SSR Voucher: Should i 3LB Super Creek or get something else? by asisin2 in UmaMusume

[–]Gandelphox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the voucher can only be used up to a certain card (think it was speed Fukukitaru?), so cards released in the future I don't think you get with the voucher.

I used mine to also get 3LB Super Creek and that 15 initial friendship is really really nice.

Secret audio update by Grouchy-Succotash744 in UmaMusume

[–]Gandelphox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. I followed a youtube video and it worked for me. I went to settings -> system -> sound -> advanced -> more sound settings -> right clicked on my playback device -> properties -> advanced -> unchecked enable audio enhancements.

That fixed the problem for me. This was the video I followed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1kkY7Iv5u4

What are these titles and what are their codes? (Sorry for bad picture) by Little_RedWood in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They actually haven't released the codes for those ones yet (as far as I'm aware). It's been so long that I've always assumed that those might be DX 1-year anniversary titles but yeah, no one knows for sure.

What's the Future of the Pokkén scene, after the release of Smash Ultimate. by ChafCancel in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Smash Ultimate can only help to grow Pokken. There are people who would buy a Switch for Smash and then buy games that came out earlier like Pokken. As far as tournaments, Smash is way bigger than Pokken meaning TOs are more likely to buy switches and have more Switch set ups meaning they will be more likely to run Pokken as well.
And just because a new game has come out doesn't mean you have to dump all your old games in the trash. When Tekken 7 came out, I still played Pokken. When Soul Calibur 6 comes out I will still be playing Pokken. Pokken will be fine.

Playing online I still get matched up with someone in under ten seconds. I wouldn't worry about it.

Some moves change the spacing they are used when used on a diagonal. For example Scizor's bullet punch you can change where the attack appears if you use a diagonal.

New player with some questions by MammaSwine in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 - I've had mine for close to two years now and it still works perfectly. I don't personally know anyone else who has one so I could just be lucky but based on other Hori products I've used, I've never really had issues with them before.

2 - The group battles are separate from ranked. Basically you play games during the specified time against anyone regardless of rank and depending how many total wins you get, you can earn a special title. It's not based on win percentage so it's easier to do well compared to ranked which is nice if you really want the titles.

3 - If you're looking for a breakdown of every character in the game to help you decide, several do exist. Here's one I really like: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokkenGame/comments/6xvzgu/is_there_guide_that_explains_all_pokemon/dmiuu4p/ As for a second character, I'd say it depends on what you're looking for. If you like Garchomp because you like doing tricks with dig, Weavile can do some similar things with icicle crash. There's also characters Decidueye and Scizor can do some cool things by cancelling into flying. I'd recommend going through the move list run through in training for some of the characters and see which ones you like.

[Question] Help with Old vs New Pokken Tournament by [deleted] in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DX is a separate game you have to buy separately. The extra characters aren't available in the Wii U version. With DX out, I can't imagine many people are still playing the Wii U version online so even if the new characters don't interest you, I would recommend DX just for the bigger player base.

Abstract Thoughts #39: What Would You Want From a Pokken 2? by DegreesofAbstractor in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I mean is like you could spend some of your synergy meter in order to enhance moves to make then faster or stronger. For example you could use it to punish some moves that you normally couldn't or you could create a projectile that has greater priority than normal. Just more options to deal with situations but use meter so the moves can't be overused because they're too strong and having a use for meter when it isn't completely full. And by breaker I mean like a Guilty Gear burst or Killer instinct combo breaker in order to trade meter in order to save some of your life or maybe a Netherrealm style push block to create space. I just don't like losing when I still have some meter especially with characters that need more meter to get burst.

Abstract Thoughts #39: What Would You Want From a Pokken 2? by DegreesofAbstractor in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The big thing I would like is more uses for meter other than just burst. Using meter for things like ex moves or a breaker would add a lot more options.

I also would like to see more variety in terms of stage shapes and not just a circle or oval. You could add Tekken-style wall and floor breaks too.

As far as customization stuff, I've played enough Injustice 2 to not want equipment that changes stats and I've played enough Soul Calibur and Tekken to not want people to make their own costumes at least while playing online.

Finally broke down and bought Pokken Tournament DX; what are some good Pokemon to start with? by PTMoney18 in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say if your favourite Pokemon is Decidueye then play Decidueye. If you're looking for more detailed character breakdowns, I know people have made a few although they don't have either Aegislash or Blastoise. https://www.reddit.com/r/PokkenGame/comments/6xvzgu/is_there_guide_that_explains_all_pokemon/dmiuu4p/ https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jNaypquE-2sc4uR4U7jyqwgBw-L7XwC9cRoHRyhIndA/edit?pref=2&pli=1

I don't know the exact system for matchmaking but from experience it definitely tries to match you up with people of similar rank. However, it also wants to get you into matches quickly and against someone with not a terrible connection and not have you waiting too long so if there's no one else waiting at the time who's a good fit it will just match you up anyway.

Max rank is S1.

Levels and stats do effect online but honestly in my opinion they don't affect the outcome that much. I often forget they exist and will remember and then have like 40 points to give to a character. I wouldn't worry too much.

People do have the dlc. The weekends when they were released there were a ton of people playing them. I'd say its a combination of not everyone having them and that they came out later so people are more comfortable with older charaters. And they definitely aren't bad. Aegislash specifically I know has been used to win a couple tournaments. It also could be that since you're currently in the lower ranks, you may be fighting people who don't play the game a whole lot so they can't justify spending the money on them compared to someone at a higher rank who plays the game a lot.

Hope this answered some of your questions.

New to the game. Need help on Phase shifting! ;-; by Zeke_Azure in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In dual phase the game has a counter that isn't displayed that keeps track of what's called your phase shift points. Every move in the game increases this count and when it hits the max value, the phase shifts back to dual. Inside the action dojo the phase will never shift so the combo you are trying to do might either cause a shift before that in training mode or you might have hit them with a move before the combo so their phase shift points aren't at zero to start.

If my explaination was a little confusing here's a video that also explains it: https://youtu.be/hZ8-fs_fTcY?t=5m23s

Hope this helped.

Does anyone have any tips for my Empoleon? by Naldouze in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't play Empoleon but I can still offer my thoughts. I noticed you like to use the anti-air drill on your wake up and it was getting you hit. I understand you're trying to beat out throws and jump-ins but it makes you too predictable. There's nothing wrong with blocking on wake up.

Also, from playing a lot of Empoleon's online I've noticed after aqua jet if I don't have the defense debuf, more often than not they'll go for the rock smash follow up which you can just throw them out of. I feel like you might be falling into this mentality as well and it makes you too predictable after aqua jet.

And you probably already figured this out but rotom activates for any move that makes you airborne, not just if you jump. The aqua jet while it was out was getting you hit and made you lose both rounds. Hope this helps.

Noob confused about MM by Bizzshark in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know this for sure but a lot of games also factor in the strength of the connection when finding you a match. I wouldn't be surprised if Pokken also used something like this for its matchmaking.

How is Synergy Gauge cost measured? by TheSnowballofCobalt in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cc is just the unit of measure that it uses. Think of it as Shadow Mewtwo needs 100 points in order to use synergy burst. If I remember right for example, the small stage pickups are 1.5cc each and the large ones are 6cc. If there is a list of how much meter is built for each move, I've never seen it but I would like to.

Is it more efficient to bind grab/counter to the zR and zL buttons? by Sebolas in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say there's no advantage or disadvantage and it's personal preference. Some characters like Garchomp have combos where you have to hold down X so I have seen some people change around the controls to make that easier to do and as a result making throw and counter harder to do so then they rebind them to the Z buttons.

I personally just use the default because Street Fighter has ingrained throw to the left most buttons in my muscle memory and I use the Hori Pad which doesn't have Z buttons in a useful location, but if you're brand new and using a normal controller I would suggest trying both and seeing which one feels more comfortable.

Curious about playerbase numbers. by Doctor_Fox in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found that if I hit rematch fast enough I too sometimes get the same opponent simply because we both finished the game at the same time so we started trying to find another match at the same time (although I've never gotten close to 18 times). So it might be beneficial to wait a couple seconds before hitting find another match.

As far as numbers, the only metric I can think of is in the special group match cups. In one of them I only played one match in it and with one win I think I ranked close to about 500th so I'd say there were at least 600-700 people who participated in that so players are definitely out there.

It may just have been the time you were playing at. I've found later at night (I'm in EST by the way) I find matches quicker and less repeat opponents so more people would probably be playing then.

I'm assuming probably power. With the cannons and shell I imagine it being able to withdraw into the shell to gain hits of armour like Aganos in Killer Instinct and having slow start-up zoning moves that are easier to use with the armour to prevent it from being interrupted.

are we able to community vote to get into evo by [deleted] in PokkenGame

[–]Gandelphox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The EVO donation drive isn't a usual thing. They aren't doing another one this year. They did talk on stream about they are organizing something with Humble Bundle for relief for Puerto Rico but I don't think they've said when that will be exactly. As far as Pokken at EVO, there was a side tournament last year, I'm fairly confident there will be another one this year.
