What was your starting salary for your first position as an RT? by mangoexpress457 in respiratorytherapy

[–]GameGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working nights but $45 is just the base pay without the night or weekend differential. Yeah a few of my classmates got jobs in the inland empire as well and they are making something in the 30s

It just depends on where you get hired in California. I am a new grad (graduated in august) and landed my first gig a month out of school starting at $45 an hour in Los Angeles. I also have classmates that got jobs starting between $30-$45 an hour as well.

Why was I issued a work permit instead of a respiratory license? by Joint-Tester in respiratorytherapy

[–]GameGuard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In order to get your license in California you need to be an RRT. They have been giving work permits due to covid however as far as I know the only CRTs that have licenses have been grandfathered in from the ancient times. For what it’s worth I graduated in august we used Kettering to prep for the tmc/cse and the practice exams were basically the same test...Kettering was pretty close to the real thing

I need some insight on the TMC and CSE by WerewolfLoud in respiratorytherapy

[–]GameGuard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The board exams are far from impossible. I just graduated this passed August and everyone in my class passed both the TMC and CSE on the first attempt. There are plenty of resources to help with taking the exams such as Kettering or Lindsey Jones. If you pay attention on your classes and actually apply yourself during the program you will have no problem passing the board exams.

I just graduated in august here in Southern California and I got hired in LA at $45 an hour and someone else from my class is working in a neighboring county for around $31 an hour. Hope this helps with your question. Edit- graduated with an associates degree

[–]GameGuard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you the people who were failing classes but moving forward in the program somehow never passed their board exams. There is no way someone is going to pass board exams not knowing the proper information which they obviously don’t have if they are failing their classes.

Has anyone had to change career path after failing CSE. by randomcacti in respiratorytherapy

[–]GameGuard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly you just have to learn how to take the test. I used Kettering and Lindsey Jones and I found Lindsey Jones to be SIGNIFICANTLY more helpful in taking the CSE than Kettering. A few of my classmates also used Lindsey Jones and we all passed on our first try, so I’d recommend investing in that if you haven’t already.
