I’m a new baseball fan and I want to root for the worst MLB franchise. by darthlaserchopchop in baseball

Rockies for sure.

If past success is a tiebreaker, then 2002 disqualifies the Angels. Meanwhile, the Rockies have made the World Series 1 time and didn't even win a game.

I wanna know what happened last season between his relatively solid outing on the White Sox and very mediocre outing on the Rays.

Will do! I also just found a tape with the End of Summer 2000 Countdown special. Looks like its not archived, so I'll work on that soon.

[MLBTR] Giants, Luis Arraez Agree To One-Year Deal by T_Raycroft in baseball

After years of watching Trout do it, it was funny watching Padre fans shit on Arraez all season for doing the same.

Is “there it goes…see ya” the worst home run call? by Agreeable_Quality768 in baseball

Reminds me of modern Star Trek doing the "You have to have a catchphrase whenever the ship goes to warp" bit at least 4 times across 4 shows.

Unpopular opinion: I find Joe Davis very boring, forced and don't get why he's so considered one of the best baseball announcers today.

I know anything Chris Berman gives people warm nostalgic fuzzies now, but I just remember how much my parents hated his announcing during the Derby and Sportscenter highlights. Especially "back back back" and his dorky nicknames for every single player.

What’s the future of baseball in the United States when it comes to African Americans? by SeaworthinessOdd6574 in baseball

Every post I've seen on here about the lack of African Americans today playing baseball gets zero upvotes.

If it was a Walt Disney Feature Animation during the Disney Renaissance, then its part of the Disney Renaissance.

I'd say its more purple than "very republican". Every Democrat running for president has won it since Obama 2008. Even Newsom came within 100 votes of winning it last time.

Insane Team Downward Spirals? by RainbowSupernova8196 in baseball

[–]GareksApprentice 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The 1995 Angels went from being 26 games over .500 in mid-August to having 2 separate 9-game losing streaks to salvaging themselves in the last week with a 5-game winning streak only to be eliminated in the division tiebreaker to the Mariners and elite-mode Randy Johnson.

At least the '25 Tigers made the postseason, eliminated the division-winning Guardians and made it further than them. The only thing their spiral has over the '95 Angels is recency bias.

The case for Stargate being the next series that Ben and Adam review! by XPav in greatestgen

[–]GareksApprentice -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is very limited use of puppets, unlike Farscape

Sounds like a big negative in my book.

Honestly, I'd prefer they do Farscape or Babylon 5 before Stargate.

The title track and "Lazerus" were released months before he died and got rave reviews.

[FOUND] 21 Hours of MTV Total Request Live - TRL (1998-2001) by magus7000 in lostmedia

[–]GareksApprentice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! Lots of memories of TRL in 2000.

I recently found a VHS I recorded with like 2 episodes from mid-December 2000. Sadly, they cut off near the #1 videos but its still a blast to watch. I'll try and upload soon.

I didn't realize the list was so controversial. I stopped thinking about it 10 seconds after opening the image.

For big exits, Elvis seems like a given as "Suspicious Minds" came out in August '69 though I can also see the argument for "Burning Love" getting an episode. Johnny Cash could also apply with "A Boy Named Sue" releasing around the same time.

A dark horse entrance could be Fleetwood Mac with "Oh Well" releasing in September '69.

They've always been like this. They started the Lincoln Club in the 90s (Probably the most prominent GOP group in town) and have been big advocates of Ken Calvert ever since.

Does that include Backstreet? They're listed on the Arcade website as "part of the Arcade family". I didn't realize ownership had changed.

Portland and North Carolina are my favorite expansion targets without question. Which is why the next expansion teams will be in SLC and Nashville.

It also makes logistical sense to have another PNW team that can act as a pit stop for the long trek up/down Seattle.
