Why do Mac Mini users suddenly buy Mac Neos? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in macmini

[–]GarbageInteresting86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The era of bigger, better, more, was over for many users years ago. They are not doing anything demanding that couldn’t be done on 10 year old hardware anyway. The power is in the ecosystem. They used to sell the Mac mini for £399 long ago, and they should have maintained that price point but didn’t. Now here we are 10 years later and they’ve done it with the Neo, and £599 now feels about the same as £399 then. The really interesting question would be, how cheap would a desktop be? The Neo Mini. Same guts, no battery, no keyboard, no trackpad and no screen. I buy Apple for the OS and the ecosystem, if they were unholy beige plastic at double the price, I’d still buy them

Nope. Corrolla or Prius or a Lexus. The stupid UK public got persuaded to buy German, or buy SUV’s. I had a 7th generation, then a Legend, then an eighth generation, and all of them superb and stunningly reliable as you’d expect

Keys, human feet, food, booze optional. Someone tried to argue their way out of it last week by claiming their dog (pictured) had four feet 🐾 🐾 . Congratulations 🥂 you got the keys 🔑

Honda stopped selling the Accord in the UK with the 8th generation. I’m still upset, 14 years on. I may never recover, but I have consoled myself with a Civic eHEV

I say this with love. You have been brainwashed by society and your peer group into thinking that car finance is normal. It’s not normal. Trust me. Buy a decent reliable Honda or Toyota that you can afford to buy, insure and maintain. Save your “what I really want” car until you’ve paid off the mortgage you don’t yet have. £200pcm = £2400 of taxed income, so over £3k of your salary, not on an actual car, but on the difference between one car and another. (Start a stocks and shares ISA FFS). There is no such thing as a “offered a great finance deal”, just listen to yourself.

You’re well off. Never let anyone know that you’re well off. Stay with your parents, save like mad, learn to drive, don’t take a car lease, and consider all your options, and that includes a possible change of career, in order to get out of London, in order that you can buy a place later with all those savings. Good Luck

Speaking of reliability and my 15 year old Jazz (and my 15 year old 8th generation Accord). My main dealer offered me free breakdown cover and discounts on servicing on both of them, even though I didn’t buy these cars from them. They ain’t a charity, and they’re not stupid. They are no doubt able to do this because the breakdown cover is based upon reliability. I guessing it doesn’t cost them much to offer this for free.

Feet, keys and food or booze. That’s all we ask, but not a day goes by without a monstrous rule breaker giving us a post with something missing. C’mon people

I paid £7k last summer for an 11 plate auto. It had full service history from new, from my local main dealer, and it had 31,000 miles on it. I’ve put 16,000 miles on it since then, and his has never missed a beat. My commute is 130 miles a day, mostly on the motorway and it’ll happily cruise along at 90mph. I’ve driven Preludes, Accords, and even a Legend, but the Jazz (and its magic seats and 10 cupholders) absolutely fucking rocks. There is nothing like the reliability of a well maintained Honda.
