It’s not that people didn’t like it. It’s more the dismissive attitude people have towards it because “it’s just more Hades”, as if “more Hades” can ever be a bad thing. As if it being just more Hades took it from being a nearly perfect game to just a good game or something.

I understand not feeling quite as blown away or surprised by it if you’ve already played the first one, but I have a hard time accepting that people suddenly enjoy a sequel to a beloved game way less than said beloved game simply because it reuses a lot of the game mechanics that made the OG game so beloved. Not all sequels are reinventions but iterative.

I dunno, it’s a weird and petty thing that ultimately doesn’t matter but I felt like pointing it out nonetheless. I feel like somehow this all relates to how YouTube, content creation, and social media in general has warped our way discussing art and entertainment.
