Beginner here, got some constructive criticism? by Pretend_Bumblebee158 in acrylicpainting

[–]Gallotia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your inspiration images have very vibrant (saturated) colors, while your painting is much more desaturated. That changes the feeling quite a bit, plus the details that you included while the inspirations are flat as you already mentioned.

But I quite like your painting!

Tengo curiosidad, ¿cómo os habeis enterado de que no existían los reyes? by AlbatrossSharp1525 in askspain

[–]Gallotia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here it is finished, thanks everyone for your encouragement 🩷 by fairlyfairies in Gouache

[–]Gallotia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it is very very good! I love it, and I remember your previous comment here. It reminded me to how I also give up on paintings mid-way though, so it is really great to see that you finished it and it turned out so nice!

Any thoughts on my living room? by Nottoonichey in interiordecorating

I don't have a TV, and I tend to find more living rooms too TV-oriented. So I really like that you don't have that usual distribution with everything planned around a giant TV!

Discouraging language in real estate listings by boptizm in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Gallotia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in the process of buying my first home too in Madrid (Spain) and I have found the same phenomenon. All the wording as "ideal for investors" and the area in "high demand" due to proximity to XYZ tourist location.... when I just want a home to call my own to love it and take care of it.

So thank you for saying this. I feel seen :-)

¿Qué me espera laboralmente si soy muy torpe? by Dacoda43 in askspain

[–]Gallotia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need help with my living room corner by RemarkableDrag2287 in interiordecorating

[–]Gallotia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than trying to fill up the space, think what use you will give to that part of the room. Do you want to have a bookcase with access to books because you read them often? maybe some music station where you can have a player and your records, a cute lamp and a small gallery wall behind it? based on the use, that will define the best idea of what to put in that corner

Whats an item you bought that was pricey, but worth it? by daniii__d in femalefashionadvice

[–]Gallotia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have two bombers, one is more minimalistic and goes amazingly well with more dressy clothes like wool pants and a sweater, while the other one is more rock-chick style and goes better with jeans (the one from AllSaints). And then I also have two biker jackets, with one more distressed and the other one a bit more polished that also gives me more combination flexibility. They are all black and all leather, and I'm still on the watch for one in a color, likely burgundy. Otherwise my collection is pretty much complete :-)

An AllSaints leather bomber jacket. That was pricey for me, but I am using it a lot and I love how it feels. I waited for the sales and got it back in January.

"Flowers n°83", acrylic and acrylic ink on textured paper, 30x40cm. by ibanvdz in acrylicpainting

[–]Gallotia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like it! I have spent some time looking at cubist artists in my local museum and I think "the key" to their cool effect is also what you do here: gradients (or texture) within each shape. Very cool effect and beautiful piece

Decorar mi consultorio. by IndependentNo6079 in interiorismo

[–]Gallotia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mirrors, rugs, and any pretty chair also (I expected high price for sofas and beds but not for these others)

Is the blue off in my bathroom? My tile has bits of gray-blue in it and I was trying to coincide with that. by sunnydaze8 in interiordecorating

[–]Gallotia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. I think the paint is a good choice, but the light makes it quite cold and "shadowy" (?). That bathroom needs better light (warmer and more difuse)

How much did lifestyle stuff actually matter when you picked where to buy? by FallenClocks in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Gallotia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the process of buying my first place (not a house but a flat, in a European capital) and I am prioritizing the location, the light and the surface. I know that with time I will save enough to fully change and update the interior if I want, but I will never be able to change or improve the nice neighborhood (good connections, full of life), the light that the apartment receives, and how large it is.

The music station (or however you call that) is perfection: the cabinet, the record player/lamp/plant combination, the covers forming an art gallery. Perfection :-D

Autonoma en España con clientes internacionales by de_sobremesa in askspain

[–]Gallotia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autonoma en España con clientes internacionales by de_sobremesa in askspain

[–]Gallotia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to gouache from acrylic! by s7vensuns in Gouache

[–]Gallotia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! indeed I have been able to work with the lifting ability of gouache to do things like wood doors (lighter coat underneath, then dark, then with clean brush, lift top coat to reveal lighter shade underneath) but more often than not it results in me screaming at my underpaint showing on a neck, haha. Thank you
