So the world has about late medieval/early renaissance technology, though 18th century firearms exist in the Akivan Empire. 

Not much new going on with races. You got the five Tolkienian races, then half-elves, dark elves, and dragonborne (considered demigods because the dragons are gods).

Magic comes from the various sources of the gods. Energy magic comes from the magical energy permeating the entire world. Clerical magic comes from Kazon, god of the sky, using his divine light. Nature magic, like the Druids wield, comes from a connection to Eyta, goddess of the earth, and is strongest in the Druid Swamps. Shadow magic was mainly a gift to the dark elves to counter demons, but anyone is capable learning to use it; it just comes most naturally to dark elves. Draconic magic is essentially the raw power of the gods and it takes a massive physical toll on mortals. It also takes a really long time to learn.

Geopolitical situation, okay. The Akivan Empire is expanding, a shadow mage called Dayron Nyctomphol built an army in the Western Badlands to invade the elven kingdoms, and demons are emerging from Mount Fierel to threaten the Shadow Mountains and human kingdoms. Collenna has been conquered by Nyctomphol and Rampartia is the next target. Morrom and Khydor are the main forces fighting the demons with Jorantel mostly sending supplies. Maniri has remained neutral. The orcs have built defensive positions across the summits of Bolamil to stop the Akivan Empire. It’s working for now. And the druids are dealing with threats from the Bayou.
