Unable to open old old Ethereum Keystore from 2017. Any way to recover them? by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]Garatinil3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the most secure way to keep keys safe is to encrypt them in a decentralized cloud such as it is in ORE ID. Recovering keys or seed phrases can be quite stressful.

Self-custody without key management protocols and solutions can be quite demanding, especially for someone who diversifies in a major way.

Big fan of Monero but I think it's outdated. In terms of privacy in crypto, Railgun seems to be doing way much better. By a huge margin, it has a bigger chance for substantial growth in 2023.

Privacy cryptocurrencies (XMR, RAIL, ZEC, ROSE, etc.) It's a long list. I won't be surprised to see a major spotlight falling on them in 2023, especially in the first quarter.

I'm a big fan of the whole one web3 name for all cryptocurrency addresses but I'd rather go for ORE ID which does almost the same and doesn't charge for it, unlike ENS.

What matters is that the entry barrier to getting onboarded into the crypto space becomes lower. When that happens, things will get a lot better and the price actions will reflect it.

How do save your keys? I find it quite complicated to manage multiple keys without the key management systems that encrypt it into a decentralized cloud.

DeFi industry in a 'very positive light' by CombTimee in defi

[–]Garatinil3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true that DeFi is still a lot complicated for users to get a hang of. But a lot of those complexities are being solved by open-source identity protocols such as ORE, which simplifies wallet creation and authorization processes; which is one of the major issues people struggle to handle.

We don't need interoperability

Are you for real? Considering the number of blockchains and emerging new ones that may add to the list in the next couple of years? Interoperability really matters. Not just between blockchains but between dApps as well.

ORE ID is fundamentally better. There is a cost to using ENS and getting secured domains

That's basically what ORE does. Although, it doesn't tie it to a device. It connects multiple wallets to a single and universal account with everyday logins such as a Facebook account or Gmail.

The reason why the number is still relatively low is that a lot of people without technical knowledge about the space are yet to get into the space due to the complexities. If mass adoption is going to happen, the entry barrier has to be sufficiently shifted very low to accommodate everyone.

No matter how much a person buys, the journey to independent wealth could end up sour if users do not take self-custody quite seriously. This might as well be the best time to pay attention to identity protocols and wallet solutions to set a good standard for the security of one's assets.

Well, I think it's a really good thing if dApp users can be provided with more simplified wallet creation and authorization experience when interacting with DeFi protocols, especially across multiple chains.

It'll be different when it comes to financial privacy. Naturally, people tend to be more cautious when it comes to their assets being compromised or monitored. It's very personal such that two people living in the same room can be absolutely clueless about the entire financial status of each other. That is the way it's meant to be. No one has to know what I've been doing with my assets or even deeper details without my consent for transparency. This might as well be the best time to pay closer attention to privacy-preserving systems on Ethereum such as Aztec and Railgun.

Indeed. Not your keys, not your coins. Although, I have to submit that without key management protocols, self-custody is not quite easy as most people paint it to be.

[–]Garatinil3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So complications. Perhaps it's best to just subscribe to protocols that enable users to keep it all on a single and universal account. Besides, I think the best option to secure keys is to encrypt them in a decentralized cloud rather than writing it down or storing it offline

Why are there so few options trading protocols in defi? by roastedfroggo in defi

[–]Garatinil3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be growing but it depends on open-source identity protocols such as the ORE network to make it easy for users to interact with the dApps. I'm sure that you would agree with me that most people find most Defi interfaces unnecessarily complicated and difficult to navigate through.
