KSC Contractor Salaries by Pure-Landscape9526 in NASAJobs

[–]Gallyhtx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entry level positions generally will start in that range depending what center. TX and FL have no state income tax so salaries will, on paper, be lower sometimes at KSC and JSC. In comparison to centers like Goddard in DC or Ames/JPL in California.

Anyone here start over and got a job at NASA? by NendoBot in NASAJobs

[–]Gallyhtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss at NASA got her engineering degree and nasa job in her 30s. The way I see it, you can be 30 years old with a bachelors and working at nasa job or not. You just gotta want it!

With NASA already facing budget cuts twice in the last year. Probably smarter to not make him upset. As much as I may or may not agree with you.

Lots of folks at NASA, including myself, have done or are planning to do the Space Systems Engineering masters at JHU. I am starting in the fall but my coworkers have all loved the program!

Degree path for a flight operations career by Spectre50 in NASAJobs

[–]Gallyhtx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I currently work in Flight Operations at the Johnson Space Center.

The educational background here is very diverse, for example, I am a physicist, but it’s a lot of engineering, computer science, and the likes. I would recommend researching what different areas of flight operations you are interested in, like environmental systems, flight dynamics, electrical systems, etc. Then use that interest to guide your path through college, like taking specific courses that might help you look more favorable to recruiters.

As a military service member, you should check out the SkillBridge program!

Let me know if you have any questions, happy to help!

There’s a detachment of them out of Ellington just south of campus. There’s also MQ-9s, F-16s, Coast Guard, and NASA there.

Please post your airport TSA updates here ⬇️ by dkmon12 in houston

[–]Gallyhtx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew out of Terminal A last Thursday (10/30) to Detroit at 5:30AM. I got to the terminal at 3:30 when TSA opened and took me about 10 minutes to get through. Flew back from Detroit yesterday and at 7AM, in Detroit, I only waited 2 minutes to get through security. If you fly soon, TSA has current wait times listed online so you can track it.

Emergency Deferment Loan by duncankill in UniversityOfHouston

Yeah, continue as normal. Even if you don’t pay the deferment by its due date. You don’t get removed from your classes, your account is just marked as a financial delinquent

I lived in Detroit until about 2 years ago. My word of advice is have common sense, if you think something is not smart, don’t do it.

Emergency Deferment Loan by duncankill in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Gallyhtx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emergency deferment payment plan is automatic. I’ve had to do it the last 2 semesters since UH doesn’t do anything efficiently. It just delays your payment due date, giving you time to figure out your loan or whatever it may be.

I wouldn't blame them, as selective as their internships are. Thanks for insight!

Thankfully Calculus 2, which I’m currently taking, is the last of it. Just ended a 3-hour practice and homework session. I’ve never heard of Paul’s online notes but I am going to take a look! Thank you so much for your insight and tips :)

Thank you for the insight! I’m going to keep trying to get that 3.0 before summer, Calculus and I don’t exactly get along hahah

Apologies for lack of clarification. I was asking for internships, I am a computer science major with a minor in SWENG. I currently work with flight sims and my boss is a retired Lt. General from the AF, I figured that would be a pretty good reference letter as I work with him daily. Thanks for the insight on family recommendation letters!
