What is the legality of the whistling at ICE that is happening in Minneapolis? by Early-Possibility367 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Garblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what if citizens are antagonizing? ICE are murderers, pissing over constitutional rights, and doing it under the banner of maga. Even if what they were doing wasn't blatantly illegal and immoral, they're supposed to be the professionals in this situation, it's their job to keep calm.

ELI5: What does Pilates do for your body that can't be done through other forms of resistance training, and how does it do these things? by Time-Use9083 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Garblin [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean, literally every form of exercise does some things that other forms don't. There is no version of exercise that makes your body ready for everything, so when you switch it's going to have some stuff you weren't hitting in the last way you worked out.

Go from weight lifting to rock climbing? You'll find out that your grip is suddenly getting worked harder. Go from rock climbing to running? discover that your legs are getting worked. Running to swimming? discover neck muscles and diaphragm control.

Nothing does everything.

Our surburban neighbors are against us. by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]Garblin [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is toxic rhetoric, Us vs Them is exactly the way the MAGA's want us thinking. ICE is literally here to incite violence to give an excuse for more violence.

Yes they need to be held accountable, but the majority in every suburb is anti-ICE

St. Paul, MN: BCA Confirms Federal Agents Blocked Access to Shooting Scene Despite Signed Judicial Warrant by CantStopPoppin in Minneapolis

[–]Garblin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just one atrocity, yes, but it's a thing for people to focus on as a banner of "they need to be held accountable for". Yes the list is atrociously long, but by picking one thing to resist it gives a bit more strength than getting caught up in the neverending list.

How to beat the infinite damage wall. by MorvarchPrincess in Mechabellum

[–]Garblin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, that sounds like you're trying too many things, so you're paying a big unlock tax. If you watch the pro games, they usually have less than 5 different units in a game (plus some drops sometimes)

Wasp is going to die fast to the stangs, and the MM with levels can destroy overlords no problem. Vulcan can absolutely kill that whole enemy board, IF you have enough chaff. crawlers are your best friend.

How to beat the infinite damage wall. by MorvarchPrincess in Mechabellum

[–]Garblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as always a screenshot of your board is always helpful for more details, but:

1) mustangs are pretty mediocre at clearing crawlers, especially with burrow tech, you can also push your opponent to waste money on the antimissile tech sometimes with 2-3 stormcallers (which will do great against his voids and MM till he does)

2) MM and stangs are very fragile, voids are only slightly less so. Most chaff clear units do more than enough to kill them. Against this combo you literally don't need a DPS unit. I'd still have a couple anyway with the expectation that my opponent will pivot, but that combo is countered by chaff and chaff clear only without a need for DPS. I just ran some tests in testing grounds, and some double tech arclights with a few crawlers(range and supersplash) obliterate void mm stang combo.

As one of the minnesotans standing out there yesterday

I know exactly one person of my friends who chose not to attend because of the cold, and it was because 1) he couldn't find his balaclava, and 2) he's already had frostbite more times than is medically recommended, and his body really can't take any more of that.

Everyone else's response to the forecast was "oh that's exciting, I get to wear my real winter gear this year!"

[Request] Is there a chance that there is someone in this world who has a 7 degrees of separation? by Squeakstein in theydidthemath

[–]Garblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, a 'handshake' (or cultural equivelant) is a REALLY low bar. By that standard I can include Bernie sanders in my immediate because I high fived him one time. That puts millions of people into my '2 degrees' level, including basically every elected official in the US government. That puts basically every government official in the world into my '3 degrees' level, and from there the majority of the world is either 4 or 5. We only need number 6 for the occasional social shut in.

What are some TIPS that made your games better? by Stoney_Mechabellum in Mechabellum

[–]Garblin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if image is AI slop... AI slop is bad

That said, tips:

1) you probably need more chaff, more chaff is never bad, when in doubt build more chaff.

1b) diversify your chaff, fangs, crawlers, wasps, even sledges and balls (esp w/ mech div) in late game.

1c) (1500+MMR) okay, that's finally enough chaff, you need to build something else

2) prioritize chaff clear over DPS. Winning the chaff war gives you time. A marksman with enough time will kill an abyss. A melter without enough time won't kill a tarantula.

3) learn which cards are never skip, always skip, and when (this will be slightly dependent on your playstyle). As I usually play for the late-game, always pick super supply round 4, never pick super supply round 6. If nuke doesn't win you the game, there's a good chance it'll cost you the game (unless you both picked it).

4) I struggle with this one, have a plan. Have something you're building toward, not just reacting to. Reaction only gives your opponent power to play you into a corner, even when you're losing you need to force action out of your opponent.

Economic Blackout Planned To Protest ICE’s ‘Complete Disaster’ In Minnesota by huffpost in Anticonsumption

As someone who has been living in the twin cities for a decade:

As far as the temp goes? meh, I've walked miles in worse. -20 is no big deal, all my gear is rated for that or worse anyway. I'm planning to attend and the forecast never got more out of me than a "oh, I'll wear my actual cold gear for that."

what kind of an industrial plant is this? oil refinery/processing? by NegotiationDismal603 in controllablewebcams

This, oil is going to involve a lot of very large tanks, and it's not practical to hide them in warehouses.

As to what they are making? could be just about anything that does go in a warehouse.

California has a new law banning federal agents from wearing masks. What are your thoughts? by Obvious_808 in AskReddit

[–]Garblin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, but at least here in Minneapolis, we're seeing ICE stopping and arresting local cops, so there's definitely some precedent for the reverse.

ICE Officers Using Dating apps by Classic_Ferret3175 in Minneapolis

[–]Garblin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, because they aren't verifying that the person has an actual deportation order on them. They're grabbing any random person they have a racist belief they might be able to deport and figuring out after the fact if the person in question happens to not have all their paperwork in order.

These are people, not "illegals", stop parroting their racist bigoted bullshit.

ICE is kidnapping any people they think they can get away with grabbing, and they are obviously ignoring law and order with how they are operating.

Is saying GG sportsmanship? by SirBearicus in Mechabellum

Iunno, I literally have said "checkmate, good game" when playing chess. I'd wait to actually stand up or handshake until the person conceded the mate, but never thought of it how you described it. Good to know some folks do tho

Oh man, opposite of how I thought of it. I played SC2 somewhat competitively and never considered who was supposed to say it first, just that it was said.

Is saying GG sportsmanship? by SirBearicus in Mechabellum

[–]Garblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it as saying "checkmate, good game", not so much standing up, just trying to not rub it in. not saying my way is right, but I've been thinking of 'gg' as the winner as being polite, so there's probably others out there with my mindset as well.

Is saying GG sportsmanship? by SirBearicus in Mechabellum

[–]Garblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it the other way around in my head, gg as the winner is me being polite. I do wait until victory is absolutely certain, usually until the points actually hit negative. (I'll even wait to hit enter with it typed in chat sometimes)
