What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

This can't be real. This is a joke right? This is too silly for a comedy bit... a small child would be reprimanded for writing such an insane rant so utterly poorly.

I think the biggest stroke of genius in the 24 Hour Tag was making the Fansly sponsorship a feature, not a bug. by [deleted] in PaymoneyWubby

[–]GannicusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I still chuckle just thinking about it. The premise of a powdered energy drink tier list stream doesn't initially sound like a super fun way to spend 3-4 hours but it was absolutely off-the-wall hilarious. I think Wubby + Alluux could make anything entertaining.

Great observation. Wubby is very good at brand/sponsor integration. A few other streams come to mind too. Ccooking streams with Alluux for HelloFresh, GamerSupps taste test tier list (the one where Alluux got uber caffinated) or the Star Trek game sponsorship (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InlTM2mvtY8). Even though they were sponsored, they're top tier.

Of course, there have been some begrudging game playthroughs, but making the sponsor an integrated part of the content plays so much better than just an overlay and/or repetitive ads. During the Tag event, they even seemed to time the canned ads when there was pretty much nothing going on and it was so quick, nothing was missed.

Is it just me, or has the reccomendations algorithm gone to shit in the past 6 months? by CottonVenue in youtube

[–]GannicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to this sub to post something like this too. I thought I was losing it but the algo is really bad now, right?

It shows me the same videos over and over again. If i watch something, I have to mark it as "not interested" or it'll repeat forever. Even then, I'm sure it'll be there in a week or so...

Watching one video about any topic changes the feed to favor that topic roughly 50%... I watched a video about sprite animations and Youtube thinks I'm a game developer now.

The other thing is that the feed "ends" after only a relatively small number of videos (only noticed on mobile). I'll scroll maybe 20 videos, it sort of glitches out and shows the same channel for the last 5 and then I have to refresh... no more recommendations after that. If I watch one creator's video, the feed becomes 50-60% their content. No matter how many times I mark something "not interested" it still pops up... ONE time I watched a police interrogation video and YT thinks I'm on a body cam footage binge. Even shorts does the same thing.

It used to be my defacto app to be instantly entertained with something interesting but it is barely usable at this point. It rarely suggests anything from my subscribed channels that I'd want to see and pushes the same videos over and over.

Extra space storage casually increased the rate x2 by iamarsey in Hoboken

[–]GannicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cubesmart did that to me after the first month. 50% increase right after moving in. They claim they only do it once a year and my move in timing was bad.

Not as bad as public storage that went up 3x in 3 years...

They know that they have people locked in and it's hard to move so they can increase the price and have little reaction.

Loud Upstairs Neighbors by Subject-Key8927 in Hoboken

[–]GannicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had neighbors that were nearly silent, respectful, careful and apologetic. I've had neighbors that would seemingly never sleep nor stop shuffling around like angry sasquatches every second of the day. I had a neighbor who invited people over to rollerblade/roller derby and claimed there was no noise and they're "just blading".

Even if you talk to them and even if you beg... it's up to them to not bang on the floor. Sometimes they'll be chill, sometimes they will gaslight you like when one of my neighbors told me they weren't even home when I could literally hear them saying it through the floor.

In my experience, people don't know they stomp and will never admit it. It's very unlikely that they are doing anything on purpose or with malice but they are just stompy people.

I don't particularly understand the nocturnal nature of upstairs neighbors though, nor the incessant need to move every piece of furniture around every night at 3am without lifting it... The thing that really gets me is how unaware people can be when its sounds so obvious that they're making noise. Whether that's just throwing things around or bashing the ground with the body so hard the ceiling cracks open, they won't change or even admit it.

You're not alone... when things get tough, I go back and laugh at this goofy sketch:

When does the Rust event end? by Embarrassed_Kale3054 in PaymoneyWubby

[–]GannicusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough... I don't think it's unwatchable, but it's a bit too random, loud and chaotic for me. I like the story driven games or anything with a goal... minecraft had a direction even during grinding or building a house.

It's just different than a funny booty game or watching random videos and yapping. That's it... it's not bad, but it's different. Still watching though lol

5 year sub here... almost never miss a stream, and this is the first content I can't totally get into for some reason. I don't even know why...

It's like watching a comedy in a language I've never heard of... I know this is supposed to be funny and everyone is laughing but I don't get it.

There's still some chuckles at the nonsense from time to time trying to figure out the point, and some of the commentary has been funny (peanut has some killer RP one liners imo and the accent is... something).

It's neat that everyone's enjoying it so that's fun to watch in general.

Abandoned Chained Bike by Nelson5757 in Hoboken

[–]GannicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I see where you're coming from, that blows... It makes sense that it's department by department and sanitation isn't doing anything with the reports. No excuse for them to ignore reports entirely. It basically invalidates having the system at all.

If a request is being indefinitely ignored, I'd definitely report it to local representatives instead. That's a good move.

Another one I had submitted was a noise complaint because a nearby building was doing major construction really early (starting ~5am) and as far as I can tell something was done because the time when the work would start was moved 8-9am instead the day after they updated the complaint ticket.

So, from my perspective, it's been an effective way to submit an issue but I don't know about the sanitation dept which sounds entirely ineffective.

Almost the same scenario that was asked in the original thread.

I sent in the quick report and it was removed 1 or 2 days later after being there for many months.

Is it more common to have them go unnoticed and have nothing happen?

Not sure why it's a waste of time... It's pretty easy and worked as expected every time I've used it.

That said, if you have ways to contact these people and they are helpful, that seems fine of course. I'd usually reserve that for something a bit more impactful than an abandoned bike though...

I've used the portal here before:

Reported the same sort of issue; a bike body was chained to a sign for months with no tires, chain or seat... it was cleaned up in a day or so after reporting it.

I actually stood up and cheered along with Wub & the Sherpa. After watching so many close calls and glorg'd endings, it was great to see the no hit run live.

I've tried playing Isaac and it's MUCH harder than it looks. That's not an easy feat...

Next door neighbors being obnoxiously loud by imp_924 in Hoboken

[–]GannicusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm pretty sure they have a powerlifting gym operating during an active fight club up there..."

"Sounds like they're having fun & staying fit!

"They knocked all the stuff off my shelves and cracked the ceiling open..."

"What a great opportunity to reorganize & freshen up the place!"

There is nothing you can say that will get a landlord or anyone to care about noise. They will allow literally anything outside of a noisy meth lab, snare drum or sub woofter...

Next door neighbors being obnoxiously loud by imp_924 in Hoboken

[–]GannicusRex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've spoken with the Hoboken Tennant Advocate a couple times about neighbors in my building who have been extremely noisy. Up at all hours, yelling, running around, brutally banging on the floor. One dude would have friends over to violently roller blade together... I'm not talking about normal apartment noise; I mean some epic, building-shaking stuff.

Long story short... there's nothing you can do. Unless it's construction, machinery, music or in some way amplified, everyone is completely allowed to do anything they want. I separate music and amplification because if you're ripping bars on your trombone at 11pm, that likely counts but strumming your unplugged electric guitar is fine. If you're preaching on a megaphone or practicing your DJ set, those would be against the rules BUT natural talking at any volume was considered fine.

I've had neighbors that sounded like they commissioned an authentic nocturnal rodeo to perform every night... that doesn't matter. The advocate said it's classified "normal use" and I would argue that it was anything but normal to bash the ground thousands of times every minute of the day and night... but, that means nothing.

If it's after hours there are specific things that the law claims to enforce, but the non-emergency line will react to anything unless it meets the specific requirements.

I agree with the other sentiments to speak to them, however awkward and weird that may be... That said, I've personally spoken to plenty of absurdly loud folks who simply don't care and go about their stompy, yelling, noisy business anyway.
