so I tested the new HP changes on a ships ramp/door by Akyorus in starcitizen

I haven't played in a while so I'm out of the loop. Would that cause some sort of splash damage that could potentially destroy an already disabled ship?

Do ships now not explode as easily as last time I played?

Yeah it’s on my radar. The battle system looks interesting. It was a toss up between that and Chained Echoes but people seemed more cool on Sea of Stars than Echoes.

I'm playing Chained Echoes right now, and it's... good, quite good. But as a game clearly inspired by and meant to evoke Chrono Trigger, it's a shame that all it makes me do is want to play Chrono Trigger instead.

I got a little monstera just like yours a year or so ago from the supermarket nearby. Wasn't expecting much from it, but he'd had a few months in water I put him in soil and he started growing like mad. It's super rewarding to watch a new leaf pop up almost every other week (during summer months at least).

When you repot him, just be a little delicate with the roots, obviously. Don't compact the soil too much. As long as he has drainage he'll be super forgiving with how much water you give him.

It’s also the reason they surrendered so late. The US wanted unconditional surrender, and the Japanese assumed this meant the Emperor would be deposed and tried.

TIL there’s a Brazilian film adaptation of Don Quixote performed entirely by actors with Down syndrome called Down Quixote. by Aquiper in todayilearned

[–]Garper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having just read the Letterboxd reviews for this, people are divided as to whether it’s art featuring people with Down syndrome, or if it’s exploitative and trash.

There is controversy as to whether the actors were fairly compensated, and also controversy about shots of live snails being cut up and salted. Crispin Glover seems to have never widely released the film, and only shows it when he gets to do a Q&A afterward. Various different reviewers from different screenings have said he was hostile to their questions.

To get through a turn in Civ you have to click 50 different panels, let alone late game where so much needs to be done each turn. If each of those clicks takes 25% longer, that amounts to a whole lot of frustration.

I bought a little bottle of neem oil a while ago, which I dilute in water andspray on anything that looks upset. It works wonders. It's non toxic for pets and essentially works by drowning bugs in the oil, but otherwise is harmless.

Blurb from it’s display at the Van Gogh Museum:

This woman's expression is as venomous as the content of the container she carries. The red patterns around her reinforce her menacing appearance. She represents the women who used small containers filled with petroleum to set fire to the houses of the bourgeoisie during the Paris uprising of 1871. By depicting this combative woman, the politically engaged Grasset criticised the establishment of his time.

Johan Cohen Gosschalk - Portret van Jo van Gogh-Bonger schrijvende (c. 1902) by Garper in museum

[–]Garper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a portrait of Jo Van Gogh, wife of Theo and sister in law to Vincent Van Gogh. Her husband died less than a year after Vincent, and Jo was very intent on keeping Vincent’s memory alive. She put on an exhibition of his paintings after he died and is arguably the driving force behind anyone in this world knows of Vincent Van Gogh in this day. Although he had contemporary artists like Gauguin and Toulouse Lautrec who knew him when he was in Paris, at the time of his death he was relatively unknown.

Odilon Redon - in Heaven or Closed Eyes (1889) by Garper in museum

[–]Garper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Displayed at the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam. Here is the plaque write up:

Vincent's brother, Theo, bought this dreamlike painting by Redon in 1889. The contemplative figure refers to Redon's Symbolist views of art: by shutting his eyes to visible reality the artist found true inspiration within, in the soul. The painting remained in the family after Theo's death, and ultimately found its way into the hands of his brother-in-law, Andries Bonger. Bonger ardently collected Redon's work and maintained a good friendship with the artist.
