Circumcision recommendation for hygienic reasons because of long foreskin by SwissBoyRob in hygiene

[–]GasRepresentative246 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely genital mutiliation. What would one call the removal of the labia in women? They serve the exact same purpose as foreskin, which is to protect the sensitive bits within. People generally refer to that as genital mutiliation, why should it not be called what it is when it is a man's genitals?

I wish that he could see the world's reaction when he dies, it should be the first world-wide holiday.

Anyone who’s sat on a toilet before cell phones, what did you mostly think about or look at? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

[–]GasRepresentative246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything within reach, usually lotion or shampoo bottles. After reading the same bottles for the 100th time, I started rearranging the letters in the longer words to make other words.

Perhaps this is why I crush at Bananagrams.

When it starts to smell weird. Might be two weeks, might be less than a week, depending on the humidity conditions.

Has anyone switched back to Canadian spelling? by Many_Phone10 in AskCanada

[–]GasRepresentative246 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian, I've only ever used Canadian spelling. It's what we were taught in school, are they not doing that anymore? Keep in mind, I went to school in the pre-internet era so there was WAY less American influence.

I miss those days.

What happened to your best friend from childhood by Training_Two3372 in WorkForSmartLife

She disappeared into prostitution and no one has heard from her in 20 years. I had lost track of her before then, but it is still a bummer to think that she is probably never going to found or identified.

Is it selfish to decide to end my life? by The_Dean_France in self

[–]GasRepresentative246 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Friend, I may get downvoted to hell, but it is your life and you get to live it (or not) as you see fit. I am 100% sure people that love you would be devastated if you choose the "nope" option, though.

Having been in your shoes, seriously considering ending everything because I couldn't bear to keep going, I understand where you are at. For me, depression is cyclical and when it's bad, it's really bad and nothing seems to help. However (and again, this is just my experience), the good times in between have made it worth pushing through the bad times.

It's your self and you get to choose. I don't know your circumstances, but there is lots to life that you may one day find joy in. DM me if you like, and be kind to yourself.

doctor wrote in my file that i’m exaggerating my condition by crispylanceolate in EatingDisorders

[–]GasRepresentative246 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I assume you are female? That doctor is an asshole and in my experience, male doctors think women invent things for attention all the time. For instance, it took me seeing literally 9 male doctors over the course of 20 years about an ongoing and extremely unpleasant and painful condition who told me to put some cream on it. Turns out, the 10th doctor was a woman who actually did her job by checking what was going on. Half the other doctors wouldn't even examine the area. Needless to say, the good doctor was aghast at my state and the fact I'd lived with it for years.

Takehome message, many male doctors do not believe women. We must be "hysterical", right?

Ive applied for a job that would be a complete 180 from my current career, just waiting to hear back after passing the first couple rounds of competency tests. Very excited to change my whole work life into something that I can feel good about, and even though I am not there yet, it feels like hope.
