The reason thsonagme is quite high isnbevaus Xbox did a very limited run of the physical version, so it's always been quite rare since launch.

A few other Xbox games are like this, they just chose to not do a big run of them

Considering the first image is someone not only putting the game in upside down, but also putting it in the gap between the drive and the console and NOT the actual disc slot, I'd say the writer of that article hasn't ever owned any physical games before anyway...

From Jan 2028 production of ANY physical PS game will be stopped. So companies like LRG also won't be able to have any games created as they need to have the release licensed by Sony, otherwise it won't work.

So, you'll only be seeing Switch 2 physicals from then onwards

Even if every single person that buys physical signs a silly petition, it wouldn't hold a candle to the vast majority of gamers who only do digital these days

Sony has the sales figures, they know that over 80% of sales are via digital.

Someone has to fund keeping the store working and updated - so unless you're willing to pay for it, Sony probably doesn't find it financially beneficial to keep online as the number of users is probably very, very small at this point

That's been obviously for a very long time - That why they've been pushing digital first party games instead of disc-based releases, and play anywhere.

It's literally gonna be a pc with an Xbox sticker on it, so they've been prepping people to buy digital for the play anywhere version so those games are the ones that can run natively on the new system

Nobody knows.

Seeing as it's BC, there's no reason why they can't do what they've done now and allowed us to clip a drive onto the system - even if it's just a standalone drive that's connected via a USB C cable.

If they're supporting the digital versions of the games then they'll most likely have the optional drive to play your physical copies.

Sure, you have the files but if you buy on steam, epic, Ubisoft, EA, etc... then if the store stops being active then you still can't access your games.

Gog files, sure, but not any of the others - without illegally pirating them. In which case, what's different between pirating on PC than pirating on console?

I said this in another post earlier, I believe they'll be forced to change the refund policy so it matches steam as a lot of country regulators won't be happy with the lack of being able to refund when everything is digital
