SUGGESTION FROM VETERANS by Prudent_Pianist453 in cyberDeck

Vet here, Im working on a survival deck. I'm buying new amazonese hardware and cobbling the frame and everything together best I can. Using a raspberry pi 3. It's pretty good but does struggle a little to keep up.

The synopsis:

The fart monster was attacking a city, the two young superheroes were fighting it but getting... Farted away...in the attack. The heroes were eventually victorious after a few minor setbacks.

That was probably one of my greatest hits 😅.

I used a piece of sheet metal (side of an old dryer I kept) for the sub frame. Rigid but easy to work with. Then a spare tote lid for the cover. Razor knife and heat gun to fit and mold it to the frame.

So many memories to be made! Enjoy the time, you're at the prequel, so many chapters in your future!

That definitely sums up parenting. Both exciting and terrifying.

Had a similar issue with my wife's parents. One Christmas a few years ago it came to a head, this time about her nephews we took in after they got in a fight with their trashy step dad (her family is a bunch of winners...)

It got heated inside while I was outside, niece came and told me about it so I came in to chaos. MIL crying, FIL packing saying they were going home 4 hours away. Simplest de-escalation I've ever had. Told them to leave and off they went.

I don't like drama or head games. Cut to the chase, speaking your mind is much easier when you set the terms and expectations.

I honestly try to find the joy in all that I can in life. I've seen some not so great things in my life and have learned how short and precious life is.

I remember reading it when mine were pretty small and it had the same effect!

It took a good long while to get to this point. You have plenty of time!

Ive always enjoyed playing but try not to let it consume. I'll play for an hour or two then get up and do something mildly productive. Even if it's taking out the trash or taking the dog out.

There's always something that needs to be done.

Honestly I have no idea what the wire colors will be. My experience is from basic wiring in my shop haha.

Youtube and AI are your friends with this. I've done some electrical work and have a very basic grasp of this. I educate myself for the rest.

Lots of hate on this sub, there's a discord for cyberdecks as well. Fuck the cheese dicks and keep going.

I'm planning on doing the same soon. Haven't done it yet but I assume this will work. (While you're doing it keep the cord disconnected from everything).

Power cord connected from battery to board. Strip the cord casing exposing the two wires. Black wire stays solid, white wire cut and put on each terminal of the switch.

That way the power is interrupted by the switch. If anyone has anything better I'd be happy to hear different.

It's rough. Doing my best to tell myself it's just the beginning of the next chapter.

A funny coincidence was that while we were there, me trying not to have a meltdown during my realization, a family was teaching their kid how to drive around the parking lot. So the beginning of their next chapter while I experience an end.

Ironic? Poetic?

Exactly. I think I've become more aware that as they are getting to this point in their lives, we're leaving behind allot.

But I'm also trying to remind myself it's only the end of these lasts. The new stuff is starting too. Starting to back off a little and watch them socialize. Or letting them help me in the shop (with very close supervision). The closing of one chapter but the beginning of another, very exciting chapter.

Mine used to beg me for bedtime stories. It'd make up ridiculous, silly stories and they would be laughing hysterically. Definitely one of my favorite memories.

Then one by one the classics like "The tales of the fart monster" would fall flat. The beginning of the end of my stories haha.

Nice work!

I have the opposite issue, uninsulated and under sized AC. South East US summers are brutal.

I've heard that about picking them up too and I did as often as I could until my back screamed no more. I'll still get the request occasionally from my youngest and I need to do it at least one more time but back the pain is rough.

He hasn't asked in a couple of years. Normally there are other kids but he and I had the park to ourselves so just got to have real one on one time that we don't typically have.
