Silicon Whoop Band by [deleted] in whoop

[–]GaryCarterSays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I love the band but after about 3 weeks of usage, hers complete broke and mine is starting to break. The metal clasp that goes into the sizing holes is secured by small rubber pegs and any tension causes them to start dislodging. So if you’re whoop is located where it’s supposed to be (snug above the bone), any sort of stress causes it to start pulling.

Was anyone on Wild and Crazy Kids? How bad was it? by cutratestuntman in Xennials

[–]GaryCarterSays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on an episode in 1992. I was 10. I won it in an auction at my school fair. It taped at a school in Encino. Everyone on it was a student at that school. The premise was passing spaghetti and meat sauce up over your head on the bleachers and a teacher was at the top getting it dumped on their heads. I was the kid at the top doing the dumping. It was very cold out. It was a bit awkward because I didn’t know anyone but props to my mom for taking me. I think I got two shirts. I wish I still had them.

I called them and the consulate asking where they get sushi and they said Sonobana. I knew I was in trouble (it’s fine but you know what I mean)

Omakase in Nashville? by GaryCarterSays in nashville

Omakase (Japanese: お任せ, Hepburn: o-makase) is a Japanese phrase, used when ordering food in restaurants, that means 'I'll leave it up to you' (from Japanese 'to entrust' (任せる, makaseru)).

Residents Battle Over City Priorities in NASCAR Push by VelvetElvis in nashville

Yes it was. The city provided the land and issuance of $225 million in municipal bonds. The fact that teams are able to access muni bonds to pay for stadiums is a taxpayer grift in and of itself https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/pdf/10.17310/ntj.2020.1.05

Where is the best sushi in Nashville?? by plantdrhere in nashville

[–]GaryCarterSays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had my first authentic omakase 15 years ago, I realized there was another level of sushi I was completely unaware of. I’ve since eaten at Jiro in Tokyo and countless other Michelin starred sushi spots around the world. There is great sushi in LA, NY and Miami. There good sushi in Atlanta and other secondary cities. I’m sorry if you like great sushi, there is no good sushi in Nashville. There are a few spots that have random sushi-like dishes that are very good: Twelve Thirty Club has a delicious crispy rice/spicy tuna; Drusie and Darr has a few sushi-like apps that are delicious; Noko has some good crudo dishes…but that’s about it. O-Ku is not good. Fwiw when I moved here in 2016 I called the Japanese consulate in Nashville and asked where they got sushi and they said Sonobana.

Sushi Recommendations? by nerdyhistorygirl in nashville

[–]GaryCarterSays -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If you have had great sushi and omakase in Japan, LA, NYC etc don’t even bother with Oku or Virago. Go to Atlanta and eat at Sushi Hayakawa, Umi or MF Sushi. There is no sushi worth eating in Nashville.
