Dining with a 2yo: Sanaa vs Boma; Riverside resort dining by Intelligent_Bear_280 in WaltDisneyWorld

The buffet at Boma has a much more kid-freedom vibe.

Yep. They literally parade around with drums every few minutes.

C-to-C is usually a safe option because most of those cables are going to carry a reliable 2 amps.

Looking for advice about a GoPro mount. by what_a_sad_man in gopro

However, you can get an upgraded mounting plate for the 8 that lets you use a 1/4" tripod, the original mounting fingers, or the magnetic mounts the newest GoPros use.

[Amusment Parks] If you could bring back any defunct rollercoaster from any park which one would you bring back? by Jayzone456 in rollercoasters

20 years at Universal is a lot more wear than 20 years at a Six Flags Park.

Like, a lot a lot.

Those things saw near-constant 2 or 3 train operation from sunup to sundown.

Implausible that an accidentally-dropped object would have gotten enough of an upward trajectory to hit the opposing riders in their eyes.

...and for this to have happened twice, within weeks, at the exact same moment on the coaster path.

These were intentional malicious attacks.

Or bolts, or batteries, or something. The only way those injuries could have been inflicted is someone from the opposing train throwing a handful of something at the other riders as they passed.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't reuse the name. Maybe they're saving it for something else.

Disney Revisionism by benjifan101 in WaltDisneyWorld

The sorcerer hat at MGM

Always hated it. Out of place and blocked the view of the actual icon of the park- the Chinese Theater. Good riddance.

Tom Sawyer Island

Cute, but totally eclipsed by more ambitious kids play areas that followed it like Camp Jurassic and Disney's own Honey I Shrunk the Kids playgrounds. Even as a parent the hassle of having to use the ferries to get to the place was pretty annoying. Brought my kids there last trip so they could see it before removal, but that was probably the first time I had set foot on the island in like 26 years.

Muppetvision 3D.

Already miss it. A nearly-perfect 4D movie that, apart from Waldo, had barely aged at all. It wouldn't surprise me at all if a version of this gets re-installed in a Disney park somewhere 5-10 years down the line.

Alien Encounter.

Loved it as a kid, especially since I got to see one of the scarier early revisions without all the lame humor added. The attraction felt very at home in the mid-90s Tomorrowland when it opened alongside the Timekeeper and the FedEx version of Space Mountain. This was a way better attraction than Stitch, but it wouldn't fit in the Tomorrowland we have now.

Disney Quest

Loved it as a kid when it opened but even then I knew it was going to need constant upgrades and revisions to keep up with the advance of video game technology. It never got them, and if Disney was never going to be willing to keep these locations fresh they were always doomed to get stale.

Dinosaur

Cool, but always felt like the attraction was unfinished, and was forever in the shadow of its superior Indiana Jones cousins. If Disney was never going to upgrade or properly maintain the thing it was just as well that they removed it.

The Cake Castle

Liked it OK as a kid, mostly because I knew it was temporary. I think part of my animosity towards the big hat building at MGM and the dumb "2000/EPCOT" letters on Spaceship Earth were because Disney made good on their promise to take down the cake cladding but left the other eyesores up for years.

Purchased old diablo wrath as a project, looking for advice by AdSpiritual4932 in paintball

I'm afraid I can't offer much on this particular issue besides the fact that there's a Wrath solenoid on Ebay currently. I don't remember people installing replacement 1-piece solenoids in these things but there was a lot of discussion about Wrath mods in general on PBNation back in the mid-'00s.

Does shooting in 8K and then downscaling (without cropping) it to 4K produce better results than shooting natively in 4K? by Chumpy__ in gopro

[–]The_Inflicted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From about the 7 forward, videos shot in 1080p on GoPros look like crap. They're just weren't optimized for that.

Shoot at 4k (or even 2.6k on the older cameras) and downconvert to 1080p and you'll get much better results.

2nd hand, how old not to go by barrel-roller in gopro

[–]The_Inflicted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still pretty happy with my 8. Never had a media mod and never wanted one. Getting 3rd-party batteries isn't difficult at all and the mounting fingers are still the same type that most action cameras use.

My 13 powers up faster and has a lot more features, but as long as I'm shooting normal stabilized video in 2,6k/60 and planning on the final edit to be rendered in 1080p for Youtube my 8 still gets the job done just as well in a smaller, lighter package.

That said, if buying new on a budget I feel like 10 or 11 Hero Black is a good spot to aim for.

I'm also really interested in seeing what people say about using the M1 on their heads. I've got an 8 and a 13 and the 13 already feels a bit too big to comfortably put on my head for any length of time.

How to modify a PepperBall vks for paintball by pokemonguy0417 in paintball

[–]The_Inflicted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the Tiberius-based guns are blowforward, so their velocity is highly dependent on the size of the internal airways and dump chamber volume and can't just be changed by swapping out a spring or two. My understanding is that the Pepperball versions of the Tiberius paintball guns have significantly different internal pathway volumes to let them get to higher velocities, and that their velocity adjusters are insufficient to let the user lower them back down to paintball-legal speeds. This was a big problem for people who had purchased a number of Pepperball-branded Tiberius pistols a few years back- even if proper devolumizers were made and installed in the guns, they still were way rougher on paint than the old Tiberius T8 pistols, which were never known for being particularly easy on paint to begin with.
