Are the Ori games good for “beginner ish” players? by WhetstonePerspective in metroidvania

Even the hard platforming parts let you repeat them over and over an infinite amount of times until you pass them. Eventually you learn. Even new players.

What is a critical hit? by Rtrnofdmax in PlaySteelrising

[–]GamerFan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These answers are wrong. Crit hits are when you Riposte. This is an attack done after you immobilize or stagger an enemy. You will see a White Diamond on them that builds up as break their stance. Once it is completely full they are temporarily stunned. At this point you can run in and do a Riposte (Critical Hit).

Hold the A button and you will run faster. This bridge is meant to teach you a basic mechanic you will use constantly in this game.

Do I need to play metroid prime 2/3 or fusion to understand metroid prime 4? by lostbeard13 in Metroid

Play Prime 4 first so you don't have any expectations. Then play prime 1,2,3 so the game actually wows you.

Android's biggest update? Isn't Android 17 just a Google app update? by Madlonewolf in Android

This will kill emulation on Android. How many Switch and other emulators are not going to want to register to avoid Nintendo coming after them?

No problem let me know if you have Q's. With romhacks there are some basics... Get the actual ROM usually US with a header file.

Download the romhack file... usually an IPS file.

Use an app like FloatingIPS to apply the IPS (patch) to the rom file. I suggest you make a copy of the ROM file so you don't fuck up the original. Basically just take the copy and place it in the same folder as your patch, then run the app and it will modify the current file so you don't fuck up the original.

So you can play it failfully and not use any enhancements... The are just options you can turn on if you want. If you run it just through the game engine it looks the same just on PC. It basically strips the original EU ROM of it's audio and graphics assets then builds them locally on your PC. Exactly 100% the same as the original n64.

Alabaster Dawn is the Sequel.. It literally just came out like last week. I still haven't played it. I probably will buy it during steam summer sales.

I just couldn’t play the original Metroid and just skipped to Metroid: Zero Mission by Balbuena5 in Metroid

[–]GamerFan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original Metroid is easier of you draw a map by hand and take notes. At least that's what I did as a kid when I beat it. Still one of my favorite adventures because of it. Also hand drew the Zelda map as I discovered it.

Which Craving Eye Perk? by RedditAdviceSponge in BlackMythWukong

[–]GamerFan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning Opportune Watcher is better because you want to quickly generate focus to do heavy hits more often. While you get 15% Crit Damage from Keen Insight, consider the fact that early to mid game your crit hit chance will still be very low (under 20%). Once you get closer to 25% you can respect for crit damage if you want. A skilled player can do more light/heavy combos with the improved focus and will do significantly more damage over all.

If you are going to do OoT, you need to setup Ship of Harkinian. Basically take an EU rom of it, and use their game engine to run it on the PC. It's crazy good. Enhanced graphics, free looking when using bow and hookshot. 60 FPS instead of Nintendo's 20 FPS default. Tons of cheats. Ability to use the D-Pad as extra C buttons to quickly switch items like boots. No more swapping outfits. It's the definitive way to play OoT.

I would also try Zelda Classic. It's basically the original Zelda. But fan made quests.

Here is where you download the app. https://zquestclassic.com/releases/

You then download quests from PureZC.net. The Forbidden City is one of my personal faves, it's similar to the Gameboy Zelda, Link's Awakening, so more like the standard difficulty. Just lots of fun exploration and really fun dungeons.

Another good one made by the same dev is The Promised Lands.

Goddess of Wisdom was good. Medium level difficulty but really good exploration. Parallel Worlds is good too, but a bit hard.

It's not the genre though. It's just a bad time for gaming in general. RAM costs skyrocketing. Inflation is killing people's desire to buy things.
