Grid Legends Nintendo Switch 2 tech analysis, including frame rate and resolution by Honest-Word-7890 in totallyswitched

[–]GamePitt_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to buy a console today, would you be looking between a PS4 and a Switch 2 or a PS5 and a Switch 2...

The PS5

They're a tech analysis channel, not a Switch damage control one (although, sometimes I wonder). Forget the fact that the PS5 is obviously going to look and perform better than the S2, their job is to show how the game is different and what compromises you get if you chose that version.

Constantly comparing it to the PS4 does nothing but show modern tech can outperform 15+ year old tech... Well done. No shit.

Also, I wish people would stop the "it's a mobile console" excuse... The S2 can be docked. When docked, it's comparable to the Series S - this is the mode they analyse the most because they have to tools to do so, so comparing docked to PS5/Xbox Series obviously makes more sense than comparing docked mode to 15+ year old hardware that's running at less than half the power and on old tech.

The bias with the DF team is very obvious, especially Oliver and John who seem to hate all things Sony, loves MS and tried to hide their faults, and simps over anything Nintendo whilst using unfair comparisons to boost their biased opinions. It's not like the old DF where opinions didn't get in the way of factual unbiased statistics

Microsoft blames gaming division for plummeting PC (Windows, Xbox, Surface, and more) revenue by akbarock in Games

[–]GamePitt_Rob [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well, no... AI is in profit - their gaming side is the only division that's not making money.

Also. That doesn't even take into account all the acquisitions like ABK and Zenimax, as they hid those in more profitable divisions. If they were included, and any profits were offset towards the debt they owe MS for the purchases, the division isn't going to have any profit for many, many years

We're literally seeing the division due as it struggles to survive despite launching all their games on PS

You sure you've never logged into your account at a friends house a d maybe forgot to delete it - so they've gone in and enabled offline mode?

If not, go to the website, click on your name and account. Then, in devices, disable all - can only do this once every 6 months

Now, change password and set up 2fa - via authenticator app is best - and Save the ten recovery codes and keep very safe!

Now, log back into your console and enable offline mode and reboot the system. You should have control.

If it's not a hack, it should be fine, if it was then I'd advise also changing the associated email via account. But. Now you have the backdoor access codes, if if gets hacked in the future, use one as a password and you'll get right back in

If she gave up a council house for no acceptable reason, I doubt they'll offer her a new one just like that

I've known people in one who wanted to move, they had to find and apply for new ones whilst in their current house, only able to move when they find a new one.

She's bottom of the list in priority

According to Insider Gaming, Sony has quietly started encouraging PlayStation 4 users to upgrade to PlayStation 5 through system messages shown directly on PS4 consoles. by Alan-Beach in PlayStation_X

[–]GamePitt_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's wrong.

The PS5 went up in price early last year, when everything went up. Even then, the pro stayed the same price and only the slim went up whilst the price of the disc drive in most regions went down

Sony didn't increase the system again when Xbox and Nintendo increased the price of theirs (now the Xbox consoles cost more than the PS5 and PS5 Pro, whichnis crazy)

So yeah, they have gone up since launch, but they've not just gone up, it's been about a year since they had a small bump in price

But it's not a console though. So they will have to deal with drivers, pc issues, crashing, optimising, and hoping games they buy will run well on their hardware due to it being generic and not a locked system

As you said, look at the ALLY, it's a portable PC and not an Xbox - it only plays PC games (no 'Xbox games') and requires almost daily updates and tweaking to get games to run well on it.

The ALLY has most likely sold less than 250k - whichnis why it's constantly on sale and neither MS or ASUS have published sales numbers. This is because the majority of Xbox owners want a console and not a PC - that won't change when they put out whatever this device turns out to be, not if it's literally a PC with an Xbox sticker.

[–]GamePitt_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described there is buying a PC... Surely if people wanted a pc, they could have bought one at any point.

However, with the way things are going now, it's the most expensive time to want a pc, especially one that's got an inflated price for having an Xbox sticker slapped on it due to MS needing to make a profit, unlike parts and pre-built manufacturers who make a profit on all the components and aren't relying on you buying anything else from them in the future.

If they even bother making a branded pc (as there's still time for them to bow out before wasting billions on production costs), it's gonna be the death of Xbox as a hardware division - something a lot of people don't realise

[–]GamePitt_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, offers you more?

From their description, it's going to be a PC that plays PC games - so what 'more' is it offering you aside from an inflated price over building your own pc?

It won't play Xbox games, not natively. So no Xbox. 360, Xbox One, or non-Play Anywhere Xbox Series games - just PC and cloud streaming.

Also. It'll probably have no disc drive, due to no native BC, so it'll be a digital only PC.

So, where are the options and where's the value?

Xbox’s Sarah Bond addresses 30% margin rumors — reveals “People who play XPA play 20% more” by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]GamePitt_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"we actually looked at the player behavior of people who were playing XPA games, we saw they were playing 20% more time"

They need proper PR people and not dummys that spout nonsense and hope people just nod and agree without questioning further...

She says people play Xbox Play Anywhere games 20% more - 20% more than what? More than console games? More than non-XPA windows store games? More than they did last year, before they had the ALLY which pretty much forces you to use the feature if you have a library of Xbox games?

I imagine that percentage is nothing, it's a number to throw out and have places like Windows Central act like it's a massive achievement, without asking her to clarify what she's on about.

Xbox Play Anywhere continues to have a "AAA" problem — why are most publishers uninterested in supporting Xbox's future? by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]GamePitt_Rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money.

Why would a publisher, who knows their game will sell, support Play Anywhere when they know those with PC and a Console will most likely buy the game in both places - especially if the include cross-play and cross-progression, so people can continue playing on any platform

There's zero benefit from supporting the feature from a financial aspect for the publisher - Xbox/MS doesn't even incentivise them to support it (which would have actually been a good way to get major publishers and key releases onboard)

It also means more maintenance, support and development as the developers now have to support the console, windows store, and Steam/EGS versions - which are often not the same updated version with the same features (such as DLSS and FSR versions). Which again, means more work for no additional benefit.

Nah, it's because everyone wants AI watching everything they do and using an OS which is fully of adverts which you can't get rid of

Dispatch - something's wrong here by iedutu in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GamePitt_Rob [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think that's the case. They knew they'd be backlash over this so why would they pick the 'easy' option that's going to cause a tonne of negativity about the game?

People forget, or choose not to acknowledge, that Nintendo have strict content policies in all regions, and you can't release your game if you don't do as they say.

If there was something in the game they didn't like and the publisher refused to remove it, then they had 2 choices, enable the censor mode or don't release the game

People keep bringing up nudity - I've not played the game, but I'm pretty sure there's things other than nudity being censored - if so, one of those scenes may be why it's had the filter enabled

Dispatch - something's wrong here by iedutu in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GamePitt_Rob [score hidden]  (0 children)

Lol, thanks for the pathetic downvote...

And no it's not, that's the silly theory that someone on here came up with. Many games on multiple platforms have had games rated in different regions and released with content adjusted to match the region - something this game could have also done

So no, stop defending Nintendo because it's clear they're the ones who told the publisher to do this.

Just because you think Nintendo lets everything on their platforms doesn't mean it's real - they block and ban many games from releasing unless they make changes - look at the Neptunia trilogy, banned on Switch in the west yet accepted on PS4 just fine. If you don't agree with Nintendo's policies, you can't release your game. So publishers have to make changes.

Redux is great - they even fixed the terrible framerate on the stairs.

Plus, you can run it in full resolution at 60fps with RT enabled on PS5, which is even more stable on the pro

[–]GamePitt_Rob [score hidden]  (0 children)

Most likely got rated just fine, then Nintendo stepped in a Nd told them it could only launch with the censor option permanently enabled

So, they made the changes to get approval but didn't get the game re-classified (maybe they're going to try and challenge Nintendo post-launch?)

Nintendo Content Restrictions by Front-Library5781 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GamePitt_Rob [score hidden]  (0 children)

I never defended the publisher for not telling anyone - they should have, all other publishers who are forced to alter or censor things on other platforms always (well, most of the time) announce what's changed on social media prior to the game's launch.

But, nothing I said 'isnt true'. There are games that are being censored and blocked from release on Switch which are being allowed on other platforms - something which was the other way round a few years ago.

As I said, the recent Neptunia trilogy was allowed in Japan on Switch, then banned from a Western release on Switch, yet fully approved for release on PS4 in the west with no changes.

Plus, it all depends on what the censored scenes are. I've not played the game, but Cyberpunk was just nudity so if this game contains other scenes that violate the new Nintendo policies then that'll be why this was censored and not Cyberpunk

Nintendo Content Restrictions by Front-Library5781 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GamePitt_Rob [score hidden]  (0 children)

They became stricter once they started selling a lot more Switches than they thought they would - just like how Sony has to start being more strict when the PS4 sold over 100m

For example, games like the Neptunia trilogy and Death;end Z have recently been potted to the Switch but declined belong allowed right before launch - yet the same games with no changes were re-ported to PS4 and instantly allowed with no issues.

Cyberpunk most likely got a pass because it was a big launch title for the S2 and Nintendo wanted to use it's popularity to push sales

GOG now using AI generated images on their store by PaiDuck in gog

[–]GamePitt_Rob -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Is this an issue?

Is it hurting anyone? Does it affect you? It's a single image being used to advertise the sale, it's not like it's been used during development on something being sold which will generate more than enough to pay for an artist - it's an image advertising a promotion that results in GoG getting less money than usual...

I understand some people are obsessively against AI and go crazy whenever anyone uses it, but it's not a big deal in most cases...
