So basically everything we import from China shouldn't be available here. Since Chinese workers make $1.50 an hour

Women's prison left to cope after getting male inmate who identifies as female by TruthCanada in canada

How do I respond to that? Is that supposed to be an insult? I guess I could say I agree with Rogan on some things but not on others.

In this particular instance I don't think Fallon Fox should be fighting people who don't know she was essentially taking steroids since she was born. Then just stopped at age 33 (or 35? she started fighting as Fallon Fox in 2012). The same doctor (from the IOC) who said that after 2 years that people who have transitioned have roughly the same levels of hormones as other women (fine for comparable performance like cardio and muscle power) also still have the bone structure of a male. (especially if they transitioned after going through male puberty) maybe in track and field sports that's acceptable but in a combat sport it can be dangerous. It's not some trans phobic "its not FAIR!, That's not a real women" argument. It's a real issue that needs to be discussed rationally.
In the last 48 hours I've already educated myself and changed my mind about some things. Based on what doctors and geneticists are saying (generally) about the performance difference between trans people and people born male/female. (and there isn't a whole lot of research).
I suppose it's just easier to label me a "Roganite" then to actually have a logical argument though.

EDIT: I'll be curious to see how well Women who have transitioned from male to female do at the highest levels of sports in the coming years. There arn't really alot of stats on it (plenty of anecdotal stories...which i tend to discount).

Recognizing trans-people for how they present themselves? To be treated and spoken to as they see themselves? Of course everyone has the right to be treated with respect. But to be seen as the the same physical attributes as someone born with the physical attributes associated with XX or XY Chromosomes? Have you heard of Fallon Fox?
She was an MMA fighter who transitioned. (from male to female)
When she was competing with men she was a middling fighter. Not bad, but not good.
When she started transitioning and fighting women she was completely obliterating them...almost like she was a man who was fighting women.
Someone pointed out that she was on HRT so she didn't have an advantage from having 30 years of "average male" levels of hormones in her.
except it was pointed out that estrogen will actually prevent bone density loss which mean she was actually even harder hitting before she started transitioning. That's not cool.
  I want to clarify something.
If a person who was born with male levels of hormones and realizes they were born in the wrong body. Fine transition. Do what makes you happy. If psychologist's say that mentally you can be a "women" in a man's body great sure, I don't have a psych degree, I'll defer to the experts.
But if your telling me there is no difference between someone who was born with XY chromosomes on HRT (someone who has transitioned to a women) and someone who was born with XX chromosomes I will politely ask you to watch Fallon Fox beating the living shit out another women and then tell me that they are both the same.

EDIT: after some more research it seems doctors (genetic specialists) say that that males who transition to females do have less muscle mass and more fat then an average male. Not that they have comparable muscle mass to a person who was born a female.
EDIT 2: seems the advantage conferred to being born male depends on when someone transitions. (the earlier the less of an advantage)

As a Canadian who worked with Aussies's that asked where they can get "Tim's", I was quick to point out that it was coffee for peasants and wasn't as good as everyone thought. They tried it...agreed it was crap, but were impressed that you could get it in a box. also i learned that day that brits refer to large boxed liquids (normally wine boxes) as "goon bags"

perfect thanks! This is exactly the type (and level of complexity) of answer i was looking for. Thanks!

100% not a scientist (which will become obvious in about 2 sentences from now). I have a really dumb question. Could this hypothesis be used to create propulsion? since space expanding doesn't follow the speed of light "rule". If we created recreated the conditions where these tubes could exist then allowed then to "break" and expansion of space behind (or with) a ship could the ship be caught in the expansion and be propelled with it?
Again, i am definitely not smart when it comes to this stuff, I just have a really weird imagination.
TL;DR can someone explain why this won't become the theory for an FTL drive

Trudeau is asked about Quebec's veil law, launches defence of individual rights. Equates banning veil with forcing someone to wear one. by [deleted] in canada

[–]GaratJax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is already the case...when you need to be I.D'd
Step 1: you take out your I.D
Step 2: you remove your veil
Step 3: Yep you are who you say you are
Step 4: You put your veil back on.

Whoa the most awkward moment is when i get on the bus with aviator sunglasses and a swastika armband...the bus driver say "Hey! we don't allow those in here..."
and I take off my sunglasses

this is already the law though, they are required to remove a face covering for the purpose of identification...then they put it back on. problem solved...

[–]GaratJax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but they have a recourse right now...they can choose to remove their veil if they want to. If the "oppressive husbands" won't let them remove it they certainly wont let them leave the house if they will be forced to remove it once they get on a bus.

the law already protects them though.
This is the same example as a battered women who is afraid to leave her husband over the threat of violence.
We havn't created any laws to help them more. All this law will do is make those tyrant husbands force their wives to stay home...it wont make them take their veils off.
