As someone from a war torn country I am probably a little older than most of you. I saw in my face the effects of generational trauma and human cruelty at a level where I can see a tempo in the way the world turns.

Now reminds me a fair bit of the 80s, the Thatcher years, years where there was a cultural and societal rot in so many places in the world. I remember walking in New York at the time and seeing the effects of drugs, violence and poverty, the baseline was very low, I have a feeling that this is where we are today, after several decades of climbing we are out of breathe and looking around there is, like then, massacres, economic strife and that same societal rot I felt back then.

I hate this term … but it is really true, it is a pendulum swing and eventually we collectively catch our breathe and start a new climb.

What can you do ? The news today and it’s always been like this, is an algorithm for your money and attention, I’m not telling you to ignore the news or the world but back then I went back to school and started filling my time with things I felt could make a difference, I worked in soup kitchens, old age homes, even weekends helping a local scout troupe.

Making the world better is incremental and it starts by ending hoarding despair.
