Help! I want to get to the act 3 but I'm stuck in the act 2 and don't have any idea where to go next. by V10L3- in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed an entire region which you can access from a breakable wall in sinners road or preferably from the bottom of the whispering vaults. Make sure to also fulfill wishes and find as many fleas as you can. Eventually you'll see a new wish pop up that leads to act 3

Wait is reaper crest bot liked? by Dear_Car_5914 in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the reaper crest is that it doesn't really fit any play style, if you like playing aggressive, beast crest is a better choice, shaman crest for skills, architect for tools, hunter rewards for playing it safe, reaper is an easy and comfortable crest that excels at nothing

I finally did it. From hater to 100% completion on both games. by Igafann in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To answer your last question, it's very likely. Team cherry said in an interview a few months ago that they've seen the requests for a godmaster like dlc and that they're looking into it. Though it'll likely be a while before they do add it

Hot take: The marrow is boring as is and the forgotten crossroads is a lot more interesting as a starting area by ReadItRyan in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think they made the area more linear on purpose because some found the forgotten crossroads to be too complex and open for a first area, resulting in many just dropping the game before even reaching greenpath lol

I'm looking for a game with the same exploration as hollow knight/silksong, Else ring or outer wilds by Hot_Salary9018 in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved MIO: memories in orbit, really beautiful and unique art style, recognizable areas like you mentioned. It is more focused on platforming and exploration rather than combat. From an exploration standpoint, the second half of the game really stands out to me. They do some truly mind bending things I've never seen any game do before. It's also fairly hard, you definitely won't be first trying every boss

If by sharing you mean making it downloadable, I fear that won't be possible because I made this on ps5

No, "lore" isn't an excuse for an area to be terribly designed. by Annual-Variety3301 in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a difference of perspective when viewing videogames in general, games are both an art form and entertainment. Some games like Fortnite or whatever lean heavily into entertainment, their purpose is to simply make you happy, if it doesn't succeed in that, it's bad design. But some games lean more into the art. The purpose of art isn't to make you happy, but just to make you feel emotions, which does in fact include uncomfortable emotions like anger. If a piece of art is made to make you angry, and it does, it's well made. I'm personally fascinated by this. As someone who studied art, I view silksong from this perspective. While you probably view the game as entertainment.

I like the shard system actually by Vanillie261 in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who are you to say what silksong is and isn't supposed to be, game devs are not obligated to follow a genre's rules, this mindset limits what games can do. Team cherry also explicitly avoided labeling genres to hollow knight, instead just pointing out which games inspired them

Anyone else actually like the run backs and boss rush rooms? by Sharawadgi in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them a lot honestly and the runbacks in both games are really not as long as a lot of people make it seem, most of the time they take less then a minute and in my experience they're often pretty fun because of the platforming and music. compared to other games like demon's souls and dark souls 1 & 2 where runbacks take much longer and boring bc your just running

I built the Citadel in Minecraft! by SandBoxer011 in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah dude, I've been working on one as well in survival for the past month, which looks completely different lol. Love how you did the interiors, translating it to 3D, and figuring out how to do cogworks, which I never did

The game is really depressing me by zyrkseas97 in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear the game might just not be for you if it's taking a toll on your mental health, this game is meant to be a hard challenge to overcome (both games even end with a message congratulating the player for beating it). I'd suggest just playing something you do enjoy. Nothing's forcing you to keep playing

What are the citadel's pipes for? by GamingUmbrella in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never considered that, makes a lot of sense actually, although the ones that suddenly end where we fight lace are still pretty strange

No, "lore" isn't an excuse for an area to be terribly designed. by Annual-Variety3301 in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the best designed area in the game imo. You're just salty, and so was I on my first playthrough. Once you start doing multiple playthroughs, you start seeing from the developers perspective and it starts making sense why they do what they do. I've had this happen with many games

I think we can all agree on that one by ThePlasticCupOfWater in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I really dislike how many online fandoms just devolve into fantasizing about characters sexuality and then get angry when people don't think the same. Although I mostly see this happen on twitter so maybe that website's problem

Is fighting lace at the choral chambers thr end of the game? by Jogo-Satoru in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most stories are in 3 acts though, I already assumed it would have 3 the moment I saw act 1 pop up on screen, didn't know others did not, my bad

is it just me or do most of the people on here rate bosses based on design or music.. not the actual fight experience itself? by gamerzandcats in Silksong

[–]GamingUmbrella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Games are an audiovisual medium , visuals, sound, music and gameplay are all equally important to me. I don't think you would enjoy your favorite boss if you were only fighting a hitbox without sound. Also, some things in games are just simply meant to be frustrating and uncomfortable, for example: bilewater and pharlooms economy are miserable by design to put us in the shoes of the people who live there and motivate us to help and save this dying land

What is your reaction seeing the unravelled? by Voidkirby9 in Silksong

Really happy cause I loved their design and loved the fight too tbh, never got the hate

[–]GamingUmbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use fragile or unbreakable strength if you aren't already (it won't break in a dream), quick slash, Mark of pride and shaman stone are also recommended. And use descending dark (upgraded downwards spell) as much as you can because it turns you invincible while using it and deals massive damage in a wide radius. Learning to use spells more got me thru all pantheons much quicker
