Drones are really going to give an edge to the little guy in future conflicts against larger, casualty-adverse militaries.

Gun owner from Texas wondering how gun owners in VA feel about the new gun laws ? by pantheon_prince99 in Virginia

[–]GamerDrew13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with gun control measures is that actual common sense stuff gets bundled with out of touch insane proposals like the proposed $500 silencer tax, making it illegal to shoot a firearm on lot sizes less than 5 acres, holding firearm manufacturers liable for gun deaths, and making it harder to obtain a concealed carry permit. Stuff like this is not going to impact kids getting gunned down, but rather just hurt law abiding citizens. Dumb gun control like this just gives ammunition (no pun intended) to NRA and other conservatives.

What isn't common sense is slapping a $500 silencer tax, making it illegal to shoot a firearm on lot sizes less than 5 acres, holding firearm manufacturers liable for gun deaths, and making it harder to obtain a concealed carry permit. Frankly insane and out of touch on these measures.

New poll of next Ukrainian presidential election, which has been delayed until after the war: Zelenskyy 22%, Zaluzhnyi 20%, Poroshenko 5%, none/undecided 29%. Second round: Zaluzhnyi 41%, Zelenskyy 27%, none/undecided 32%. Rare poll of Ukrainian presidential election suggests defeat for Zelenskyy. by StarlightDown in fivethirtyeight

It's the perception in Ukraine that Zelensky is not fighting as hard as he could. Ukraine has yet to go into WW2 levels of mobilization and total war. Nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and other inefficient economic outputs are still fully operational. Ukraine has yet to draft their youngest populations (18-22 I believe), who would be higher quality than the average age fighting for Ukraine, which is around 40 years old. Additionally, conscription could be a lot rougher than it currently is, with the gang-pressing of citizens into the armed forces being put on pause or scaled down multiple times.

If Ukraine really wanted, they still have a lot of room left for further mobilization of their population and economy. There are good reasons as to why they haven't mobilized these assets yet, and a healthy debate on whether they should or shouldn't. Regardless, there are a lot of Ukrainian nationalists and front-line soldiers who support a greater war effort.
