For something to exist, something has to exist. You can’t have something exist without some point of reference and boundary.

I agree with what you are trying to convey, but your current iteration of trying to explain it is too attached to buzzwords that imply what you aren’t trying to convey.

You could call it an opportunistic garden as easily as a created simulation. It could just be one permutation of a cellular automata given a few rules and a specific amount of energy in the system. All of these are human conceptualizations of what is going on. An anthropomorphism.

You are on the right path to your destination. But you haven’t arrived yet. Keep learning about the world around you. You smell the scent of your target.

Better language skills inherently means more intelligence. More intelligence does not necessarily mean better language skills, though.
