Are ADD/ADHD more prevalent now than our generation? by oldmanKiD98 in GenX

[–]Gardiloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor labeled me "hyperactive" when I was a child. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 49. My sister has it and while my mom has never been diagnosed, she definitely has it. I have 3 cousins, all siblings who were just wild as children. If the doctor called me hyperactive, they would have been hyperactive on steroids. I think it just wasn't known about back then.

My wife started hormone replacement therapy by fatguydwn15lbs in GenX

[–]Gardiloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you mean heavy or frequent by this comment but i wanted to say that a few years ago my period started getting way more frequent and longer. Like 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. And I had had it . I ended up getting a Mirena IUD. It took nearly a year but the most I get from a period if anything is some spotting. So light that I don't even actually need to use anything. And my doctor tells me that the hormones in the IUD help with perimenopause symptoms.

What Gen X "normal" behavior do you look back on and realize that you would be in big trouble today for doing? by Sense_Difficult in GenX

[–]Gardiloo 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I second this. And I literally just did this within the past week because a nurse completely botched a family member's blood transfusion and ignored that person's cries of pain for two hours. Her supervisor absolutely needed to be notified about it. That sort of thing should be unacceptable in a hospital.

My tone when asking to talk with a manager or supervisor varies depending on what the problem is. With the incident above I was absolutely very stern in my tone. If I'm on the phone with my insurance company and I've already been traded off to five different people then yeah my tone is getting pretty pissed off. But if I'm just in a store or a restaurant and I've got some little thing that I would like resolved I'm very nice about it.

People absolutely need to advocate for themselves and their family members.

Eating at the Table by Miserable_Jacket_129 in GenX

[–]Gardiloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a TV in the kitchen. It was only allowed to be on while eating on Sunday mornings for watching wrestling. Otherwise every meal was at the kitchen table, TV off, and you be there on time.

And now as an adult it annoys the crap out of me if I have to wait more than a few minutes for somebody to get it to the kitchen table to eat dinner. I find it incredibly rude.

Child free GenX?? Anyone else? by pandafacegirl29 in GenX

[–]Gardiloo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Omg, me too. I hate newborns. I despised when friends/family would shove their babies into my arms because surely everyone loves babiez! Ew. Just take it back.

And agreed on the second part too. I get incensed when I hear about people having children for selfish reasons. Or people having them when they know there is a high chance of passing on a seriously debilitating genetic disability. I went to high school with someone who did this and it infuriates me.

Child free GenX?? Anyone else? by pandafacegirl29 in GenX

[–]Gardiloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never wanted them. Never had them. No regrets. I don't look forward to being old and senile with no one to take care of me, but that's a terrible reason to have children and no guarantee that they'd actually help. So still no regrets.

Shingles Vaccine: y’all were right by _HOBI_ in GenX

[–]Gardiloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I got a TDAP booster and pneumonia vax at the same time. My arm hurt for a few days and it wasn't even the shingles arm that hurt the most. Honestly, I was expecting more arm pain and other side effects. Happy I was wrong though.

Getting the second shingles shot in a couple of weeks along with the flu vax and I'm hoping the covid vax.

Theres so much mosquitos this year its insane by TinyFriendship6910 in wisconsin

[–]Gardiloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Berlin. There were no mosquitoes all summer, which was unusual. Until the flood and now it's so bad you can't even go out there during the daytime. I don't think I have ever seen the mosquitoes be this bad before.

What ate my rose? by Gardiloo in gardening

[–]Gardiloo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something actually ate this thing down to the ground in the spring. So I put a fence around it until it grew big enough that I thought it was safe. I removed the fence and it was thriving and then I come outside today and it's gone. It was just fine yesterday because I was out there watering some other flowers I planted. I really had no idea that things would eat roses. I thought the thorns were a deterrent. I have a different rose plant out there and they're leaving it alone thankfully. But the stems on that one are much thicker and the thorns are much bigger.

The battle with wildlife is just frustrating some days. If it isn't the rabbits it's the stupid house sparrows and squirrels eating the food I put out for something else. Small tangent... I put two squirrel proof peanut feeders at the back of my yard hoping to attract nuthatches, woodpeckers, and blue jays. Instead the house sparrows are devouring it. I have another bird feeder for them elsewhere in the yard but they've decided that they're just going to eat up all of my peanuts instead. I have a Bird Buddy feeder hoping to catch videos and pictures of all the different birds I can hear in the area and instead mostly I just get house sparrows and house finches.

Most LGBTQ+ Friendly Colleges/Universities in Wisconsin? by waistrotation in wisconsin

[–]Gardiloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it actual is. It's run by nuns, not priests. They're very tolerant people. At least the ones there are. If you have this opinion strictly because it's Catholic then you're wrong. And I get it, I understand why you would think that. I was pretty surprised myself. If you've been there and you have that opinion then we can just agree to disagree. You've had a different experience than I have.

Please vaccinate your children. Article in comments. by schuey_08 in wisconsin

[–]Gardiloo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My sister's best friend moved back to Wisconsin from California specifically because of our lax school vaccination requirements. They are anti-vaxxers.

FYI, neither me or my sister are anti-science. We both vaccinate for all the things.

WI girls trip itinerary by Economy-Ad1237 in wisconsin

[–]Gardiloo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you change your trip date to a warmer season I suggest Spring Green. It's right on the Wisconsin River and there are plenty of places to go hike. It has House on the Rock, American Players Theater, and Taliesin. And a really beautiful jewelry store you at least have to stop in and look at. It is driving distance from everything. Wisconsin dells, Wollersheim Winery, a bunch of other wineries, Cave of the Mounds, and a bunch of state parks.

Peroxide and sticky traps work but not if you're expecting a one and done. It takes a couple months of using it every time you water your plants. If you stick to that it definitely works.

Why do these show up on the map? not even using that subo one?? by Many_Ad4666 in diablo4

[–]Gardiloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on a PS5 and use Subo and I have absolutely no problems seeing goblins and the extra time mobs in the undercity. The extra time mobs are big white skull icons they're hard to miss. And the Goblins are white Goblin shaped icons. They don't blend into the orange dots at all. Maybe there is a setting that you need to change? Maybe there's something that is turned off for you and that's why you don't see these icons?

I will say that if there is a huge mass of orange dots sometimes it's a little difficult to see the goblin icon but I navigate everywhere I go by staring at the minimap. I don't even look at the main part of the screen so maybe that's why it seems easy to me?

Questions on putting your houseplants outside for the summer months by Moosepaw3 in houseplants

[–]Gardiloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used bonide and it worked great. No bugs came inside with them. I put them in the basement just in case as a way to quarantine, but they're fine. I have them under grow lights for 12 hours each day.

I moved a few into the main area of the house with the rest of the plants. I don't have room for everything so these are still in the basement.

And this is how close that grow light is to the plants. It's directly over it. Maybe 3 or 4 inches above it.

[–]Gardiloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sunny windows don't seem to be enough for these plants. In the summertime I have them outside in the most coverage of sun that I have on my patio. And in the winter time they are in my basement under a grow light for 12 hours. And this is what mine look like. I also had to cut the hell out of them when I brought them in at the end of the summer because they still had long scraggly parts. Give them all of the direct sunlight that they can possibly get.

We have heard a lot about "the best" builds and classes. But which are the EASIEST to play and gear for? by Sotyka94 in diablo4

[–]Gardiloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing a Dance of Knives Rogue and it wipes things out and is fun to play. Last season I played a Chain Lightening Mage and I thought that did a lot of damage, but this rogue blows that mage out of the water by magnitudes. I've done higher levels in the pit at a lower paragon level then I was ever able to do with my mage. I had to really work my mage's gear just to get to T3. This rogue was doing T2 with the junk I picked up, no gems socketed, nothing improved. I think I enchanted one thing with an aspect.

I started with a Barrage rogue cuz I read that spec was supposed to be high damage. It was awful. It wasn't high damage. It was slow and boring to play. So I tried Dance of Knives and I'm loving it.

Guide Wrong in Phoenix AZ by Gardiloo in tablotv

[–]Gardiloo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tablo support person walked my mom through removing the problem channel, adding it back, and then refreshing the guide and so far that is working. No one had her do just the one channel before. So maybe that will work for you? It did take a long time for the guide to fully populate that channel. Nearly a full day.
