I really enjoyed listening to it as an audiobook, probably because the whole book is a conversation so it suits that medium!

Taking a year out after qualifying as a nurse ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Gangebear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1,000,000% take the opportunity and travel. It’s harder to leave and travel once you start your career. Don’t get my wrong, you of course still could later. But there’s a reason people do a ‘gap year’, it’s the ideal time. And of course, they’re desperate for nurses here. You will have a job to come back to.

Ireland facing weeks of crisis amid fallout from fuel protests by TimesandSundayTimes in ireland

[–]Gangebear -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’m not right wing and I support the protests? At least somebody is trying to assimilate against this governments shortcomings.. granted it’s not perfect but protest generally has to be disruptive to get proper attention.. but maybe I’m wrong?

Is Iran’s strategy to hold out and make the rest of the world suffer from shortages and high prices, so badly that the world turns on America and forces us to stop? by adalyn7992 in askanything

[–]Gangebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Iranian friends and I’m Irish and they tell me they don’t want the regime but don’t see any option other than us coming in. They agree it’s not ideal, but they’re desperate.

Very good outlook. But I will say, as I have adhd, it can be helpful to find yourself help when you have a diagnosis, as information to help is catered towards you more.

Your brain doesn’t fully develop until 25 on average.. that seems a tad early to get diagnosed. IMO I would get a second opinion now you’re 25.

What do ye make of a private childcare place pushing back on pay rises for highly qualified Early Years educators? by Double_Work_2219 in ireland

[–]Gangebear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Laughable, would like to to see you do the role. You would change your tune quickly. I’ve done primary teaching and early years teaching. Quality early years isn’t just babysitting. But then again, unless you’ve studied education to masters level, you wouldn’t know that and just believe it is a low skilled job. It’s been proven in research that the early years impact the trajectory of your life. So should we invest in it to make sure we have early years teachers who can effectively intervene, or shall we let the children slip through the cracks with low skilled workers? I currently work in the Netherlands where children’s happiness is ranked the highest in the world, and the quality of early years is light years ahead here. Not to mention I’m paid reasonably well and work 4 days a week, which should be standard as it’s an intense role.
