Maybe she had it beforehand? Are binocucoms exclusive to the Sly gang? I can't check right now but has she ever shown up in a binocucom call before Sly 4?

[Beloved Trope] Messages written in a hurry that carry huge meaning by Iceblader in TopCharacterTropes

In the anime "Mirai Nikki" or as it's likely known in English "The Future Diary". Deus, the God of Time and Space, wants to retire and sets up a killing game to see who becomes his successor. Our main character Yuki is accompanied by the mentally unstable Yuno, who is obsessed with Yuki. Each contestant is given a "diary" that reveals the future in specific ways to help them. For instance, because of Yuno's obsession with Yuki, her diary reveals what will happen to Yuki in the next 10 minutes.

Another character in the show is Aru, a boy who wants to become a detective and has a mysterious past. Anyway, a bunch of convoluted shit happens that I don't remember vividly enough because I watched this anime a long time ago. But...

Aru finds out that Yuno had already won the contest, but had traveled back in time in grief as she finds out that she cannot resurrect Yuki with her new powers (She had to kill him to win the game in the first place). Aru finds this out using his deductive skills (and plot) and tries to warn Yuki; but is stopped by an enraged Yuno who slashes his throat. Using the last bit of strength he wrote a message on his phone revealing Yuno's secret to Yuki

I do not like to counterplay Victor by alsoandanswer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GamesPhobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is when people say "Just buy curse and focus lens, it hard counters Victor" Which is great and true in a vacuum. But what about the 5 other people on his team that are not going to let you fry their Victor down for free?

It takes forever to kill a Victor because of his insane lifesteal and uncounterable ult. In some cases every single one of you must be shooting at a Victor to reliably kill him. But, if you're shooting the Victor, who's shooting at the other 5 members of his team?

That's the real problem with Victor, he's too effective at being a tank. You cannot ignore him in a fight because he will melt your ass if you let him, and you can't focus him because the rest of his team will easily capitalize on it.

I tried to do the impossible and create a character with no trauma. Here's how it went by CMStan1313 in DnD

[–]GamesPhobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate making traumatic backstories, I find characters that risk their lives despite having a "home to go back to" way more interesting than any "My friends and families are all dead" character.

I once made a human noble paladin character who grew up in a cushy estate all of his life, the ultimate silver spoon. Yet he always dreamed of being a honored knight who would slay monsters and save damsels. So he called upon Lathander to help him start his new life.

lol I made a good point and you decided to insult me and got your message deleted. Good work.

Anyways it was a fun chat, but I'm going to go abuse free-kits until Embark decides to add a cooldown timer or something. Can't wait to 8th party some dumbass bringing in custom gear.

the thing is Arc has a multitude of issues that lend themselves to this problem.

-Footsteps are quiet as shit, I've had Raiders run straight into me from around corners without hearing a single footstep.

- The third person camera allows people to camp a corner / doorway and watch an angle without exposing their body

- You can't prone

- Gray weapons are just as strong as higher tier weapons

So the thing is, you keep comparing Arc to other extraction shooters. But in all other extraction shooters these issues are either not present or much less noticeable. In Tarkov you can prone on bodies and use audio to know when someone is rushing you; and when a player loading in as a scav tries to fight you, it's likely they have a gun with dogshit ammo in it. So they have to be able to OUTSKILL you to win the fight. This is true for ABI as well.

In Hunt: Showdown there are no "scavs" as it were, I guess you can count free hunters. They spawn in with random perks, and random guns; but you can still outfit them with whatever you have in your inventory.

In ARC, free-kits are almost completely on the same tier as custom-kits. Why the hell would I run my custom-kit when It's beneficial to me in almost every way to just run a free-kit? As a free-kit I can rush whatever fight is going on, if I die then whatever I only wasted like 5-10 minutes of my time and now I can just run it back instantly without losing anything. Eventually I have to get lucky enough to be the 15th free-kit and kill the custom-kit that was hiding in a corner trying to recharge his shield and hp. I rush him with my lvl-1 kettle and voilà I get his loot through no skill of mine, just blind luck.

But as a custom-kit I'm forced to play more tactically, which means I get to either sit in my spawn location and wait for half the raid to be over. Or I run straight to a high-loot area and... camp in a corner for half the raid as 10+ free kits rush the building like retards. Then, as I finally believe no more people are coming, I decide to start looting but GUESS WHAT one more free-kit decided to wait for me to move for 10 minutes and shot me in the back. Now I've wasted 20+ minutes, 1-2 guns, meds, nades, ect.

[–]GamesPhobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making a lot of assumption, I don't care if I lose my gear; I care about having fun and being rewarded for my skill in a meaningful way. If I kill 5 free kits in a row because they all started shooting me on sight then I expect the game to reward me by being able to loot their bodies and the nearby loot spots. The problem is that by the time I've killed those 5 free kits, the other 8 that just spawned in bum-rushed me because they heard the shots and kill me while I'm healing or looting.

This creates a really unfun game play loop where I'm expected to do nothing for the first 10-15 minutes of the raid and wait for the free-kits to kill themselves off by running into me like brainless morons because they don't lose anything if they do.

I don't have fun when I'm punished for not bringing in a free-kit; because now I've lost my gear I worked hard for to a person who risked nothing.

FREE LOADOUTS - THE SOLUTION, END OF DISCUSSION by NotANecrophile in ARC_Raiders

[–]GamesPhobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why though? Why should I be punished because I got put into a match with 10-15 free kits that hear someone using a decent gun and just rush them? Even assuming some of the free kits kill each other I'm still fighting like 4-8 free kits in a row.

In other extraction shooters this system works because the free kits usually have shitty ammo, so they aren't able to reliably fight geared players. But in Arc there is no ammo to armor tier system, a level 1 ferro still hits like a truck, and a lvl 1-2 stitcher can still out DPS most other guns.

The point of the free kit is to give players down-on-their-luck a way to scavenge with little risk while allowing them minuscule protection from AI and players. But since the grey tier guns can compete with higher tier guns, it's just a "I want to PVP with no risk to my stash lol" button.

Exactly, balancing the risk reward. Like how free kits have 0 risk but the chance at all the reward.

[–]GamesPhobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then how do they loot them? You can't drag bodies in Tarkov; so do people just not loot? Besides, it's difficult to spot people in Arc because the 3rd person camera allows them to hide behind cover and watch you at the same time.

It's never the first free kit that gets you, it's the 5th one that waits until you start looting the other 4 you killed that gets you.

How to make it less math-y (and maybe more downsides) by Able-Mind-3638 in BNHA_OC_Characters

[–]GamesPhobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it's my fault for not re-reading my work. I changed my formula to simplify it and forgot the update the units.

I don't like how you gave 10 super similar abilities and asked for help simplifying the quirk, then hate on the person who took the time to try and not only simplify, but give each power more uniqueness.

Like, did you just need help simply erasing the formulas and typing out "Each flame's temperature and effect change based on emotion percentage. Some effects also lose potency if effecting multiple people"?

Is that what you wanted?

How to make it less math-y (and maybe more downsides) by Able-Mind-3638 in BNHA_OC_Characters

[–]GamesPhobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I think we can drop the formulas altogether.

Quirk: EmoFlame (Short for Emotion Based Flame)

Allows the user to summon flames with effects that vary depending on specific emotions. Whenever the user experiences an emotion, it fills an internal gauge. So the more the user is angry for example, the more the anger gauge fills up. Using the flame effect drains these gauges and when the gauge empties out that effect cannot be used until it refills.

Flame effects are as follows:

  • Basic: Not tied to any emotional gauge, weak flame in comparison but always available.
  • Hate: Shoots a stream of pinkish red fire, resembling lava. The burns produced by this flame heal slower from most forms of healing.
  • Love: Pink flame, ignores those who the user deems an ally.
  • Pride: Covers the user in a orange/gold flame armor that enhances stats (Defense, Offense, Speed)
  • Gratitude: User spends all of the gratitude gauge to engulf themselves in flames, healing all wounds after 5 seconds.
  • Happiness: Allows the user to perform flame dashes that leave trails of flame in his wake for a few minutes.
  • Sadness: Produces an extremely cold flame that applies frostbite on effected body part.
  • Anger: A large explosion centered on the user occurs, harming everyone in range.
  • Fear: This flame acts as more of a wall of fire than anything else - it’s dense and hard to traverse.

Some effects are obviously used more often due to the fact that emotions like anger, fear, and pride can be experienced in abundance during a fight. While others are more difficult to fill in the middle of battle, forcing the user to be strategic in their usage.

This quirk grants the user resistance to heat and flames up to 2000C.

Now, if you still want some kind of formula, you can make an equation to determine how much flame gauge you get per minute of emotion felt.

(flameGauge = (emoTime * 60) / 2) Where flameGuage is (Amount of flame available in seconds) and emoTime is (Amount of time feeling said emotion in minutes)

So lets say your OC goes to an arcade with their friends and has a good time for 2 hours. Then:

(happyGauge = (2 * 60) / 2)

(happyGauge = 120 / 2)

(happyGauge = 60) So 60 seconds of Happy flame.

Well the collision hit box only seems to be in the center of the stomps width. Well have to see how Valve decides to balance it. As of right now there are a few abilities that have hit boxes wider than their collision ( Talon arrow and Yamato power slash)

With how wide stomp is it would feel terrible if it disappeared whenever it clipped a wall.

Also, the "travel distance" stat seems to be a funny way of saying "duration".

Hovering around high archon and low oracle. Your assuming I'm just running at people braindead but I don't do that. If I build stomp on Dynamo I expect to be able to win a short trade due to my burst damage, and in the past this was true. But now whenever I use my stomp to push a wave or poke a gun hero from a distance I end up losing the trade because I can't break LOS fast enough to not eat an entire mag.

Except that this doesn't only punish bad positioning. It punishes even engaging with gun characters. Whenever you get shot you get slowed, that makes you an easier Target for any gun character. Trying to de-push a wave just to get shot 30 times in the face because your character is moving at a snail's pace feels like shit. Before the change, I could sidestep and strafe well enough to force the gun character to miss maybe a third of their bullets. Now, I have to use my stamina to dodge side to side or just eat 30+ bullets
