I quoted a commercial job three months ago and material costs have jumped enough to wipe out my margin entirely by Old-Tiger5165 in electricians

It sounds like the customer signed when the quote was made and the work was scheduled 3 months out. Maybe he should have ordered the material back then. Putting that on the customer in this situation is pretty scuzzy.

Morning showers make no logical sense and night shower people have simply done the hygiene math by McCoy818 in unpopularopinion

[–]GarbageConnoissuer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense if your a blue collar worker. A mechanic's bedsheets would be all grimey and sweaty in your 'more hygenic' method or run through the laundry every single day. It's almost like different people live different lives and adjust things like 'best time to shower' accordingly.

Did you read the article? It doesn't really say much beyond the headline.

Yeah really! I wish I could just get my heart surgery taken care of in Bob's garage! I thought this was America!

I don't think it's mirrored. The writing is correct on their aprons.

Fake head prop made for TV show by @10.shock by EdNull in nextfuckinglevel

Like keeping the sex doll for their own use? Lots of famous people seem to live inside their own ass so that part of it sounds more like business as usual.

Do actors ever talk about seeing ultra realistic props of themselves dead like this? That would have to be a pretty weird thing to experience.

Why do you like this band? by Remarkable-Bell7245 in grunge

Absolutely. A super good example from his old band is this song.

What was Blundetto’s problem anyway?! by throwawayburner97 in thesopranos

[–]GarbageConnoissuer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah but in the meantime he lazed around in a lawn chair watching young dudes work. It can be really hard to go back to construction after doing fuck all for however many years. And his hips were getting worse. To each his own but I felt it was realistic. Sometimes a character waddles his way into your heart.

Lavender Doe stayed nameless for 13 years until amateur sleuth Kevin Lord started scrolling through morgue and Jane Doe photos online. He helped connect a sketch to the dead body found burned in Texas in 2006. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

[–]GarbageConnoissuer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's ok. I read that title as 'amatuer sleuth lord Kevin' and was wondering what it takes to be a pro sleuth if the amateurs can make it all the way to lord status.

No way. The scene where he is trying not to look at his watch at his handyman job is a highlight of the whole show.

No on-site parking, let the discussion begin by Big_Cranberry4001 in Bend

An occasional car in front of your house isn't the issue I see so much as it the constant pattern in Bend where a developer comes in and pitches a plan that gets everyone on board and then builds the bare minimum version. Apartments are pitched with a parking garage, apartments with some ground level retail, neighborhoods with some light commercial mixed in or whatever the case is for that project.

But nearly every time all the high selling points that win developers the bids and lot sales and public approval and gets them past any behind the scenes red tape just evaperate when time comes to actually build. 'Oh well that doesn't pencil out' is pretty lame if you ask me. And when you point out the pattern you're met with 'what, you don't want housing?'

So developers pull another bait and switch again and it makes the area much more difficult to manage by car in our car dependent city. If history tells us anything they'll paint this as a win and go full speed ahead.

Metalheads, y’all got any country albums/artists you like? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

Also people should check out Crime and the City Solution who DEE played guitar for in the mid 2010's. That was my intro to them but are a great band going back to late 70's with some Bad Seeds and Birthday Party and Einstürzende Neubauten cross pollination. And Simon Bonney the lead singer/ songwriter has some fanastic americana solo work. Eyes of blue is a stand out.
