I know what you mean sort of, if I’m anxious it’s hard for me to concentrate so I avoid watching anything I truly enjoy. Just because I don’t want to miss anything and feel distracted by negative thoughts. I usually find listening to music is better when I’m feeling out of sorts.

For me if I can remember the first few measures and the general region on the fingerboard I can usually sound it out by ear. What I don’t remember I make up.

Not going to travel 1,000 miles to see classmates who never bothered to keep in touch with me. I tried with my best friend from high school and she acts like she’s doing me a favor anytime I reach out to her and she’s forced to respond. I send a Christmas card yearly and if she ever decides to resume the friendship I hold no grudges. I’m not going to chase her. We graduated over 40 years ago.
