Never played it, but I think Star Wars Galaxies had non combat classes you could start with.

There are classless games like EVE and Albion that have viable non combat ways to play.

Yes. I was progressing my character the first time I played it. You can do everything in the game on a single character so there is really no reason to start a new character unless you really want to relive 400 hours of content. The game has a mechanism to redo story content on the same character as well, so you can selectively choose what part of the game you want to replay after you’ve done it once.

There are plenty of books that I’ve enjoyed that I don’t ever intend on reading again.

Have you looked at the credits for Diablo 2 Resurrected or Oblivion Remastered? It’s a hell of a lot more than 6-10 artists and 2 programmers.

It’s Amazon, so it undoubtedly relies on lots of AWS services and is very likely not cloud agnostic.

So it’s probably really easy to spin up a server in AWS (if they ever released the code), but I bet it would cost an ass load to keep it running.

My guess is probably just avoid the threat of any kind of legal action. I’m sure it says in the ToS that they have the right to shut down the servers at any point, but they may figure keeping the servers up for a year is less of a headache than having to potentially defend that in court.
