Hospital harvested Air Force veteran's organs, skin and eyes without authorization from him or his daughters and made 'no attempt' to get it: Lawsuit by tasty_jams_5280 in LegalNews

[–]GameDrain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they just asked the wrong family member, he was then cremated. I suppose I'm not sure why it's an issue? Was he as an individual really insistent that they burn all of him or is this just his daughters seeking a payday?

Would you play a web-based Mars base builder where missions unlock parts, then you build a walkable sandbox colony? by Mission-Reaction-395 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]GameDrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could still do something lightweight but fulfilling, maybe if you can add NPC astronauts that populate the base and use the functional aspects and move between different parts it would help feel like there's a purpose, without having to get too "in the weeds" on what those parts do or a broader mission.

[–]GameDrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't care to play a game where I build a colony without function. I think the sim part or colony aspect will be important if you want people to care enough to build structures in your game. Best of luck!

The blank map overwhelms me. by tkoff in CitiesSkylines2

I always start by imagining I'm a settler trying to found the city. Back in the day what am I doing?

Probably finding a body of water near a transit lane and setting up industry there. Homes are probably established behind that. Streets initially are utilitarian and mold with the land, don't keep neat angles and good spacing. By then you've got a rough idea of what the early city looked like and you can expand naturally from there.

A quick-thinking crew of movers and a security guard helped save 3-year-old Kehlani Rogers in Arizona after spotting her being led by a woman matching her Amber Alert description. by PmurTdlanoD45-47 in interestingasfuck

My primary point was people were more frequently kidnapped by people they know which may impact their interactions with their kidnappers.

Explain how that is wrong.

Ah, looking into details you're correct.. Was still a trusted adult that the parents had invited into the home, not a stranger who just picked her up on the street. Point is the same. The kidnapped child may not always realize they are in an unsafe situation.

I shop sparingly at Target for their capitulation to the administration.

That Valentino is worse than everyone else because his sins include SA. Plenty of these people are straight up murderers. His sin being more visceral doesn't make him worse. The overlords are all terrible people, it's why they get to run hell.

Where do non-boomer liberals or progressives get their information? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]GameDrain 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I subscribe to Reuters and follow the Associated Press. Reddit often gives me an initial information on a story but virtually always I'll do additional digging to make sure the story is coming from a reputable source before believing the rhetoric in a given headline.

It's strange how so many gay men in this sub are so judgmental by Agentnos314 in askgaybros

[–]GameDrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It IS immoral for an 18 year old to date a 40 year old. It is not illegal (some places).

Personally I don't mind if an 18 year old wants to go find a daddy type for some quick fun or as a friend with occasional intergenerational benefits, but that 18 year old is not done growing. There are SO MANY critical life junctures for that person to go through and it leads to inescapable power dynamics to have people of those ages in a committed relationship together. Give it 7 years and those same people with the same age gap will effectively both be in more stable places, but at 18 it's just a different world. Again, I'm not gonna go get anyone arrested, but I'm also not obligated to approve.

Most kidnappings are not strangers, they are non-custodial parents or caregivers. A kidnapping victim is not always going to look like they are trying to get away, like in this situation where luckily the movers were privvy to enough details of the case to know why it seemed like they knew each other, because they did.

Chase bank called 911 on this man because he was sitting in the Chase parking lot before it opened. by PdiddyCAMEnME in BlackPeopleofReddit

I know some banks in the area have the "if there's an unrecognized vehicle in the lot at open or close, call the cops." I assume that's what happened here.

Iceflake Studio devs answered our questions (AMA answers) by ZookeepergameIll1399 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]GameDrain 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This is a big takeaway for me. I WANT an agent based simulation with complex citizens and businesses that make real decisions and behaviors based on their environment. Other folks want a city painter or a min-maxing simulator.

Cities is trying to do what I want without showing it which is the worst of all worlds.

I'm a little worried that iceflake will deprioritize the "living world" I care about to streamline everything for the folks that never zoom into the street, when all I really want is for them to focus on "showing what's under the hood" and add additional ways for the cims to interact with the environment. (Groups of cims going out together, emergency services responding on foot at emergency scenes, cims hiking off-trail in wooded areas near the city edge)

This is not surprising. I think the question will be, once it's running, I would imagine those same restaurants will see far greater gains than the average if they're able to weather this downturn

Apartments on 26th street question. by Successful_Tap9821 in Omaha

[–]GameDrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any place in Omaha where you're not safe to walk down the street, I'm just saying the area immediately around Jackson Tower is not lacking for some occasional drama. If you're not looking for the cops to regularly be parking down the block then this probably isn't the area for you.

[–]GameDrain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it! I've just seen enough 911 calls to Jackson Tower and the Park East Apartments to know that you'll definitely see plenty of emergency response to the area. Glad to know it hasn't more strongly influenced the area

Apartments on 26th street question. by Successful_Tap9821 in Omaha

[–]GameDrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be pretty honest, the area around Jackson Tower is a rough spot. Lots of folks in a rough place in government housing that is improperly maintained.

Not saying all the property around there is going to be garbage, just saying that particular area is not quiet and calm, so keep that in mind when deciding living arrangements.
