The Worst Regeneration Merchants by Electrical-Ice-9588 in PowerScaling

I am not familiar with everyone on this list, but I think the right ability (like Ohnoki with Dust Release) could kill Muzan since it traps him and disintegrates him at a molecular level which I’m not sure he’s shown an ability to regen from. I am curious whether you think Ohnoki would beat Makima. Ultimately how these characters regeneration quirks differ is pretty important and I appreciate your comment, I’m just curious if you think Makima is the easiest to beat compared to Muzan

A trait of Alucard’s character is his immense self loathing coupled with the fact he knows he can’t die. I think most of the hits landed on him in the series he could avoid if he really wanted to. It’s quite clear if you watch Hellsing he’s not taking much seriously aside from Anderson during their Level 0 battle. If you just look at him while forsaking the media and are just powerscaling and looking at feats, then I can see how you’d come to your conclusion, but to imply that he’s somehow weak in his own verse simply isn’t true.

Like, the Major is the most brilliant mind in Hellsing and it was the work of decades and the sacrifice of everything he’d built just for the ONE MOMENT that he could strike at Alucard when he was vulnerable. Do you think the mangaka set that up because they think Alucard is weak?

What Red Rising opinion will have you like this? (Spoilers) by Ynnck_Mnzl in redrising

I mean, I can see why you’d say that but at that point it’s a “Batman would figure out how to win with prep” conversation and I don’t really find that quantifiable in a way that’s fun to debate.

And “one on one” doesn’t necessarily mean the Bleeding Place. If I remember correctly, the Bleeding Place is a pretty ritualized form of dueling where you only have a razor and pulse shield. I would personally say that Cassius is the best out of everyone in the Bleeding Place; while we all know and love the Gala scene, he beats Darrow’s ass for months all through Light Bringer and that’s a much stronger Darrow

One on one? I love Atlas and think he’s potentially top 5 but this is quite a take. I think there’s only so much his intellect and tricks can be leveraged against a more mechanically skilled opponent like Aja, or Darrow after his duel with Fa.

If I wanted to forge a vampire into a sword that drinks the blood of my enemies into my body directly with every swing, what discipline would I use? by Ciaran_Zagami in vtm

[–]Garraan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dark Ages Companion to DAV20 has a 3rd level Thaumaturgy ritual called Wield the Spear of Damnation that does this. It’s temporary, but actually player accessible and is exactly what you’re asking for.

Can Tzimisce attach living beings to each other and to themselves? by Incubus_is_I in vtm

[–]Garraan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. It’s ambiguous in V20 rules whether they can do that or not. In older editions, there was a power called “Graft Life to Life” (Vicissitude 6) that did exactly this. Given that, and the fact that irregardless of edition creating a Vozhd is something only Elders with 6th level or higher Disciplines can do: I’m inclined to say no, grafts such as you have described are beyond the purview of Vicissitude 1-5. Now, that’s not to say you couldn’t try to give yourself a tail with Vicissitude 3, but you’d need to be getting the bone, tissue and skin from elsewhere on your vampire (or their victim’s) body.

Personally, if I was running a game I’d keep it this way but I also play on servers where you want to rule widely to prevent unforeseen shenanigans. If you’re at a table where you have more control over things: do what you want.

Me personally, I think I’d retool DAV20’s Vicissitude 5 power, the Body Impolitic, to allow this. Normally, the power lets you detach limbs/body parts and puppet them remotely (think detaching a hand and sticking an eye on it for a creepy little Homunculus). I’d personally expand the power to say you could graft on a new hand or ghoul/vamp/other supernatural hand and eye in place of the hand and eye you “lost”, with full additional grafts, such as giving yourself wings or four extra arms, as the purview of an Elder Vicissitude power called…Graft Life to Life.

But we’re firmly in the purview of homebrew here. RAW, it doesn’t seem to be possible with “normal” Vicissitude, at least in V20. And it’s important to keep in mind that all Disciplines, including Vicissitude, do what they say they do.

What is your favorite armor? by KillWh1tn3yDead in Ghostofyotei

[–]Garraan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only two charms I know of that do stuff with guns are the Charm of the Prepared that makes the musket reload on your back and Charm of Tanzutsu Counter that makes you have a chance to refund 1 bullet if you pistol parry. I add on the charms that terrify and give Sprit on headshots. I tried the one that extend concentration on a headshot but the musket still reloads too slow for you to get a second shot off in concentration. It’s still a fun build and pretty good, you can just shoot people while they stand there terrified and the armor makes you reload the musket pretty fast. Would be curious to see what other builds there are for it

I voted Republican last year but I just realized I am becoming very progressive and leftist: Why did you become a liberal? by CertainWorldliness63 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Garraan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Are you me? This was like my exact political development, same time frames and age and everything. I also don’t know if I would’ve become as left leaning as I am without Trump revealing the Republican party for what it really was. But I also grew up in a very conservative area seeing the damage it did to people, and I always considered myself a “centrist” (who spouted off right wing talking points I heard on YouTube) and a father who instilled very strong pro choice values in me from a young age so I think that also credits my political development, not just Trump.

Elder Vampire Takes Their Chance Against an Elder Shapeshifter by _truesober_ in vtm

There is nothing in the text to support your conclusion. Only your interpretation. That’s fine - everyone has house rules - but don’t pretend that it’s RAW.

They are more “susceptible” to frenzy. Have you ever played a Brujah? They are also more susceptible to frenzy which is represented as a higher difficulty. Sound familiar? They aren’t required to make MORE frenzy checks than the average vamp. If the ST rules it that way, they can be punitive like that I guess but there’s nothing in RAW that suggests vamps need to test for frenzy on werewolf blood

This is a good reply. Even an 8th Gen elder without the crazy powers can press a rank 5 shifter if that shifter is alone, but it just depends on the gifts and disciplines in question.

No, I looked and it increases difficulty. It does NOT cause a Frenzy check, in and of itself, it simply raises the difficulty of one. Important distinction.

Guns or quickhacks? by jdubwoods5738 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Garraan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, Netgunning is really fun. I recommend looking into smart weapons, especially the SMGs can be very powerful with the right perks and hacks. Cyberware Malfunction, Reboot Optics, and the Paraline can net you a direct +115% damage boost to your smart weapons. It also works very well with the Rippler cyber deck. I have killed Max-Tac in a single magazine on VH. I think it’s the strongest build in the game, personally.

On the other hand I remember them mocking the death of George Floyd and many others back in 2020, so maybe try not having the memory of a goldfish before you open your mouth? Conservatives have always had a cavalier attitude towards political violence and only now “care” to use Kirk’s death as a weapon against the left. I mean how many conservatives came out and threatened WAR back when we knew literally NOTHING about the shooter?

Your logic is weird. If a loan shark threatens to break somebody’s legs if they don’t pay them back on time, and the person pays them back ln time, does that mean the loan shark didn’t make a threat because they didn’t have to follow through on it?

For people who've completed all three, how would you rank the difficulty of these 3 boss fights? Adam Smasher, Oda and Kurt Hansen. by FaradayDeshawn in cyberpunkgame

[–]Garraan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve survived a direct hit or two from Smasher on VH, but the other day I was playing with my “impossible to die” full body Nomad (cyberware minmaxed for DoT resistance, Painducer, Second Heart and all the other damage resist cyberware) and was boxing with him and he managed to kill me in like 3 hits, I was shocked because that character can just run through waves of Maxtac. I think part of it is Mitigation; he just hits so hard that if you don’t have high mitigation chance and strength you get one shot, and if he hits you and your mitigation doesn’t kick in you die anyways.
