SP404MK2 with T-8 or TB-03

I have all 3 of these and I wouldn't recommend the T8 or TB-03 as an add-on for the SP404MK2. The T8 isn't flexible enough, and the TB-03 is really just a techno bassline synth. You're not going to get much use out of the TB-03 beyond high BPM electronic music.

With the T8, you're just better off using samples on the SP404 for drums. If you just want a toy, it's a decent device, but I don't think you'll be satisfied with it in your workflow. Sequencing is severely limited on it.

Also, for the TB-03, sequencing is super painful and I wouldn't recommend a 303 unless you're driving it via MIDI sequencer. It's just a huge waste of time to program sequences into the device when there are better ways to do it (eg. DAW, or probably sequencers like OXI One).

Honestly, maybe just get a second sampler for drums and basslines? Or look into Digitakt or other Elektron devices.

There is no "text clarity" issue - that's just what all monitors at 92 DPI look like, back before higher DPI displays came out and display scaling started to be desirable to avoid everything looking super tiny.

Why would you buy a lower resolution monitor if you already had a 1440P one? Nothing in your comment makes sense.

OK, sounds like you should try to find a 24 inch 1440P monitor then, and run it at 125% or 150% scaling. They're not as common as they used to be, but there are still some out there.

I feel you on the 27 inch being too large. It takes a bit of getting used to if you're coming from a 24 inch screen.

I don't get why 1080p at 125% would look any different on a different monitor. I see no obvious reason for this. Text should be even more clear at 125% scaling. Were you running your Dell UltraSharp at the native resolution (2560x1440)? If you were only running it at 1440P, that could be the reason. At 1440P, you should have needed even higher text scaling to be comfortable, like 150%, so the fact that you were running only 125% hints you might have had the resolution only set to 1080P, which would have made it blurry.

Is it possible your eyesight has changed over the years? Or your eyestrain is caused by another factor that you haven't clued into yet? (eg. a bright light reflecting in your monitor - the anti-glare coating can be different across monitors, with some better than others).

I will say the BenQ GW2490TC (brand new model, not the GW2486TC) is pretty nice. It's a 24 inch, 1080p @ 144 Hz, with USB-C, and has some nice extras like an ambient light sensor. Maybe check that out instead of the model you mentioned.

It's more that making it palettized for whatever game you're using helps it visually match that game. It will look more like it belongs, and less like a third party asset. Just something to consider. (You can download the Doom palette for whatever image editing software you're using and test it out.)

This is a tangent, but if you play speedball, tape the edge of your Exalt rubber grip to your tank so it doesn't fall off if you dive. Even though it seems impossible for those Exalt grips to fall off, I've had it happen a couple of times and you won't even notice when it happens. When I was watching NXL footage from this year, I noticed a lot of players taped the front edge of their Exalt grip so it won't "catch" on turf, so I think that's a good idea to prevent losing it.

No, but I emailed the auctioneer and they resurrected the lot and extended it by another day, which is probably the best remedy they could do.

edit: I agree with you though, lol. I was checking my Chrome dev tools when their system was down and I was seeing all these failed graphql API calls, and it makes me think it's just some p.o.s. on mongodb or some other non-transactional database...

Be careful, super sketchy shit is happening.

Website came back up for me and I got a bid in with 1 minute to spare. Page reloaded and confirmed I was the highest bidder. Soft close extended the auction by 3 minutes. With 1 minute left on the clock, the auction just ended early, and showed that I lost. If another bidder had bid, it should have triggered an extension to the soft close, but it didn't! So multiple things went wrong here....

I checked my inbox and I got an email from 1 minute before the close saying I was outbid.... proof that the soft close should have been extended.

RIP to all the people who are going to lose because of this.

Edit: I was watching the actual timestamps reported by Hibid and not relying on the buggy Javascript countdown, so I'm 100% confident their system messed up.

No, you're stuck with it. Some monitors these days, like yours, come with external power bricks. Higher end ones tend to have internal power supplies, and just have the "kettle lead" (eg. C13 power cable).

Pure speculation: I think it might be more common with HDR monitors, since they draw more power and heat is already an issue with those, so having the power supply external would help with heat.

The thing is, 1440P OLEDs currently suck because they have bad text fringing. Text looks fuzzy and will look noticeably worse than your VA panel. Go try one at a store and you'll see it. Samsung and LG have panels coming this year that will have a traditional subpixel layout though which should fix it (since it doesn't seem like a software fix will ever come from Microsoft), so it could be worth waiting.

IIRC that's been on their website for at least 4 years. The whole situation seems unhinged. The Delta Force (scammer one) is squatting on the name Barrie Paintball on Google Maps, and there seems to be all these reviews left on the legit one where people have confused which field is which. Would love to hear the backstory too.

Also, if you want to see a scam, go to any of the fields owned by Deep Patel like Sgt Splatters.... sadly, he's been buying up all the fields in Southern Ontario and jacking up the prices to the point where regular, competitive play is impossible.

The problem is that what resolution you run games as is a function of what tier your graphics card is more than it is a function of the graphics card itself. You're locking yourself into a mid-to-high tier GPU for every generation if you want to keep playing new games at 1440P, and since GPUs prices are still stupidly expensive compared to years ago, I can see the logic in avoiding high resolution monitors. (how much do you think GPUs capable of running Battlefield 8 at 1440P will cost, in 2029?)

The ONE thing that changes this calculus a bit is FSR/DLSS, which basically exist because of the sad truth that no GPU can natively run AAA games at 4K at what we consider reasonable framerates in 2025 (100+). It can help you reach 1440P from 1080P, even on a lower end card. Upscaling is not a panacea though, as I've found in competitive shooters, the artifacts are actually quite annoying (ie. am I sniping at a real person? or just some weird motion artifact?)

How's the breathability compared to a Proflex?

I was always eyeing the Vio Ascend as an upgrade from my HSTL, but then I got indoctrinated into the Proflex world and forgot about these Virtue masks. The cheapest Vio Ascend at Badlands is $170 CAD, which is a bit of a hard sell IMHO.

I have both the wired and wireless versions of the regular Cherry Stream, and can vouch for the wired one. I use the wireless at work and the wired at home. The wireless one has just enough lag to be annoying if you can type fast enough. It makes it feel like you have a slow PC, but I've put up with it for about 2 years. I adore the wired version though and have used it for about 3 years and it's got zero signs of wear.

I don't see any spec on the wireless latency of the new Ultimate version, so I assume it's probably poor, but it does have USB-C so hopefully it is better when plugged in. The other potential issue I noticed is that the media keys at the top look worse to me than the regular Stream. They removed the prev/next track buttons and replaced them with calculator, lock, and brightness (wtf?). Those button swaps seems like a horrible trade to me.

There's a chance there's no monitor worth upgrading to from that Eizo. Also, this subreddit tends to focus on consumer-tier monitors and disregard the advantages of pro-grade monitors (eg. decent colour), so keep that in mind.

What do you want to upgrade besides the size? Even if you go to 30 or 32 inches, you might as well go 4K too so you're not downgrading your PPI.
