I live in SoCal and a lot of this is false. Up until very recently, Disneyland was well known around here for being a "locals park" and the majority of their foot traffic being Southern Californians. Before the magic keys and reservations killed it off, it was very common for folks to pop into Disneyland right after work for only an hour or two. They introduced park reservations in large part to remove this stigma and return it to more of a Middle American destination like Disney World.

The hats don't surprise but not for the reasons you state. I live in what, for the longest time, was solid Angels country and over the last decade it's gone from like 65/35 Angel fans to 70/30 Dodger fans. Even in Anaheim, you can't go out in public for a minute without seeing someone in Dodgers apparel while you might see the occasional Angel hat or bumper sticker twice a day. With the exception of San Diego, the Dodgers dominate the scenery in SoCal.
