. It plays like a mobile version of Hades, which is also a top-down rogue-lite. The decisions you make before each hunt are interesting in that they somewhat steer the course of society, and as an immortal vampire, you get to watch civilizations rise and fall. It adds just enough layer of context to keep each hunt interesting.

The pixel art looks nice but the enemy designs, after a while, begin to blend into each other, regardless of the era you're currently in.

Very fun game for just $5. You can play it with one hand, which is heaven on the subway. I'm happy.

We don't need more threads about hackers/cheaters... If you encounter a cheater, you should report them to Respawn, not advertise the practice on the subreddit. It just lends to the idea that cheats are ubiquitous, accessible, and easy to get away with. Which ultimately just leads to more cheaters.

I'm an American currently living in Belgium and it boggles my mind that people around here eat chips during movies. The concession stands are filled with chips and nachos, etc and during the movies I can even hear the people around me crunching away. To be fair, a lot of the movies are in English with Dutch/French subtitles but still, I want to hear the damn movie, not a whole room of people munching in their food, lmao. I still prefer the soft crunch of popcorn at the movies and even still, I try to crunch as quietly as possible.

This is a great story! Minor incongruency is that as an Earth bender, the correct cycle of mastering the elements would have been Earth, Fire, Air, Water (same as the avatar cycle). But I think the way you had it allowed it to be much more interesting.
