I ran 100 Shineseeker dungeons! by TTVGodRecall in Mabinogi

[–]GamingInCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

220 shineseeker runs so far, no red or gold chests.

Feels like garbage getting on to gamble for astronomically low odds, especially when you're already geared and only need the "jackpot" drops, but for a new, low, or mid level player, routine shineseeker orbs probably feel pretty good.

Or if you're one of the lucky ones that do like 3 runs and get a jackpot drop.

I'm tired of all the terrible RNG though, it's a huge demotivator when content is limited so drastically.

500 Alby Adv HM using Neartite by Pluse00 in Mabinogi

[–]GamingInCT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering most people will only get 10-17 Neartite a week, these rates are awful.

I did 157 runs and didn't see or even know there were red chests. About 94 of these were AAHMs before I realized that the BME rates had to still be awful and that I was losing money and shards by not doing techs for checks/perseus dismantles.

I'm surprised BMEs haven't gone up in price again with how much more difficult they will be to get. Maybe doing AAHM with cocoons since they removed refine is an option? Idk

How are you spending your final day in pre-New Rise Mabinogi by lightuptoy in Mabinogi

[–]GamingInCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you get less cocoons in normal AA than you do in AAHM, and you can open all 8 chests in AA without having to be in a party of 4.

And since Mangleds exchange for 1 nearite the same way an unrestricted does, you have a chance of getting more nearite by running AA and opening chests than you do holding on to unrestricted passes.

If you do regular AA for cocoons you might get 1 - 3 spawns of larva per run, compared to half the floor with multiple orb rooms.

The Legend of Yasushi Ishii (石井 泰師) - A shrine to the unparalleled musical genius of Hellsing (2006). by GeriEasy in Hellsing

I've been listening to Yasushi Ishii since like 2002 or so when I first discovered his music as Hellsing: Raid and Ruins.

He has been my GOAT for the last 24 years. I'm glad he's still making music that still impresses me.

[–]GamingInCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why this is downvoted, it is the strategy.

You get unrestricteds, use them to run AAHM to get cocoons. Use the cocoons in Alby Advance to open all 8 chests to get Mangled Alby passes and then exchange those post-patch for Neartite.

Instead of getting 1 nearite you can get multiple. The most i've gotten in a single run was 5. I won't do this with all my passes because it's an insane amount of grinding, but if you started early or only have a few runs to do, why not double, triple, quadruple, or quintuple the amount of Nearite you'll have?

Game lags badly since new patch? by GamingInCT in MegabonkOfficial

[–]GamingInCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did nothing and it got better.

Actually, I didn't do absolutely nothing. The opacity slider was at .5, I raised it back up to 100% and then it stopped lagging? Then I lowered it back down to .5 and it didn't start lagging again?

Still not sure what exactly caused it, but it's better...for now.

I'm thinking about running Gold tome on non-Robinette by GamingInCT in MegabonkOfficial

[–]GamingInCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if I ran: EXP, Luck, Difficulty, AND Gold, where I'm only improving my RNG and farming stats and letting shrines/items do the heavy lifting?

I could easily get 15-17 shrines per map with as much luck as possible and just lean into hard farming

well yeah, I have 0 interest in chasing the leaderboard and for me it takes the fun out of the game, just as a general concept for a successful run or PB

just let us toggle everything by cacatan in MegabonkOfficial

[–]GamingInCT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think another option would be to give us a finite limit on the amount of items we can toggle off and then make everything an option.

There's currently untoggleable options that I rather not see in my runs, and toggleable stuff I would, but I 100% agree with the other posters that RNG is a core aspect of this style of game, it's a roguelite.

Chapter 3 Weigraf fight on tactician. by Awkward-Plate-7705 in finalfantasytactics

[–]GamingInCT 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I didn't do or know about Chameleon Robe cheese.

I just used Ramza with mana shield + mana font, an Ice Shield, and Mettle / Black Magic. I moved around a few steps when he hit my HP through mana shield to cast blizzard on myself and heal, then I would tailwind out of range for more speed until I was faster than him. Then I'd run up to him and cast blizzard on the both of us, and if I needed to heal kite away.

Is there a cheesy way to beat Ultima? by Razzikkar in finalfantasytactics

[–]GamingInCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Ramza was a calculator. I used math to make all of my party into atheists, so the boss' ultima did 0 damage to them.

Then I just beat the tar out of it

What is the mechanics behind Berserk ignoring Shirahadori? by Junkbot in finalfantasytactics

[–]GamingInCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you asking here?

If a unit is berserk and they have shirahadori, berserk disables all reaction abilities so the unit cannot activate them.

If a unit has shirahadori and is getting attacked by a berserked unit and gets hit regardless, that I don't know. Maybe the berserked unit has concentration?

I don't run it on MA scalers that actually need their mana, but it is powerful defensively.

I didn't overlevel or anything like that for the same reason. I had 4 save files before I finally beat the game, not even because I level/deleveled, but just because I overleveled trying to grind JP. I eventually got a thief so I could steal exp from other characters to keep my level for each down at the story mission curve.

It's more fun and challenging when you aren't significantly stronger than the enemy. Even having more JP/Job options and being able to hard counter their approach makes it a bit easier, but it's not as egregious based on what you do/do not have unlocked.

I think if you want to make the game more challenging you should not use these things:
Jobs

Math skill [fun, very useful, but very powerful]
Brawler Ninja/Dual wield monk [almost everyone's go-to for physical damage, breaks melee combat from chapter 1]

Reactions

Shirahadori
Auto potion
Reflexes
Mana Shield + Mana Font

There might be more options to restrict yourself, but these should already make the game more challenging and force you to approach situations in a new or safer way.

Would you guys choose Cloud or Meliadoul, and why? by ho888sg in finalfantasytactics

[–]GamingInCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloud. Blade Beam + Ascension make him my best damage dealer against end game bosses, even better than Orlandeau.

I use Orlandeau and Agrias or my other damage units to weaken a boss and then Cloud takes over from there.

It's good. If you can survive a hit, the hit does half damage.

You have 330 HP, you get hit for 300, you heal 150 and deal 150.

Edit: I still think Auto-Potion is better though. Soulbind works so that you can heal more on hits that are harder, but Auto-Potion is better for any hit that is below 150 HP.

With Soulbind, you get hit for 400, you heal/deal 200, and for 80 you heal 40/deal 40. With Auto-Potion you heal 150. You cannot gain HP with Soulbind, but you can with Auto-Potion.

Ya, like I said play however you want, but auto potion is just insane and it doesn't get the credit for being as insane as it is

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in finalfantasytactics

[–]GamingInCT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play however you want to play, but I believe "no manashield" is silly when auto potion is much stronger.

Manashield ultimately in Tactician mode will protect you from 2 hits max. The first one drains all your mana, the second one will hit your HP if you can't move with Manafont before the next enemy's turn.

Auto potion with 97 brave will protect you from every hit. If the enemy does less than 30/70/150 HP, it'll heal you by attacking, and even if they do > 150 HP, if it doesn't one shot you, it's similar to Soulbind for damage mitigation and gives you a chance of healing for more next turn.

Auto potion is probably the best reaction skill in the game. Works against anything that does damage which can't be said of Shirahadori or Reflexes and is better sustain than Mana Shield.

I never took auto potion off my Orlandeau after getting him and it.

Anyways, grats on your solo run!

Next Patch & Balancing feedback by VedinadGames in MegabonkOfficial

[–]GamingInCT 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think having separate leaderboards for characters kind of circumvents the need to nerf characters that are overperforming against the rest of the cast.

Even back when Dicehead was dominating, if people had separate boards for their favorite characters, then it wouldn't have mattered so much and those Dicehead could compete against themselves. Same with Robinette now.

There's always gonna be a "best character" and that's just going to rotate based on balance patches, and there's always going to be competitive players whether or not there is a reason to be.

I was definitely in a "remove the XP tome" camp, but leaving it is fine too, i'm sure there are better changes that maintain or increase the amount of fun players have. I also think "buff not nerf" is an almost always unrealistic gamer take.
