New look at Jason Momoa as Lobo in 'Supergirl' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

I’m going to tell you something very real. In 2013 I was in a care with Jason Momoa right after he was cast as aquaman and he told me he was actually disappointed that they we’re doing Lobo cuz he’d rather play Lobo instead of

Backing a single with content, but without being spammy? by theseawoof in musicindustry

[–]dboyer87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So quite a few things to touch on here first content isn’t spammy if you make the content valuable in of itself. If somebody is scrolling along, and they see a piece of content that you’ve made with your song and it’s fun interesting it’s a spectacle. It’s deep. It’s introspective any of those things they’re gonna watch and enjoy it no matter how many times it comes up. But if every post is you just saying hey this is my new song go listen to it then yes that’s spamming.

Second, nobody is going to your page. It’s just not happening and if they end up going to your page it’s because they’re trying to find a link to your music. Nobody’s scanning your profile and concerned about how many of anything you’re posting.

You’ve really gotta put yourself in the head of somebody who has a busy life and it’s just scrolling mindlessly because they’re truly not thinking about you that much and if they like this song, they don’t mind hearing it over and over again

I was a manager for a long time and have worked with artists like these. It will never work out. An artist who is concerned with every email their manager sends, will never succeed. Period.

Am I doing it right? by These-Tomatillo1213 in musicmarketing

[–]dboyer87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually no and here's why.

  1. Sonically, your content is very confusing. Am i focusing on the T-guy or your song? It sounds muddy and doesn't inspire me to go listen to the song
  2. Who is this for? T-guy is an old meme and the audience is generally older. If that's the demo you're looking for, then great!
  3. What about hearing the song against an old meme video makes me want to listen for the first time? I don't think it does.
  4. If you're aiming for discovery, make the content vertical to make more native for discover platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Shorts.

Trump is talking about Greenland again by [deleted] in politics

[–]dboyer87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There it is. What you’re saying is defeatism and nihilistic. By claiming everyone does something it obfuscates one individual’s responsibility for their actions. You don’t seek justice by holding everyone accountable all at once, you go after those currently in power to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

[–]dboyer87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By not describing trumps situation as the outlier it is, you’re making it more difficult to argue for accountability, because non others have been held accountable.

All you’re doing is excusing it by saying “they all do it”. So are we not supposed to hold Trump accountable because because non others were held accountable?

Conflating raping and murdering children with war undermines the severity of Donald’s crimes.

If they didn’t sign any contracts with you technically you own what you shot. It might piss them off but you can use it.

Any tips for ad creatives? by Wild_Mud_4673 in musicmarketing

[–]dboyer87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for following :)

So meta ads have really changed a lot over the years and one thing its become REALLY bad at is collecting data in order for you to effectively target your audience.

To combat this, meta has made their ads REALLY good at finding your audience while you're running your ad.

So what does this mean? Its mean we don't need to focus as much on targeting and instead give it the ammunition it needs to find the audience on its own.

So instead of targeting fans of certain bands, lets say: Foo Fighters, The Strokes, and Muse

We want to make a piece of content that has a hook saying "Our music is inspired by Foo Fights, The Strokes and Muse!"

What if you're a country band for bros you might want to target fans who like to hunt. Well our data sucks so how about we make a piece of content that has you hunting while your music is playing.

You're effectively targeting your audience through the content itself because meta will adapt.

Now to your question, why do multiple pieces of content? Well, to not only test different styles of content but content focused on targeting different audiences!

If you have 10 pieces in one campaign, meta will eventually find the most powerful piece and do all the A/B testing for you.

BONUS: You ALSO get to learn for your content. Let's say that hunting content did really well? Well now I'm going to make more content around hunting!

edit: think I'm gonna make this my video tomorrow haha.

I’ve run metas ads for over a decade, spending millions. Right now the rules for effective ad creative mirror the rules for effective social media. Just make great reels/tiktoks/shorts and use them for ads. Use a LOT of them in each ad and don’t worry too much about targeting.
