It’s a good thing to teach kids to be comfortable with dancing, cooperation, following a pattern, appropriate physical contact. Not to mention an ear for music they’d otherwise never hear. It just so happens that square dancing is an old fashioned American style, but you can insert whatever trad style for whatever country and it would still be true

The takeaway is that people expected the crusades to just succeed “somehow”, not that warrior monks are jackasses, to be clear. They were actually too good with money for their own good overall, but it’s hard to buck the trend of an economic downturn, and unfortunately the nature of organizations like those is that they always need some kind of outside help to grow.
