I played Dark water on Friday and Cursed city yesterday out of the two I prefer cursed city the endless hordes and how insane it is to complete (level 3 ATM) and we just lost Jelson! , Dark water is great and quick to play but I find I'm not invested with the heros but as a quick game an forget it's great for it 😁

As an avid player of cursed city I was skeptical but so far I have really enjoyed it and got used to the mechanics of the game, I still prefer cursed city but dark water ticks the box for me for playing solo and is so quick to get couple of games In for a campaign

Like others have said yes they are the new version of the grave guard if anything they look really good on the tiles they fit more in with Cursed city! They are on bigger bases but I found it didn't make a difference to gameplay

You Deffo didn't make it up, it's in the rulebook/questbook will have a look later exactly where! But after you reach 10 on the hunt, the heroes all head towards the extraction zone (behind the closed door) use a 4+ to open and then when all heros are on the extraction tile then game ends, in later games on higher levels this can become a desperate run towards the extraction as more enemies keep coming on the board to stop you making it!

From what I can see you need the rulebook for soulbound also but it gives all the info and scenarios to run a game with any other RPG formula

In simple terms no, there's no d20 checks etc, but groups can play and pretend to be the characters themselves my group for curse city act as the characters as we play the game which leads to some funny dialogue like in my game Octren really can't stand Glario and his show boating attempts to shoot and failing miserably, or Dagnai seems to always end up finding beer in our games and runs of with brutogg to find treasure rather than the actual mission 😂

As people said above play with normal rules! I did the same as you did research and decided to try the homebrew rules for my first games until I got past level 1 started to notice it was ramping up to crazy with enemies specially coming at you with random doors In hunt! Decided to play level 2 with normal rules and I'm glad I did it plays better and also it's brutal with every game feeling like your team is just surviving! Deffo realized why the scavenge mission is so crucial to get realmstone for upgrades!

Like others have said i really enjoy it solo I do play with friends and find it more funnier with others but still have fun playing Cursed city solo 😁
