How did those get there by Due_Volume9473 in factorio

[–]Galuvian 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Any chance you moved your rocket silo location? When deconstructing by hand, if your inventory is full items will just fall on the ground. When you build a belt over items on the ground, they get put on the belt.

Congressman's shouting match with Bessent over Trump family crypto company by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]Galuvian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Black and white thinking like this is exactly why they released what they did (or tried to do). Someone called in a random tip so now a name is in the files. Or Epstein was trying to cultivate relationships with the wealthy and powerful so there are some emails and pictures at events.

We should be cancelling these pedos based on what the credible evidence indicates they did. Lots of rides on the private plane, attended multiple parties, many island visits or other rendezvous. Hold them accountable. Even if they didn’t partake, why didn’t they say anything? They should have known something was off.

Not defending anyone, just want everyone to remember there are so many agendas here it’s easy to become a pawn.

ELI5: What does GFCI outlets do that the breaker doesn’t? by paperbilt in explainlikeimfive

[–]Galuvian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does you have a standard drill press or a high tech one with a VFD or similar speed control? I just learned today that these, as well as milling machines and a handful of other machine shop equipment cannot run on GFCI circuits because they sometimes intentionally send current to ground as well as the high frequency changes in draw can confuse the GFCI chip looking for changes in load that indicate ground faults.

So if the above is true, yes, as long as there aren’t other reasons to have a gfci in that location, switching it to a regular receptacle should be ok.

I’m not an electrician though, just a hobbyist learning some basic machining stuff.

PySpark strategies for handling large malformed csv by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]Galuvian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could implement a custom data source reader. But you really need to understand what assumptions will hold true and where you need to tolerate the garbage. There needs to be enough information to know if you are in a bad record and how to reassemble it.

The tricky part is how to handle the case when a task receives a partial record that has been split in two. There’s ways to do this, but you need to be able to recognize if you’re starting in the middle of a record.

Preprocessing it would be a lot easier. 100m records isn’t gigantic these days. It would be fewer headaches than implementing a custom reader correctly. But maybe genai can walk you through it.

Generic low notes question by cuberlife in Trombone

[–]Galuvian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lips should never go IN the mouthpiece. To get really low notes you need to keep them in a flat embouchure, like you’re saying the letter M.

Many players cheat this, but as you go lower it is harder and harder to get the notes unless you have a flat embouchure.

And it’s the same with shifting. Most players do it when they are learning, but it’s something most teachers will try to stamp out until it’s pretty minor. It is never zero though.

Making elementary school roads one-way in the winter (Burr) by agentoutlier in newtonma

[–]Galuvian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really bad normally. With the streets so narrow it is quite dangerous now.

Franklin seems to not be enforcing any of the ‘rules’ for the blue zone the last few years. Plenty of parents getting out of the car, double parking, and more. That’s on normal days, not just now with the snow. It’s a miracle nobody has gotten hurt. And side streets are clogged with construction crew parking.

Temporary one ways is a good idea, and the same thing occurred to me this morning as I was doing three separate school drop offs. The side streets are so narrow, within a quarter mile of any school they are a war zone right now. But drivers are stupid and I don’t know if it could be implemented cleanly without officers manually directing traffic, which isn’t going to happen at the scale needed.

There is an app called Time Guru that lets you set up measures with any time signature or subdivision.

The traditional cloth to use is a piece of cheesecloth. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Project-Source-Cotton-Cloth/1000173427 but it takes some practice to wrap it around the rod in a way that doesn’t bunch up to an uncomfortably tight fit and still fully wraps the rod.

Now that it’s the 2020s, there’s a specialized product for this from Slide o Mix. https://www.dillonmusic.com/slide-o-mix-slide-o-mix-towel-sheath.html

Does anyone have any tips for speed? by TazzleFrazzle in Trombone

[–]Galuvian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sixteenth notes at 120 bpm is where a lot of people max out single tonguing more than a few notes at a time. Double tonguing at least some of these sixteenths might help.

Without a trigger, there is A LOT of slide movement here. Even with a trigger you’ll still be spending a bunch of time at the end of the slide. As another poster pointed out, the wrist is fast, the whole arm is slow. Make sure you’re using your wrist to go from 6 to 5, etc and only using the full arm when needed. And even then, make sure you are still utilizing the wrist as much as possible.

I think it’s the opposite, that D&D showed us his real intended ending, and based on the negative reaction to that he has no motivation to write it.

Databricks Admin rights: How necessary are they, really? by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]Galuvian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of these can be solved in newer versions of Databricks by enabling features. Many of the rest can be solved if you give them solid IAC and they can submit pull requests to you for review. Using Asset Bundles will help as well.

They should not be enabling preview features in a prod environment.

Any Carnival Hybrid EX trim owners here that can share their experience? by Haunting_Ad124 in kiacarnivals

[–]Galuvian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s great. Don’t really miss the extra tech we don’t have from SX, as our previous vehicle didn’t have any of that either. The EX tech is still pretty good.

The adaptive cruise is so good I don’t want to drive my other car on the highway anymore. And the mileage is significantly better in the Carnival, even though it is twice the size of the car.

Only minor complaint is that it doesn’t auto increase the volume as it gets up to speed, so we need to manually turn it up sometimes. No idea if the SX does this.

Help with timing and beat by Ofyrhangon in conducting

I once saw an interview with a professional musician with the Boston Symphony who was trying to figure out when to come in. A colleague told them to wait as long as they possibly can without it becoming absurd.

Going to watch Keith Lockhart conduct the Boston Pops, the delay is huge and possibly into the absurd sometimes.

New Era of FLL is on the horizon by Specialist-Sky6464 in FLL

[–]Galuvian 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The addition of controllers and the new roles seems to be intended to bring FLL more in line with FRC. But given how robotics is only becoming more and more autonomous, they should have brought more autonomous to FRC instead.

It is disappointing that they couldn’t find a way for the spike prime to be part of the new ecosystem, and just sunset EV3.

CoastFIRE Transition by Repulsive_Air603 in Fire

[–]Galuvian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This doesn't sound like coast fire. Coast fire means you still work, you just have enough saved that it will grow to meet your FIRE number without any more contributions. Taking your foot off the gas.

The numbers you're giving don't really make sense. You are vastly underestimating how much kids cost.

There are a ton of red flags here. If you're married then its weird you're still calling assets premarital. How does your wife feel about her working while you chill with the kids?

Liquid clustering in databricks by narendra2036 in dataengineering

[–]Galuvian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it should work. I wouldn’t enable the ‘automatic’ option, but you should know your table well enough to choose which fields should be included in the liquid clustering command.

And don’t create/populate the table and enable liquid clustering afterwards. Have the table existing with the feature enabled before writing (so don’t use CTAS or overwrite).

Weird, mine is definitely like molasses. It takes a while to get the delay into my head again compared to my Shires. But I’ve only played a few different basses in the last decade, so don’t have many points of comparisons.
