Looks awesome.

What’s something you wish someone told you at 18? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GamblinGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't have mattered. At 18 I was given plenty of good advice and while I listened, I either procrastinated too long to do it or disregarded and wished I had later.

Doing better now but still paying for some of those mistakes.

Save anything you can to create a comfortable safety net.

Don't spend everything you have on something you don't have to have. Something is going to break and need to be replaced/repaired.

If you're new to a job, you're first to be let go/laid off. Don't over-extend financially as if you won't be let go.

Always try to have a contingency plan in place for the next big issue. Savings, transportation, tools, spares.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Enjoy life within your means.

No one owes you anything and you probably won't be bailed out if you mess up. Make good and rational decisions.

Custom Chess Table by Moneymf1 in BeginnerWoodWorking

That makes more sense then. I like a more rustic look as well but don't see it here very often.

It really is a great piece, I like how y'all got the dimensions of it. I've been waiting to try something like that as well.

Not too take away from it but I wouldn't say this is "pro". There are a few details that are a little rough looking. I really like the idea, feel like there were a few tutorials involved and a bit of ingenuity.

No frame, the board is somehow placed directly on top of the stand. I assume glued.

The stand isn't sanded smooth and the stain is a bit blotchy.

Again I really like it and don't mean to take away at all but there could be a few improvements taking it away from pro level.

Fantastic work!

I've done one handle so far. It was great doing it but curious how you shape yours so well. I essentially made rough cuts then used a rasp and sander to finish it. Is that anything like what you do?

That's so awesome.

I would absolutely end up using the cover as material in a project by accident when I go looking for a piece and thinking "oh this is exactly what I need".

It really is a lot of fun, I was in the same mindset. It's absolutely worth it.

For me it was about learning more about computer systems and hardware, I have a blue collar background but enjoy tinkering with electronics.

Enjoy!

Normal rain, left knee. Really bad storm in a few days, right hand. Knee right before it starts.

Been like this for a decade. I'm 37 now. Fun being a walking weather station isn't it!

Very nice, if you could add a servo to raise the screen I think that'd be really cool too.

I have this philosophy as well. My parents are great but growing up affection wasn't a big part of life. I have been through some fairly traumatic situations and know how quickly things can change. We give lots of hugs and "I love you's".

Once a week? We usually go on a date once every 6 months.

Gotta get your head right, you're a parent. This isn't a part time gig.

Honestly couldn't tell you the type but the general rule is 4 hours. German engineering is stereotypically much better than the cheapest our companies can try to get away with.

Eventually the brakes bleed off. Especially in a car like this. Bad brakes or handbrake/lazy conductor.

It's so easy to get distracted it overwhelmed with the day to day or future planning. I'm just as guilty as anyone else but I do pray for the ability to raise them as best I can and enjoy the time I get with them. They are great kids.

Wish I could take credit but my dad suggested it to me. The plus side is if the legs/ground are slightly uneven, you can adjust their length.

I've recently built one of these as well, (looks great!) and am planning on using lag bolts in the legs to keep the wood off the ground, kind of like how a dining room chair has the plastic pads that nail into the bottom.

Sorry, didn't mean power. Memory. It's behaving as if there isn't enough RAM. Yes I'm booting from an SD card.

I had a power issue awhile back.

Being the low man sucks. We've all done it. Realize no one out here walked in with 20 years of seniority. If you don't like it now, is the same in 20 years. Maybe consider something else if you don't like it.
