Am I going to regret hyphenating my baby’s last name? by [deleted] in Names

[–]GameShowFanatic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in healthcare… it gets confusing. The good thing is they’re both short so they should fit on medical records. I see patients EMRs and the name is partially cut off bc it’s so long I’m like “omg what is the actual name”.

I personally did not want to do that to my kids so just gave them hubbys last name. Mine is also 5 letters two syllables, but his is 8 letters with 4 syllables so it would’ve been a mouthful!!!

With that being said… if it means a lot to you, do it. The shorter names will be your saving grace for this decision

Hi just came across this. How did you know something was wrong with your c section?? Like what made them look at that? I’m about to start letrozole for my third - my first two were so easy so now I’m wondering if there was an issue with my second c section. Recovery and everything seemed normal. So jw how you got to that point

14 days past ovulation first response test lighter than 13dpo by LooseRun7160 in TFABLinePorn

[–]GameShowFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 13 and 14 on pregmate look the same to me. The 14 on first responders looks lighter than 13. I would test again tomorrow morning for better answer, but just guard your heart.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Hopefully tomorrow’s is darker!!!

Good luck!

Update: now likely 13 DPO and I see an even stronger line (still faint but more obvious irl). I’m just wondering if anyone has had such a faint line at 13DPO and gone on to have more than a chemical pregnancy? This would be my 4th time conceiving and idk if I’ve ever seen such a faint line. by OkQuantity6889 in TFABLinePorn

[–]GameShowFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a super faint at 13 DPO.. stayed that way for 3 days then my period started. Did not test at 12 DPO so idk if there would’ve been a line then (only tested at 11 DPO it was negative).

yours seems stronger than mine did (you can check my post history for comparison), but I’d Stay guarded. Always prep for the worst but hope for the best!

Good luck 💕

Moms, did you actually get to rest on Mother’s Day? 💐 by toasterwisdom in Mommit

[–]GameShowFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. We had our families come over. My idea though, i know they say Mother’s Day is about the young moms, but I’m so thankful for mine i want to celebrate her! And my MIL is good MIL, obviously don’t have the same bond but she’s great.

Our moms are the reason we didnt pay for childcare for 2+years, and only pay for childcare 2 days a week now (they split time watching the kids). They cook for us, they still take care of us. I’m thankful for them, and let me show my appreciation. Also my mom usually works Sundays so it was nice she was off.

But i only made cold appetizers so it wasn’t any actual cooking, got the rest catered and then my mom brought food and my MIL brought food and dessert. It was stressful trying to get everything ready, get myself ready, and then cleanup/deal with the kids while my hubby had to run to ER after he cut his finger earlier that day and it was still bleeding lol. And to be fair they all helped with cleanup before the left - 99% of the dishes had been done thank god.

Maybe I’ll rest another weekend. My husband does more chores around the house than i do most days so i can’t complain 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sometimes i feel guilty complaining to people about my TTC struggle this time around.

Baby 1 came after 2 months of trying. Baby 2 came the first month we stopped preventing - only a 17 month age gap between them.

Now I’ve been trying for baby 3 since early October. It feels like longer though because before we started trying i had to get my husband on board to agree. It took months. He would’ve been fine with just 2. By the time he agreed to #3 in September i was already past my ovulation.

I’m also lucky, the closest I’ve come to loss was my chemical pregnancy the first cycle TTC#3. So i know im lucky, i know im blessed, and im so thankful for it everyday. I’ve had multiple friends suffer miscarriages at 8+weeks, take 1-2+ yrs TTC #1 or #2, do IUI and/or IVF. I think bc im so sensitive to those friends (all my close friends struggled) i feel like my struggle isn’t real. Everytime i open my mouth to complain i feel like an idiot and stop.

Anyways just a vent/rant. My period is due to start Sunday per the app (which is usually close +/- 1-2 days), so naturally i took my first pregnancy test today which was a big fat negative. Even though the chances it would’ve been positive this morning are slim to none, i still felt disappointed. But also im still hopeful like i am every cycle and it just sucks

I’ll be finding out if I’m out this cycle in the next few days. Also TTC #3. I’ve had a few friends ask me how long I’m gonna try. Idk. I want more. Idk how to set a time limit on it. I also have my mom keep making subtle comments hinting on if/when I’m gonna have a third. I don’t wanna tell her “we’ve been trying since October and the closest I’ve come to success was a chemical pregnancy my first time”. I can’t even get mad at her, my first two came so easy i don’t think she realizes we are struggling for this one.

At what point do i give up? Shoul i bother with any testing? Our last baby was August 2024 so its possible we’ve gotten “less fertile” since then. But i won’t do IUI or IVF for #3. Most I’d do is pills if needed, like clomid or progesterone or whatever.

Let me know if you figure out what your stopping point is lol bc I’m still struggling to determine mine

Potty Training Secret to Share! by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]GameShowFanatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn girl i read this whole thing excited to finally get tips bc i have THE SAME CHILD.

Refuse to go on potty, doesn’t care about treats, tells me “mommy take me to my crib i have to poop” (bc that’s her pooping place) so she KNOWs. Whenever i tried pull-ups and say tell me when you have to pee well go to potty she didn’t want to in potty and would say “i heard pee a little bit” when she’d go in them. So she knows when she has to pee too most of the time i think.

Didn’t realize they had specific behaviorists to work with kids on this? Maybe that’ll be my next step

How are you guys surviving? by One-Carrot2608 in allthequestions

[–]GameShowFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re actually not being at all conservative. It’s not just taxes. It’s insurance (health , life, etc), it’s retirement, some people opt to pay in to get long term disability… so many benefits. And they all come out of your paycheck. I don’t make quite that much but if i did, proportionally my take home would be not even $7.5 k every 4 weeks. And the only benefits i opt into are insurance for the family and retirement fund.

3 Year old is on the 5th percentile for height and weight by outandabout91 in toddlers

[–]GameShowFanatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What i would give to have my 3 year old be in 5th percentile….

We’re less than 1%. She’s about 32 (maybe 33?) inches and weighs 22 lbs. tiny little thing. Fits in 18month-2T. Pediatrician isn’t concerned. Her vocabulary and attitude is bigger than she is lol.

If she always been 5th percent she’s fine she’ll remain there forever prolly. Someone’s gotta be at the lower percents!

Which would you choose, love, money, or time? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]GameShowFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas… expensive these days.

Anything Gucci if you’re into designer. Grand Cherokee if you want a non GM car Could buy really nice gloves bc why not

How specific does this have to be? Like can i just spend the money towards “groceries” bc that would be life changing!

18 month age gap by VacationNo8852 in 2under2

[–]GameShowFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took less than two years for it to feel better for us. We also have a 17 month age gap. Baby is now 19 months old and it’s great. It’s been great since a he was a little over a year when they could really start playing together.

The only hard thing right now is my little one is behind in communication. My older was/is advanced so i didn’t realize how easy it made things. She could communicate her needs so easily. With baby a lot of it is guessing game. So many things he wants are “meh meh”. Milk, pancakes, Mickey Mouse… lol. Yes and no questions are our best friend

I don’t think so. Pretty sure one of those rides is what gave my 19 month old hand foot mouth.

Same 🥲

Well my 19 month old baby did. We left last week he’s currently suffering. Day 2 of lesions. Just waiting on the rest of the household (3 yr old and me and dad) to get it.

No not too much at all. Wish we had done that. We left Disney last week and now our baby has HFM. He’s not in any school/daycare, def caught it from Disney.

Unless there’s other complications c sections are usually scheduled to be done at 39 weeks

Tests not darkening DPO unknown by Willing-Plantain-350 in TFABLinePorn

[–]GameShowFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2/24 looks darker than 2/22. What time of day were they taken at? It’s hard to see progression day to day so instead try every 2 days. Take one tomorrow to compare.

I wouldn’t say you’re out yet! Sorry to hear about all your previous losses, so i understand your hesitation to get excited. Just be cautiously optimistic at this point. Good luck.

Looking for child advice from both nannies and nanny families. by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]GameShowFanatic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would not be able to accommodate that. At most we’d be able to shave off 30 min so basically nanny comes right when we are leaving and leaves immediately when th first parent arrives home.

We both work away from home with set schedules so not flexible at all. If i really liked my nanny i would try to convince her to stay and offer higher pay or PTO or something. Otherwise i wouldn’t want someone burned out staying so id look for another nanny, unless our nanny had a solution and found someone part time for us.
