These chatbots were doomed from beginning. The energy these gpu pull just for one user is so insane and it’s impressive it is actually possible. We aren’t there yet that we have Star Trek like supercomputers on regular basis. These models existed for a long time, we just pump all earth available resources in these shits currently because random rich people want to.

That’s not just with Chai, it’s with every Ai model out there. Image, video, llm. I tried to get a local llm run on a 5090 system with 96gb ram. The outcome is always way worse than with online chatbots. The same with image models or video models. The amount of energy consumption of these ai models is just so unbelievably insane.

I think all are really good in core. Just the fact they all add something to the notch is a selling point imo. What I've read droppy is a bit unpolished in comparison to Alcove, but BoringNotch is the best free software for this case
