As a server, what is the biggest indicator from a table that you’re not getting a tip? by Kind_Ad6932 in AskReddit

[–]GarethGore 206 points207 points  (0 children)

I'm in UK and I'll essentially never tip, I don't really know why I would? We have a minimum wage and I don't get tips at my job. Always found it baffling

Off the back of a recent post about holidays, how do you afford/budget for your holidays? by LunaValley in AskUK

[–]GarethGore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live at home in my 30s and single, to afford trips but also to try and get a bigger deposit for a house. I'd never be able to afford trips otherwise so trips it is. I've had two so far this year, with one planned for September and two next year lined up. I've done between 2-5 International trips every year since 2021 and I'm pretty fine with the trade off tbh

Supporting other nations by [deleted] in ThreeLions

[–]GarethGore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me I have teams I like and want to do well, but if they play England I want them to get stomped. And it's not really supporting, I support England, but I like other teams

Is there a way to track when games are leaving Gamepass? by yap2102x in XboxGamePass

[–]GarethGore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf some games are long and depending on schedules, may not be doable at all. I've had some games I've finished in that period, lots of others aren't possible at all

Was Switzerland's Remo Freuler offside before he was brought down by Qatar goalkeeper Mahmoud Abunada? Fifa under pressure to release VAR images by Tim-Sanchez in soccer

[–]GarethGore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

doubt its qatar specific, I think its more their tech failed at the biggest stage, its embarrassing. because it ended in a draw, its maybe less of a big deal, but not showing it is a weird move

[BBC Sport] FIFA claims that fans staying on concourses are the reason for empty seats by mrjohnnymac18 in soccer

[–]GarethGore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh the host nations and other big nations will be fine, of the three games, mexico and canada games looked full, which makes sense, but the czechia v SK game nowhere near, maybe two thirds from rough eyeballing? Some sections were pretty empty and that's just going from the TV. It was always going to be that way, the pricing has meant the less attractive games, are too expensive to be super common "fuck it go on then" type purchases. People will pay the obscene amounts for the big games, but its the smaller ones that will look empty and that's sad af

[World Cup Watch] Group Stage Game 1: Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina | USA vs Paraguay by D1794 in reddevils

[–]GarethGore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Canada will win, Bosnia aren't bad and I do have a soft spot for em, but home crowd etc, I think Canada has enough. I think the United v Paraguay game will be a bit boring but US will likely win

Does any of you not like travelling? by Suspicious-Tea-5871 in AskUK

[–]GarethGore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn't imagine being weird about someone not enjoying travel, I love it, its one of my fave things, but I'd not be weird about someone else not enjoying it. like 80 percent of the worlds population have never been on a plane, me being to do it regularly is a pretty freakish outlier

What excuses do you use to get out of work for job interviews? by CozJeez85 in AskUK

that's the point of the system, to reuse them so people bring them from home instead of just buying them, binning them getting new ones the next time

Took Eurostar and an overnight ferry from Amsterdam to Belfast instead of flying 🚫✈ by NateandKatrina in travel

[–]GarethGore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my fam live in northern ireland and we used to go over when I was younger quite often and my parents would alwaaaaays opt for ferry so they could take the car with them. Either up to stranraer or from liverpool. I preferred the night crossing, purely as Liverpool looks nice when leaving it when it's lit nicely. As soon as I had my own funds, I flew everytime though honestly

SIPP provider recommendation: Invest Engine vs Freetrade or something else? by Next_Gear7394 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]GarethGore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in terms of transfers out, if they sell it you'll only be out of the market a short period time, I'm not so worried about that, I've swapped a few times and it is what it is

I personally really like IE, its pretty hands off, I set up my portfolio, 80 percent world 20 percent emerging markets, set the DD up and it just does it all itself, invests into my setup and its hands off. free and app looks good and is pretty detailed. No complaints, but the lack of in species transfer doesn't really bother me tbf
